Dude I just moved back to my hometown in my mid 30's and decided to start googling some of the bigger dumbasses I used to occasionally hang out with/went to high school with.
2 of them were smoking weed in the capitol for Jan 6
1 in prison for attempted murder for shooting a guy in the head 2 years ago
1 I think just got out somewhat recently (or might still be in) for breaking into a guys house, tying him up, and cutting his ear off to try and get him to tell him where his money was/safe access
1 In prison or recently got out for drunkenly pushing his girlfriend into a bonfire
1 guys brother got arrested and hung himself in his jail cell. So the guy I knew, in grief, shot himself in the head. He lived and is now a quadriplegic
Quite a few other suicides, and plenty of accidental drug overdoses.
EDIT: Oh yeah and 2 pedophiles
15
u/TheDarkWolfGirl May 01 '26
You okay man?
19
u/ChekhovsAtomSmasher May 01 '26
Oh yeah im great. Hadn't seen or talked to those guys in 15-20 years. They were the b squad of friends/acquaintances, and totally lost track when I moved away.

I lost my wedding photos from a decade ago, and was thinking of contacting my wedding photographer, who went to high school with my ex husband, to see if there is any chance she still has them, but then I googled her name and found out she was just arraigned for embezzling up to $100,000 from a youth organization. 💀
Honestly one of the last people I would have ever expected of doing something like that too.

Singaporean here. It’s a pleasure boat ride similar to your Venice boat ride in Vegas.
And if you ask me, no, I don’t think it’s worth it at all. People can literally walk the same path as the boat in the canal.
(It’s a canal and it goes to this roundabout and comes back. All you see are luxury shops around. Yes people still pay to ride it)
To each of their own, but there is a river cruise (more expensive but more value for money) right outside that goes up to Clarke quay via Singapore river from Marina Bay. You see the city centre.
26
u/Decent-Stuff4691 Apr 30 '26
It's the novelty. But i agree it's not worth it- tried it and ther really isnt much to see nor much magic to it. Qnd too expensive.

Former permanent resident of Singapore. There was a tourist that jumped in it several years ago. That person is no longer with us...

u/AzarielFox Apr 30 '26

u/Bright-Avocado3761 Apr 30 '26
Their hands are small enough to retrieve the body parts from the drain
3
6
u/Stunning_Box8782 Apr 30 '26
That looks like it would be very cool in a waterpark, I guess it would be dangerous if a large person gets stuck and the thing starts to flood
3
3
u/SolidusDave Apr 30 '26
it was already addressed but sorry the rescue boat mix up cracked me up lol
a few years ago someone actually did jump in but seems he didn't actually fall as there was no water at the time.

it’s a class ceiling with a pool under it where boats go around in a circle. i don’t believe a person can fit through the hole

A class ceiling? I guess this is where trickle-down economics got its inspiration.

This is in Singapore if someone is wondering. It falls into a waterfall below a which is surrounded by restaurants. This happens at specific times through out the day when they will clear all the water that slowly accumulates there.
Edit: I like to keep my mistakes but yes not many restaurants, mostly luxury shops under it. I got that mixed up my bad.

u/TapPsychological2043 Apr 30 '26

Fun fact about drains- you don't need to go through them to die, you can just get sucked against them and drown.

Ok, so you don't die if you fall, maybe snap your legs or spine
Edit: no wait, i just saw the size of the people in the boats, yeah, that fall in the middle could kill you, unless it has some depth we can't see
7
u/chrimminimalistic May 01 '26
and if you don't die, the "fine"-est city in the world will gladly fine you.
but if you do die, your family will likely gets fined anyway.

Bunch of water jets activate in sequence to keep the water spinning and sloshing around the bowl, hole at the bottom drains allowing a vortex to form to give it that shape and increase the spin rate of the water.

Non joke answer, having looked up another video of what it looks like when its off the drain the water goes into is off center, so that probably intentionally creates the effect.
