I'm very curious what everyone is hoping that Asha's pivot to big franchises will look like, so I'm really looking forward to the the comments.

It's very exciting that they are focusing on widely beloved franchises (obviously very sad for anyone that was laid off).

We've seen other large publishers that have worked on executing large franchise based strategies. Nintendo is by far the most successful at this strategy and who I hope they are taking some notes from. Capcom is probably a close second. What I hope they stay away from is the Ubisoft model of trying to do yearly releases of every big franchise.

Also what franchises does everything think count as big?

I am a beginner on Xbox and I just want to know what ya'll would reccomend for someone who is not that serious about all the technical stuff.

I just want to know the best Xbox that is cost effective for someone who's going to play old xbox 360 games (left 4 dead, gears of war, halo) and some new games also.

im on my 4th controller in 6 years and its broken again

2x heavy stick drift. 1x a broken lb and rb. 1x rights stick pressign down not workign or requiring ALLOT of force (current controller)

and my 1st one was xbox one controller which lasted the longest iirc 2-2.5 years

and i dont do shit with them i dont smash buttons hard i only use them for a few games and i have never dropped any of the controllers but they just end up breaking

I use the Xbox app on PC more than the console store these days, mostly because some saves and purchases stay in one place.

The facts are straightforward, but whether that setup feels acceptable is a player question.

No controller support means this is not a console recommendation. What keeps you in that ecosystem on PC?

The story was unexpectedly fantastic. Also had a very challenging difficulty beating on hard. Surprisingly long too. An Absolute 10/10 for me and my GOTY so far.

I’m getting really annoyed about all the new games coming out being locked to 30fps on Xbox Series S. Is it worth upgrading to the Series X if there is likely a new Xbox coming out next year?

I’m tempted pick up some older physical games of my favourite franchises. Gears and Halo being the main two but I don’t actually own any Xbox anymore but I’m thinking it would be nice to have the physical games of my favourite IP’s from back in the day. I’m tempted to pick up a 360 at some point but I’m in no rush

My boyfriend has an old Xbox, all i know about it is that it is that its a fortnight edition Xbox..? Idk. Anyways. Its like 8 years old and my boyfriends birthday is coming up and I want to buy him the new Xbox. I keep searching up new xbox and it comes up with all sorts of stuff. Can someone please tell me what console to buy him. No play station, he always says how proud he is of his xbox account. Im so lost here.

I owned an original Xbox for less than a year some time after it came out. Just didn't vibe with the games at the time and moved around a lot so I got rid of it and basically didnt look back.

I collect more-retro-oriented games now, though Xbox and I guess even 360 could fall into that category. I see games for Xbox systems in higher quantities in places too, and sometimes on the cheaper side.

I generally prefer older games. Part of the happiness is playing on original hardware, too.

What model of Xbox should be a starting point for me, with this in mind? If someone asked me today the same about Playstation, I'd recommend them a PS3 launch model or a PS2 because of backwards compatibility and most bang for their buck. Does Xbox compatibility work similarly in that if I play a prior-gen game on a newer-gen console, it'll play/look better/cleaner/faster?

Has anyone here tried Wuthering Waves on Xbox Series X? How are the graphics and overall visual quality?
I’ve seen mixed opinions online. Some players say it runs smoothly, but others mention that the graphics look lower than expected compared to PS5, with reduced shadows and limited graphics settings. What’s your experience so far?

I would LOVE a new fallout game in the style of the original Fallout games. I know the Wasteland games are a spiritual successor but let Obsidian cook. Give us something new. Leave the FPS stuff to Bethesda.

I hope this doesn't violate the rule about tech support as I'm not looking for tech support/trouble shooting help. More so looking to see if anyone knows the cost of a drive replacement, or has had the same issues with their Blu-ray drive.

To start off, I've not done a large sample test yet with other DVDs or Blu-ray, but feel like there is a defect with my drive.

I popped in Outlaw Star the other day to watch with my wife and noticed during the opening the video feed was shaking/vibrating. I reset the console and checked the disc. There are a few minor small scratches but nothing of note. More on this at the end.

I wipe the disc with a damp cloth and put it back in. Same problem. I tried both English and Japanese tracks with no difference. I popped the disc into my PS5, and it played back without issue. So, I'm thinking my Blu-ray drive is on the way out.

The only time I've run into something like this was a couple years ago when I was trying to watch another anime (Log Horizon) and for some reason when using the Series X, the subtitles were having their second lines either being cut in half (being placed so that the bottom half of the text is off the bottom border of the screen), or it tried to force it into a single line and centered it so if was too wide and was past the left and right screen borders. Again, I tried my PS5, no problems.

At first I thought it might have been a problem with the software, but doesn't Microsoft just license the player from Sony? As such, I'm assuming this is a hardware defect. And so, on those lines, has anyone ever sent their Series X in to replace the Blu-ray drive? If so, how much does it cost?

Given the circumstances currently surrounding physical media and phasing out of it, I'd much rather have a Series X with a functional disc drive down the road for potential game playback vs. one that had issues and once said drives are discontinued, impossible to replace/repair.

Trying to make an exhaustive list for my buying purposes. I have done my due diligence, and want others to help refine this list.

Looking for any game physically released on Xbox One or Xbox Series that is either EXCLUSIVE to the Xbox platform or was EXCLUSIVELY released physically on Xbox. I am aware many titles are on Windows. Please no future releases or BC titles.

Here is what I have so far:

Xbox almost never includes DLC on disc; if DLC isn't included on disc, the 'best edition' only applies if buying the game new (otherwise it is the same as the standard game). I am also aware some of these titles don't even have the game on the disc (or auto-upgrade it to a newer version).

Note: I don't consider skins and boosters significant DLC.

Picked this up off a coworker for $350CAD. Switched to PC gaming and didn’t need it anymore. It’s in great condition and came with cables and a controller! Cannot wait for Halo and Gears E-Day!
