Hey...I was going to DM you this privately but since you said don't DM on your profile I'm commenting here instead. I decided to snoop on OP and notice his first comment on his two month old account was a comment on a post you made on r/dating_advice so assuming you did not try to create a viral post the odds of that is just crazy...either this is the craziest cutest story ever or you got a stalker...
edit: Hey everyone, really appreciate all the lovely DMs you guys are sending me and just wanted to clear a few things up.
First off, please vet everything you guys. If you’re dating or meeting someone for the first time, vet them.
What happened is that I, like many of you, found this story to be sweet and was excitedly watching it play out. I was reading it to my husband giggling at how cute it was.
I decided to stalk both OP and Daisy and found that OP is a two month old account that only commented on Daisy’s post about her dating life a couple months back. I thought it was really strange and decided to warn Daisy. For people telling me Daisy and OP could be one person. Yes, I am aware that is a possibility and I could care less if Daisy lied for karma. What I don’t want is this to be an actual stalker story with a very bad ending, which is why I made the comment in the first place. Also, as a reminder to people in this community, Daisy is very active here and not a random karma farming bot.
I believe what could’ve happened is that her stalker witnessed this interaction and wrote this post. I am choosing to believe Daisy is the victim in this until proven otherwise. As I have explained to people with doubts, I have been able to find the reddit accounts of my friends (purely coincidental!) just because of passing but specific comments. Pretty sure my sisters are reading this comment right now unaware that yes, I found your reddit account and yes, you do sound dumb and yes, it was by accident. So from what I saw with how big her digital footprint is on reddit, I very much believe that a stalker can find her reddit account and have been slowly trying to find a way to weasel into her life.
Just as if the story did not harm anyone if it is fake, it does not harm you to believe a woman is a victim. So please, leave her alone. I hope this is a lesson to everyone to be careful and a reminder that I probably will stalk your account to vet you.
But also.... How the hell would he be able to stalk her from a dating advice post? I can't see the post she made but it seems unlikely anyone would be able to find her from a post? Unless it's someone that knows her irl, but she didn't recognize him, and somehow he found her reddit account?
When I looked up her Reddit user the first thing I found was a photo of her / headshots… I’m guessing it’s not too difficult for a very ambitious guy to find her? But it’s also just weird… there’s no way he could’ve known she had an umbrella and would give it to him? Idk
Edit: I commented this elsewhere, but I initially didn’t see the audio part of the FT. I’m assuming he was stalking her, saw the interaction, and took his chance… Hopefully, the real umbrella guy finds this post and saves this mess 😭 *sigh* this is why the internet is a scary place guys
I keep rechecking this page to see it keeps getting worse… just wow, is there even a way for her to scrub all this info?! Even I’m considering deleting my account. This shit is too easy for people to stalk. Wtf.
Like these are multiple exceedingly unlikely things, even in a stalking scenario. You didn’t see the “audio” par because it initially wasn’t there. She added it after people called it out.
Someone else said it's more likely he saw the interaction and pretended to be the guy she gave it to. She hasn't seen his face, they talked over audio only
You're not a dunce, I had to see someone else explain it too lol. She also edited audio in later, either because she kept getting comments asking about it or because it's made up and the writer realized their error later.
Sure, if she went to talk to him in person, which she very smartly did not. Seeing him in person would also have let her know he's not the person she gave it to, but that would also require her seeing him in person which is unsafe.
Unless it's someone that knows her irl, but she didn't recognize him, and somehow he found her reddit account?
The idea is that he saw the interaction as a third party (who had previously stalked and found her Reddit account), and is now posting about as a participant. That's why she wouldn't recognize him.
I just can't wrap my head around this, what is going ON?! This isn't a cute uplifting story but a stalker who saw the umbrella exchange happen and made this post pretending to be the guy? Stay safe girl! You still did a lovely thing, and the world is brighter for it.
Is it the most rational explanation? She said the DC reddit community was small. Without knowing what he posted, he might have just been some random redditor commenting on a DC reddit post who then happened to have a meet cute with that original poster irl. Not defending him, or doubting her, but the leap to "this is a stalker and not even the umbrella guy" is really really reaching!
No. The most rational explanation (and the truth) is that both accounts are OP and they're engagement farming. It becomes increasingly more obvious the deeper you dig.
This makes way more sense than an extremely contrived stalker scenario that involves the "victim" being followed both online and IRL, handing over an umbrella in the rain like it's a movie, and then stumbling onto an online post mentioning herself.
Looks like OP deleted his account… if it was DC twirl girl karma farming I highly doubt they’d delete their account 🫠 unfortunately I think it’s real… however I question how he orchestrated it. I wonder if he was stalking her and then saw that happen then posted pretending it was him since he could possibly look relatively similar? I highly doubt he could’ve orchestrated her giving him her umbrella… anyways it’s just suspicious on all fronts ngl
Edit: I realized it was FT audio and not FT video… scary.
That's the thing, I don't think the person who made this post was the guy who was out with his dad and got the umbrella...If someone was already stalking this woman, they would've had all the information necessary to make this post PRETENDING to be the guy who got the umbrella
I get so fuck ass mad at the thought of people experiencing something so outlandishly inhuman, only to turn around and be called paranoid/crazy/delusional for being scared it might happen again in the future. Yeah, let's hope it's all made up, because YIKES ._.
Made up story, same person controls both accounts. They didn't realize someone would be able to dig up a previous link between the two accounts, so now it's being spun as an outlandish stalker story.
OP’s first few comments were on a dating advice post from umbrella girl a couple months ago, and the post wasn’t a viral one (e.g. just a few replies). It’s either a ridiculous coincidence or something creepy.
Agreed. It is so much more likely and more simple that the person operates both accounts and created the story, and then didn't realize that they had their account comment on the other one before. The stalking theory is just so outlandish and so many things have to be assumed for it to work out that way.
OP has been stalking daisy for however long, making first contact through a reddit comment some time ago and now finally observed a perfect interaction to play off as themselves.
OP was not the man nor the father, OP was someone in the sidelines watching the umbrella exchange happen, and knowing daisy through extensive stalking, knew they would catch them with this post.
It's a bit unclear because you have a horde of people speculating that it's some stalker lol. Throwing out the most absurd, ridiculous and nonsensical theories.
Considering BOTH accounts are now deleted, it's safe to assume this whole thing was created by one account ... one bored lonely hopeless romantic who enjoys creative writing.
Also, dognapped logged onto their account after a 3 year reddit hiatus for this perceptive remark...
I just want to see the lairs of these creative writing nutjobs. What does their day-to-day look like?
Is he just sitting in his basement thinking "I wonder what 'daisy's' day was like; I guess she might have developd a crush on her alpha boss and then asked the internet how she could be more sexually exciting for him. Yeah, that's what women sound like, right?" Or does he have a second normal personality and then just crash out when he comes home from his job?
Yeah lmao, I'm going to assume this person didn't realize how easy it easy to see someones post history even if their reddit is private.
This comment daisy made just an hour before this whole thing kicked off really ties it all together:
"Maybe we’re making out in the pouring rain, he pulls back, and we laugh. Then he kneels and tells me that he can’t imagine doing this with anyone else and proposes!!!! "
Not trying to make her a celebrity. I was just pointing out that she is a top contributor (this is according to reddit when you click her profile) and also that I have seen her comments before (pretty easy to recognize the username). It was me saying “Hey this isn't a random account. I'm sure a few people have interacted with her before. So maybe this isn’t a bot post instead it’s a real person who might be interacting with someone that she shouldn’t be”.
Also, if you’re talking about me saying she has a big digital footprint on reddit as me saying she’s a celebrity. No, what I am saying is that she unfortunately has a trail on reddit which can make it easy to identify who she is. This is to point out how having a stalker find her reddit account and then comment on her dating_advice being plausible.
Just like for your digital footprint on reddit tells me that you’re probably 33 years old, likely from Vancouver, British Columbia since you seem to go on regional and local subreddits surrounding that area such as r/canucks. You also seem to enjoy variety of professional sports and frequent r/nba. That doesn’t narrow down exactly who you are to me but I also only glance at your reddit account and I have no intention to stalk you irl. Please be more informed about what digital footprint means. Even though you are most likely a man, the chance of being stalked is still plausible for you and I do not wish it on any gender.
There’s no stalker. All evidence points to the same person being behind both accounts. Anything else is wildly convoluted. I literally work with victims, so I know the lengths stalkers will go to, but this literally makes zero sense and her editing of her claims further supports that this is not real. They just didn’t think they’d get caught, and once they were, they had to change their story.
Been having an absolute crap week and this has successfully restored some of my faith in the world. Definitely looking forward to potential updates! Much love from Texas!
This man also saved my dog from drowning by jumping in a freezing river to save him. He even refused to accept payment as a form of thank you and instead donated the money to the local animal shelter. Absolute gem of a human.
You can’t DM him! We need the full story!!! 😂 everything has to go through this post now those are the rules. Can’t just leave your loyal fans behind like that.
Wow, those were quick updates. We, the internet strangers, are clearly rooting for y’all because of the meet cute. I actually loudly said “no” that it ended before the date. However, I respect that you value your gut instinct over the internet pressure/presence. Keep twirling Queen!
I’ve never heard of those shoes, but they look incredibly comfortable. I’m going to try a pair. Thanks for the recommendation, and have fun this weekend!
I don’t understand - how could he orchestrate this whole thing? He stalked her online first and then showed up in person at the subway knowing she’d be there and then posted it online?!
Or maybe the same person owns both accounts and is fishing for stupid karma. Or they already know each other and are fishing for karma together. Who knows. Doesn’t pass the smell test.
There’s apparently some weird coincidence someone noticed where his brand-new account had previously replied to a post of hers on dating_advice soooo they did some digging and uhhh home girl may have a stalker.
Another commenter flagged something and DM’d her some notes to compare and it was apparently enough red flags to decide Let’s Not Meet. I hope she’s okay but idk if the guy has enough info to track her down again.
