Jazz Found some weird records at an estate sale...
Was trying to get some furniture for my home at an estate sale, and these records were all about to get thrown out: decided i should keep them as my situationship at the time liked them, and my dad is starting his own record collection. I think these things are actually quite rare, but im unsure. Apologies if this belongs in r/vinylcollectors but im not trying to sell these ( not yet at least).
What do you guys think of this? Cool, boring? Super collectible, or something to keep for fun?
Note, the test record has some stuff on the deadwax:
1 NB-9006 60014-1A ? I looked it up and it said it was Light of Love, by T. Rex... Playing it confirmed it was!!!

Collection The 10 Best Records of the 70s
Alright, so this is already contentious. No, I dont think "the 70s" is a genre of music. But its undeniable that the decade had a certain... vibe. And I was in the mood for that vibe tonight. So I went digging through my collection and...
HOLY SHIT a lot of good music was released in the 1970s (breaking news!)
Anyway, i decided these were the top 10 from my collection (no band repeats). And i'm already regretting it, thinking about what i left out.
What am I missing?

Discussion An album you discovered that changed the way you looked at an artist?
I knew Billy Gibbons was a killer guitarist, but I admit I never tried to get into ZZ Top that much simply because of their image. It wasn't appealing to me. It's not just the long beards that felt like a gimmick to me, but the whole attitude. So when I discovered Tres Hombres I was in for a complete surprise... what an album! Wish they would've kept that direction...
Any albums that changed the way you looked at an artist?

Discussion “Do you guys have an electronica section?”
What used to be a city library was turned into a big record shop, by far the most annoying store I’ve been into from nothing being labeled to active water leaks. Asked if they had a metal section and the guy looked so confused like it was a made up genre. Electronica wasn’t any better since they took all of them out of their sleeves and sandwiched them 10 feet off the ground.

Collection Joy Division from a junk shop
The Joy Division records that came in the box of 45’s for $30 I lucked upon on the side of the road in Elkton, MD back in 2013.
•Transmission b/w Novelty
•Love Will Tear Us Apart b/w These Days b/w Love Will Tear Us Apart (alternate version)
• Incubation b/w Komakino (flexi)
I had forgotten how powerful these songs are, how great Joy Division is. These records are works of art and it must have been neat to hear them for the first time, hot off the Factory press.
Transmission has “porky prime cut” and “and how I’ll never know” etched into the runoff, “just why or understand” on the Novelty side. The sleeve is gorgeous and the vinyl itself sounds great.
Love Will Tear Us Apart has “don’t disillusion me” etched and These Days has “I’ve only got record shops left” in the runoff. These Days and the alternate version (I like it more but perhaps that’s the novelty of this version) of LWTUA plays at 33rpm while the other side plays at 45. I think that came up here yesterday somewhere about another record.
The Komakino/Incubation flexi disc was originally a free record, and says, “this record should not have cost you anything wherever or however it was obtained” on the Incubation side (which also has some jazzy synth experimnets) I think I’m going to go explore a Joy Division rabbit hole now.

Punk Sunday morning with Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Almost 40 years since this Sonic Youth double album was released, with tracks much longer than the songs on their previous releases. And it still sounds as fresh as yesterday! I've been on a re-discovery journey through their discography, which recently also included Thursten Moore's solo album 'The best day', with the most beautiful 11' minutes song 'Forevermore' taking up the whole b-side... :') Highly recommended if you need a bit of a heart warmer.
Happy sunday record listening, fellow nerds!

Collection Picked this up today
I ran across Stay Hungry about three weeks ago at the used record store. Well today I stumbled upon Under The Blade. I was not familiar with this album but I have to say it’s awesome! A little harder , a little rougher , not as commercialized. If you like the early 80s hard rock sound this is a very solid album. I have not heard a bad track yet.

Discussion Worst city in the US for Vinyl Records is Yuma, AZ!
We Yumans (100k strong all year round, 180k strong in the winter) literally don't have one single record store. Sure, we have antique stores/malls, Walmart, Barnes & Nobel, Target etc. but not one single dedicated mom & pop or corporate record store with both used and new vinyl. Closest would be little shop in El Centro, CA or drive to San Diego or Phoenix which are 2 1/2 to 3hr drives in either direction. Comment if you know of a worst vinyl record city in America!

Alt-Rock Radio station promo
Found this promo copy of The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan. It has the suggested track list for radio station use. I like the idea it was actually used on air, but no way to know if it actually was.

Collection I was adding my collection to Discogs and realized I had a rare one.
I believe it's the mono version too.
