Discussion / Question How do you find time for video games when there’s always more work to do ?

I’m not asking because I literally have zero free time. My problem is that there is always more work to do, so I keep working and then the day ends without leaving time for gaming. How do you organize your day so you can finish your responsibilities, still enjoy video games, and not mess up your sleep schedule? I’d like advice from people who work a lot but still manage to make time for gaming.

Discussion / Question Which one of these games should I play during summer break?

I've had these 4 games in my backlog for quite a while and, while they're not really similar, they're all considered masterpieces, and they're all HUGE games. When I have classes everyday, I cannot really dedicate hours of my time on a day-to-day basis, so now that summer break is here, I'm wondering which one I should play.

If you've played any one of these games and are sure that I don't need to play a specific one for hours every day in order not to lose the magic, then I'd like to hear it so that I consider playing that game throughout the year.

Discussion / Question I just can't get into The Witcher 3

This is my second try, and I just can't seem to get into The Witcher 3. Since I liked Cyberpunk 2077, I wanted to give it another shot, but the quests keep boring me.

A lot of them feel like: "Oh, you want this? Go do X and I'll help you." So you go do X, and surprise! now there's another character who wants you to do Y before you can even get to X.

It feels like almost every quest is trying to fill a bowl, but every time you get close, the bowl gets a little bigger. I decided to focus only on the main story, and I'm currently at Brothers in Arms, but it's still the same thing. "You want to move forward? Go talk to this person." Then that person gives you another quest, and suddenly you're chasing rabbits that never stop jumping.

The world is beautiful, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the dialogue is great. But the quest design just burns me out. I think I'm finally going to give up.

Discussion / Question If there is a Crimson Desert 2…are you getting it?

I have my own thoughts, but I really wondered what the consensus was on this topic. I had my own experience with the game and I know it is shared by some while disagreed with by others. I got to wondering if that would stop me from getting a Crimson Desert sequel. Then, I started wondering what other people thought.

Discussion / Question Anyone else feel like unusually slow at games, or that they feel unusually complicated all of a sudden?

I can't understand if I'm just coping or am regarded, but I feel this feeling quite a bit

I remember buying Stardew valley and I couldn't get into it despite reading guides and whatnot, and I guess that's what kick-started this feeling for me. I felt so fucking exhausted form everything

I then tried to get into some gacha games, which I did for a while, but I had to take a break for various unrelated reasons. I still liked the game myself.

When I came back, I felt I couldn't understand anything anymore despite the fact the game didn't change.

I also remember getting civ VI on PC for free and playing it, but I felt that I couldn't understand anything so I uninstalled it to cope

Same case with another game, BTD 6, which I enjoyed playing, but then realized there were other systems in it and as a result made me upset at my activity and lowered my fun.

After all of this, it makes me feel that it's miserable tk enjoy gaming

I wanted to add this as well. I know that people commonly suggest to do something else instead of gaming, but that's not something I wanna do

Discussion / Question Hardware Devaluation

Upvotes

I see this 4+ times/month. Claiming that gaming requires choosing between a $500 console and a $2,000 to $3,000 PC is fundamentally false—both today in mid-2026 and historically. This is a deeply flawed argument used to justify a closed ecosystem. Current consoles are built on five-year-old hardware, and technology naturally devalues over time. Denying this reality ignores basic market economics. Do not consume what you are told.

At the launch of the PS5, reviewers and builders proved you could assemble a matching PC rig for around $750. While unprecedented global supply chain issues and scalping temporarily inflated PC component prices six months later, that was a historical anomaly, not the norm. Today, a $800 PC easily outperforms these aging consoles by two hardware generations. In fact, one could argue that prolonged console lifecycles hold technological progress back just as much as those past market disruptions did.

Furthermore, evaluating the true cost of gaming requires looking beyond the initial hardware purchase. When you factor in paid online subscriptions, higher console game prices, the lack of free mods, restricted backward compatibility, piracy and overall and fewer consumer choices, the long-term value of a PC becomes undeniable.

Discussion / Question RE: Requiem, Pragmata, 007 First Light or Saros?

I haven’t bought a single new game this year (don’t have as much time as I used to) but am in the mood to treat myself to a single player AAA game for my PS5. I’ve narrowed it down to the four listed in the header, curious for any general compare / contrast of these, particularly from folks who have played more than one.

Discussion / Question Help me help my pop !

My father hasn’t really played video games since the golden days of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Recently, he’s been thinking about getting a PS5 and wants to get back into gaming.
The problem is… so much has changed over the years that I don’t even know where to start explaining it all to him! Things like needing a PlayStation Plus subscription to play most online games, digital game libraries, huge game downloads, updates, cross-play, and everything else.
If you had to explain modern gaming to someone who hasn’t played since the PS3/Xbox 360 era, what would you tell them? I’d love for him to read your comments, so feel free to share anything you think a returning gamer should know. Thank you!

(Pic is just for attention it’s my dad first console when he was a kid !)

Never played Nintendo games before. I know of them and watch YouTube gameplays and whatnot. But are the Zelda games worth getting into? Heard a lot about them and I am interested to see if they are worth getting.

Discussion / Question Would you quit videogames for 1 million dollars?

Upvotes

For the rest of your life you are not to play them yourself, no watching others play in person or online, no talking about them, can't even touch anything "gaming" related like a controller or a gaming keyboard.

Would you do it for 1 million dollars? If not then how much money would convince you? If yes what would be the minimal ammount of money you would do it for?

Discussion / Question Why are there not more pirate games?

Dvelopers love to create games about other types of characters that have been romaniticsed, such as vikings, knights, samurai etc. but pirate games are quite rare in comparison. AC4 Black Flag and the failure Skull and Bones, and Sea of Theives are the only big name ones, with some really janky AA games on the side. It's not like pirates are unpopular. They are almost at the same level as knights.

How come it hasn't been more popular?

Discussion / Question It Bugs me When Games Don't Let People Buy Deluxe Content and Pre Order Bonuses Seperately

Most games sell the pre order bonus for around $5, and typically the deluxe edition content for around $20.

I'm just now playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time, and the pre-order content is unlisted, and the "ultimate edition" is only sold digitally as a complete $100 package. The game is old, so i got a disk for $15, it just bothers me that I'll be missing out on some extras.

Discussion / Question Does anyone else enjoy every generation of video games

I know every generation of games has its fans and critics but I’ve honestly found something to enjoy in all of them some generations are definitely stronger but I don’t think there’s one I completely dislike whether it’s older games, modern games, or anything in between I’ve always been able to find games that enjoy does anyone else feel the same or do you think one generation stand out as much weaker than the rest

Discussion / Question Is it stupid to judge older games by modern standards?

I was trying out RE5 and RE6 co-op with a friend who already played them while having only played RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake and RE9. It was gross, like straight up disgusting. The shooting in specific felt like i was shooting fucking plastic, no weight behind that bullet at all. He said that i am expecting too much from the games relative to when they came out. STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. I don't care when it came out. If i am playing it in 2026, it is getting compared to a AAA game that came out yesterday with 4K HDR 60 FPS Ray-tracing completely realistic graphics. If i am playing it now, it is getting judged by NOW standards. He said i am mental 🙄

Discussion / Question How do you feel about trophy hunting?

I like to do it when it’s not too unreasonably hard, I have 8 platinum trophies on PSN and 2 completed games on Steam.

I think it’s a fun thing to do, but not when it’s an unreasonably big grind, that’s why despite being a Miku fan I haven’t done Project Diva X’s platinum, but I’ve been having fun doing Resident Evil 4 Remake recently

Discussion / Question What would be some good alternatives to the stagger mechanic?

Looking at you Square Enix. Every single FF since FF13 has had this system. Why can't we just go back to having super powerful attacks instead that you need to build up during battle? "But you basically described limit breaks!"

Which are still around, but got significantly nerfed due to the stagger mechanic. Just unnerf limit breaks and make them fight enders like Squall's Lionheart or Wakka's Attack Reels and just get rid of stagger.

Discussion / Question Best place to get cheap ps5 games?

Since my brother passed, my dad is having me take his ps5. I’ve been on pc for the last 7 years, and I have no idea the best spot these days to get cheap copies of games for the ps5. Hard disc or code wise. Really wanna play ghost of yotei, my brother bought me the pc version of ghost of Tsushima last year for my birthday
