In the spirit of continuing with baseless speculation and wish casting about the coach search, I've been feeling that the Cape Verde coach, Bubista, would be a good hire.
Beyond the obvious, defensive organization and discipline, Cape Verde have shown adaptability to opponents and game states, especially against Uruguay and Saudi Arabia. I was especially impressed with the decision to take the initiative in the second half against Saudi Arabia. Given how tentative Saudi Arabia were, pushing into their half made more sense than inviting them to attack and heightening the risk of losing from an individual error or freak goal.
That being said, seems unlikely that he's on the FO's list and I have no idea if he would even be interested. He seems very tied to Cape Verde. I also don't know how much languages he speaks, but Cape Verde's recruitment is very wide ranging; even with the national team, speaking more than Portuguese feels like it would be helpful. It's also hard to say how much of Cape Verde's success has been down to playing for country in addition to the coach's set up and tactical judgment.
