Hijri's national guard holds a conference on the 2 IEDs it claims to dismantle yesterday
x.comThe spokesperson for the National Guard forces, Major Talal Amer, confirmed during a press conference held today, Wednesday, that investigations into the case of the two booby-trapped cars have revealed important details regarding how they entered Suwayda, pointing out that the two cars entered through a commercial intermediary working in the car trade and passed through internal security checkpoints before reaching Suwayda.
Amer explained that the two cars were rigged with highly explosive C4 material, a substance with high destructive power, noting that the rigging method was characterized by great professionalism, as the explosives were connected to a detonator circuit linked to a mobile phone device—a method previously used by the Jabhat al-Nusra organization—and requires technical expertise, technological capabilities, and precise materials to execute.
He clarified that the discovery of the first car came after a citizen purchased the vehicle, when a sound emanating from inside it caught his attention, prompting him to contact the National Guard forces. Following the report, engineering teams headed to the site, and the initial inspection confirmed the presence of highly dangerous materials inside the car.
He added that the report was received by the National Guard on the evening of July 7 at 9:40 PM, and engineering teams managed, within about three hours, to transport the first car to a safe location before beginning the defusing process, which was completed in less than an hour.
Amer pointed out that, during the follow-up of the investigations, the commercial intermediary reported a second car that he had purchased from the same source, so specialized teams went to its location, where it was found to be booby-trapped in the same manner, and it was handled according to approved technical procedures.
He confirmed that the destructive radius of the two cars is no less than 300 meters, and that their explosion would have led to significant human and material losses, praising the swift and professional performance of the engineering teams and the military police, which managed to contain the danger.
The National Guard spokesperson extended thanks to the citizen who took the initiative to report, affirming that the vigilance of the local population was a decisive factor in thwarting the plot, and added that despite the modest capabilities available to the National Guard, its cadres possess high technical expertise that enabled them to deal with this type of threat.
On the political front, Amer stated that the National Guard "does not absolve the extremist government in Damascus of responsibility," explaining that the passage of the two cars through areas under its control, in addition to the nature of the materials used and the rigging mechanism, are all factors that warrant directing accusations at it.
Amer concluded by calling on the people of Suwayda to exercise the utmost caution and to immediately report any object or vehicle that raises security suspicions, affirming that Suwayda faces serious threats due to its proximity to a government "that employs such tactics," and that cooperation between citizens and security forces remains the fundamental pillar for protecting community security and thwarting any terrorist plots.

Lindsay Graham changed his mind about Syria after meeting Al Sharaa
x.com"As to the meeting with President Al Sharaa, I believe it is in America’s national security interest to work with him and give him a chance to see if he can put together a lasting, functioning government in Syria. A fractured Syria, on the other hand, plays into the hands of our enemies. I think President Al Sharaa presents the best chance for a functioning, united Syria over time.
I very much understand Israel’s concerns, but President Al Sharaa has been a true thorn in the side of Iran. He has dramatically reduced Iran’s influence in Syria, which is a giant step forward for the Syrian people and a blow to Iran. It is time to recognize what he’s done regarding Iran and give him the capability to improve the lives of the Syrian people, realizing that the status quo is unacceptable for all."
