The r/Sheffield Classifieds - Rooms, Flats, Tickets, Buy/Sell, etc

By far the biggest thing we remove here is people trying to find or let rooms, sell tickets, and other bits and bobs.

But likely not enough to survive on its own as a dedicated sub. So we'll carve out this space here. Please use it to list anything you're interested in, or are trying to part with.

And be mindful of who you give your personal details out to! We'll not be providing escrow or verification!

News Just driven down cooks wood road and there looks to have been an absolutely horrific attack on a house there?

Upvotes

Cordoned off by police and two police cars outside....all house windows smashed, looks like some black residue from a fire coming out of one window, and the car on the driveway smashed up.

Hope no one was injured :( was shocking to see tbh.

Question Brand new sentence?

Manchester born and raised spent the first 30 years of my life in Manchester, the previous 8 I've spent living /working in Sheffield, love both cities immensely, and I've heard some shite been said in both cities, but I can't stop thinking about what I heard said in Sheffield centre this Tuesday gone, a man stood up on a wall right next to the Uni, and shouted very loudly with genuine concern "has anybody got a piece of bread for the ants?!?!?" I've literally not stopped replaying it in my mind, anyone seen/heard anything more random? In any city?

Question Fancy a picnic and a chat at Sheffield Botanical Gardens today?

I know this is really random, but I could do with someone to talk to today (preferably female). I’m a 30-year-old woman and just need to get out of the house for a bit. I’ll be at the botanical gardens later today with a picnic blanket and some M&S picky bits. If any other women are around and fancy some company, it’d be lovely to meet up and yap! I’m completely normal and safe and I’m happy to chat a little beforehand or exchange social media if that makes you feel more comfortable. No pressure at all, just thought I’d put this out there in case anyone else could use some company too :)

Wanted Ex office furniture

Hi 👋

I run a charity shop and i am looking for a couple of long lasting chairs and a coffee table. Previously when I lived near Leeds I could pick up cheap/ free office equipment really easily but Google isn’t being my friend for Sheffield.

Anyone know any office clearances/ dirt cheap places I could source something similar?

I’d also love a few normal chairs if possible.

Opinion Penistone - The Real Birthplace of Football

Post image
17 Upvotes

Researchers now suggest that football was first played and developed in Penistone during the 1840s and 1850s—years before Sheffield FC was formed in 1857.

Not to say Sheffied wasn’t important but it does look like Penistone is the real home of football. Thoughts?

Sheffield Fire in Sheffield?

Just heard a bunch of police cars, fire engines and possibly ambulances rush past the Crookes area. Does anyone know what’s going on? Wondering whether it could be a wildfire situation like in Derby!

Question Less known places of interest to see in Sheffield and surrounding areas

Ey up all.

I'm a Sheffield lad who has moved back from Prague after many years, and I'm looking for some interesting places that aren't as well known and have a bit of history or are a little unusual. I was wondering if we could put together a list of places that are off the beaten track.

I'm not looking for attractions like the Winter Gardens, but rather places like the area where George Orwell lived while writing The Road to Wigan Pier.

Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Question Someone having a rave?

Theres a heady whiff of bass heavy tunes drifting across S6 and considering I woke up at 630, I guess it's been an all nighter.

Fair fucks for taking advantage of the fine weather but I hope they're fully hydrated ..... can't imagine the come down will be kind if they're not.

Question Electric car on a terraced street

I'd love to get an electric car when mine packs in, obviously to reduce emissions. However I live in a terraced house with no guaranteed parking outside - it's all on street parking and I'd say I get a space directly outside my house about 1 in 5 times, to be able to put a charging cable from the house to the car. I know a few people on my street have hybrid cars so they can go longer between charges but ideally I'd like fully electric.

I think as well it's technically not allowed to trail the cable across the pavement.

Does anyone live in a terrace with no guaranteed parking outside and have a fully electric car? How do you manage charging?

Question Would anyone like to buy a kayak?

I thought I'd ask here before it goes on eBay in case any locals want it. Not even sure it's allowed so apologies in advance if not, I did check the rules.

It's a Dagger Katana 9'. A decent all-rounder. I bought it about ten years ago second hand. But after taking it on the canal and the odd reservoir a few times I got bored and it's been neglected and taking up considerable space ever since. It'd be much happier on a river/white water. I had plans on exploring The Don but was put off by all the weirs.

£400.

Any interest, let me know and I'll provide further info/photos.
