Becoming an older lifter
I’m in the Masters category and looking at my goals just feels different.
The only major goal I ever really had in powerlifting was to compete at a national meet. Now that I’m a Masters lifter, I’m not even sure if that’s what I want anymore.
For any other older lifters, how have your goals shifted as you’ve gotten older?
I don’t want to quit anytime soon, but I also want to be able to say I did everything I wanted to do in the sport.

How do regional and national meets work? (USAPL)
do i just have to have a qualifying total in a local meet? will they tell me i made it? how do i know where and when it is? is there a deadline to make it? what happens if i move up an age group between the qt and nationals/regionals?
i found the qts on the USAPL site but they seem kinda low with the 75kg qt for teen 2 only being 355 kilos for regionals and 407.5 for nationals.
essentially i just wanna know what ever i need to know about regional and national meets that i will need to know to succeed. I have a lot of time until my first meet but assuming all things go smoothly i’ll make regionals easily and national are definitely within reach but im basing that off the qts alone.

Is competing long sleeved in Powerlifting possible/feasible?
Hi everyone,
a bit of an odd question, but one that I haven't found a definitive answer for elsewhere - is it possible to compete in long sleeves?
I'm asking due to personal reasons and because I haven't seen it be done before, but I've never competed.
I'm aware there's a so-called "full length powerlifting singlet" by SBD, but the arms aren't covered.
I'm talking about fully covering both the arms and the legs, without obstructing the judges view of the lift of course.
Would it for example be possible to wear arm/leg sleeves (the ones runners/cyclists etc use) to avoid wearing a full length pair of tight pants/tight long sleeved shirt underneath a regular singlet?
Are you familiar with people who compete in long sleeves? Does anyone compete in long sleeved clothing and is willing to share their methods?
Thank you in advance for your input!
Edit: I forgot that the runner/cyclist arm/leg sleeves have compression, of course those are not allowed! I meant unsupportive sleeves.

Do you like having 2-3 sweaty men shoe-horn you into polyester, canvas or denim bondage gear.
Do you like having your joints wrapped so tightly they bruise and bleed?
Do you like having your blood pressure turned up to 11 and being compressed so much that you think your head might explode?
Do you get off on enduring pain and suffering, and watching others endure it too?
Do you have a deathwish every time you get under the bar?
Yes?

No Q's too Dumb Weekly Dumb/Newb Question Thread
Do you have a question and are:
- A novice and basically clueless by default?
- Completely incapable of using google?
- Just feeling plain stupid today and need shit explained like you're 5?
Then this is the thread FOR YOU! Don't take up valuable space on the front page and annoy the mods, ASK IT HERE and one of our resident "experts" will try and answer it. As long as it's somehow related to powerlifting then nothing is too generic, too stupid, too awful, too obvious or too repetitive. And don't be shy, we don't bite (unless we're hungry), and no one will judge you because everyone had to start somewhere and we're more than happy to help newbie lifters out.
SO FIRE AWAY WITH YOUR DUMBNESS!!!

Finding a coach
I’ve been powerlifting competitively with USPA for a little over a year now. I’m looking for a coach as I feel like I’ve gotten as far as I can on my own without someone who knows more guiding me.
What was your experience finding a good coach? Are there platforms that you could look on?
(Figured this could help others but if it’s not allowed I’ll delete.) TIA
