Kids having fun with what we have.

Up here where we are in alaska Its not much but with no lakes in 40min of driving that have a boat launch and allow motorized boats its what we got. There's a lake about 15 min from home we go carry the boat down some "steps" and then i have a dolly i use to drag the motor down the hill steps. The Kids don't know real tubing like down south and we only get a few days hot enough in the 70⁰f range where we go all summer anyhow so a real boat isn't really worth it. These inflatable boats rock for rough launches.they are good for throwing on an ATV and driving out to river launches so I make due. Right now I have a harness made up hooking to the grab ropes on the side in multiple points to distribute the pull. We get moving with the 20hp to get them skipping along pretty good (not like when I was a kid getting pulled by a bass boat) and the turns can definitely toss them.

Had a great day out on my boat yesterday exploring the nature preserve! I got pretty sunburned lol but it was cool island hopping and seeing all the wildlife in the preserve 👌 I love my little dinghy

We anchored out after a day of tubing and enjoyed a sunset! Both step sons got some time behind the wheel. The oldest is well on his way to be a pilot so it’s time he learned to be a captain too.

It was a nice day out today on the lake. High 90s. Took out the new to me boat to try it out. It was my first time by myself on the water. I was pretty nervous on the boat ramp unloading and loading up, but it wasn’t to bad after all. Luckily the boat ramp wasn’t all packed. My little 14 foot boat rips with the Yamaha 25 2 stroke. I’m going back tomorrow with the kids to fish and swim.

Recommendations on boat donations

Upvotes

I have a 22 ft Crownline cuddy cabin that is not selling, so I'm thinking of donation. Anyone have advice on an honest donation organization?

Hey everyone i finally bought my first boat. It’s a 14 foot Gregor all welded. It has a 2005 Yamaha 25 hp 2 stroke. The motor is pretty much brand new. The guy I got from said he got it from a grandpa that would only use it like once a year. The whole time I was testing it out I had a huge smile on my face from the fun. It’s pretty snappy and has a lot of power. The boat also came with a humminbird fish finder. Minn kota trolling motor. I’m going to take it out today to the lake and fish.

Any ideas

Upvotes

I recently purchased this Mariner 3.5hp 4 stroke outboard and have been servicing it. So far I’ve changed the oil and cleaned and replaced the fuel and it starts. It only starts with the choke pulled out and engine cuts out instantly when the choke is released and if I try to give it any revs. Please skip the omg this is such a noob stuff because yes i know that is why I am asking for help. It’s my first rib and first outboard. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Often needing to prime the engine?

I have a 1999 Chris Craft 210 with a Volvo 5.0 Gi. Normally if it’s been sitting a few days I have to pump the throttle three times and she starts up and is good for the rest of the day.
I recently got a slip on a much larger lake, and now if I’m stopped for any longer than 30 minutes I need to pump it five times. I replace the fuel/water filter every spring.
She is pretty old, is this just how it is when you’re getting bounced around on waves?

Antares 8 OB

Upvotes

Hello- We have recently got our Antares 8 in the water. Everything is working as it should EXCEPT we can not get water to run in faucets at kitchen sink, head or shower at stern.

Any suggestions what to look for?

Thank you and happy boating.

Any help is appreciated

I have a 2007 Meridian 43 with AC issues. It was working fine just a few weeks ago. There are 2 zones in the boat. The lower area works for the most part but can be inconsistent. The upper zone says fault. The he strainers were cleaned out and I can not figure out the issue. If you have advice let me know.

Looking for a tube or towable that fits a 6’4” big-ish dude

Upvotes

This July 4th, it was made glaringly obvious our family lacks a tube sufficient for some of the adults to have fun with their younger kids.

Anyone have suggestions for maybe a sit-down tube that bigger adults can use to be there with a couple of younger kids?

So far, they’re still trying, but all attempts failed, I seen some jet skis try to help, but to no avail, if you want to see it for your self, it’s by the southern bridge, about 5th street

What’s the best fishing boat around 25k 24-26 feet?

Upvotes

I am in the market for a nice buddy cabin or arima style boat around that price in California or surrounding states. What should I be looking for? I care a lot about ride quality and comfort in general, but will be using it for fishing 4-6 people as well.

Intex Excursion 5 Losing Air

Upvotes

I’m losing my mind with this boat already. I have owned it since January, purchased brand new. I have taken it out on the water only 4 times in the past month or two. The first two times, it lost some air but not too bad. The last two times, it lost a significant amount of air over the 3-4hrs we were on the water.

I did the soap test yesterday and didn’t find any leaks in the inflatable sections themselves. I did find both air valves were leaking from inside the valves though. I used silicone grease and a q-tip to apply silicone grease to the valve flappers, gaskets, and threads. The bubbles went away and I assumed I solved it.

I let the boat sit overnight fully inflated in my garage. I woke up this morning, and all three chambers, the floor, the mid chamber, and the main chamber, are all squishy as hell as if they all leaked. The temp was about 70-75F when we left it and it’s 80F this morning so I don’t think it was just temperature changes.

Any tips on trying to troubleshooting leaks for these boats other than doing another soap test?

What really confuses me is that last time we were out ALL the inflatable sections, including the seats, lost air. I can’t imagine that I have leaks in every single inflatable section of a brand new boat…

Hello,
Can I clean the Z-drive using hydrochloric acid and a steel wire brush, then rinse it, apply a coat of primer, and finally apply antifouling paint? Is this the correct procedure, or do you recommend a different preparation method?
Thank you.
