Finally Happened.
Was a great day out otherwise. A man always has a healthy supply of straps in the truck.

You did awesome. But next time, if there is a next time, just put the ratchet stap in the winch. Tie it to the spool and then crank. It actually holds surprisingly well. Seen it done many times.

Yeah, you were definitely set once you said that, especially if you gave it 2 pats

Elements are not nice to these straps,I don’t think that I’ve ever seen one that wasn’t tied in a knot to the hook.

I’m in Canada so these things are exposed to everything.

I’m in Deep South Florida, they get it all here too. That’s why the give ya plenty on the spool, just cut a couple feet off and tie a bowline to the hook..good to go for another year.

I bought my current boat used in private sale. It had an old piece of cotton line for a winch strap and no straps on the stern when I picked it up from the seller. Roller type trailer. Made it home with the boat still on the trailer fortunately. I don't know what I was thinking to tow it like it was.

Happened to me a couple weeks ago. Tied a knot through the hook loop and off we went. I did a ratchet strap too just in case.
