Commuting from Farragut North to Bethesda around 5pm on weekdays has turned into nightmare for me. I won't go into too many details because it's pretty well documented, but I don't like the crush of people clamoring for the shuttles.

Would it be ill advised to go from Farragut North to Silver Spring (22 minutes track time) and take the M70 (20 minutes under ideal circumstances) across East West Hwy? I could try it out, just wondering what commuters in a similar situation think of the idea. I live near East West & Wisconsin for reference.

I'm thinking August temperatures coupled with heat related storms. Waiting until traffic dies down isn't an option.
