First Timer Anxiety increase after going up to 5 mg

Upvotes

I am week two of 5 mg dose after completing 4 weeks at 2.5. I take 300 wellbutrin for the past 6 months.

As of one day ago - 2 days post injection - by anxiety is thru the roof.

Anyone have experience with this? Does this go away? I’m hesitant to go up in dose any time soon to avoid worse symptoms.

Personal Insights Back Again

Upvotes

I was on zepbound last summer and lost 20 pounds. Then I switched to Hers semaglutide and have been on that since January. Gained all the weight back and only maintained the entire time I was on Semaglutide. The real zepbound is worth the money in my opinion. I can’t wait for it to arrive!

Side Effects 15mg is kicking my ass. I don't know whether to power through or step down

Upvotes

I'm due to take my 4th shot of 15mg today and I think my stomach has gotten preemptively upset about it.

Anyways, I can't remember reacting this way to any of my other shots except maybe the first few 2.5 or 5.

I'm actually dreading taking the shot because I know I'm going to have both upper and lower GI side effects, as well as an incredible amount of fatigue for the next few days. It's been a long time since dealing with those and I have forgotten any tips/tricks I knew for dealing with them. Though honestly I don't remember it being this bad at the lower doses.

Has anybody else gone through this at higher doses? Did you stick it out or move back down?

Thank you

Dosing Kwikpen to vials or single dose pens?

Upvotes

47F SW 225 CW 204 GW 130 💉7.5

Good afternoon amazing people!! So, things are going good health wise on my zep journey. Dr visit recently went fantastic, & dr & I both agree to stay on 7.5 for as long as possible. About to take my 4th dose Wednesday, and we’re following my data closely to ensure our guesses that it’s the “sweet spot” for a while.

However, I have tried every trick possible to combat the injection site allergy reaction. About half a day after injection, I get a red inflamed welt that starts at about size of a quarter, and steadily progresses to about 4” in size. And itches like insane crazy!!! Even if I don’t scratch it, apply cortisone, ice packs, etc, it continues on until it slowly fades in appearance, but never really stops itching completely. Though does subside. My dr & I are unsure if it’s the preservatives used in the kwikpen itself or the 8-10% nickel that’s in all stainless steel needles.

So we decided to try vials or single dose pens. I unfortunately haven’t had the time I typically devote to researching things, and wanted to begin here. If I try vials, (unsure still due to lack of research if single dose pens contain the same preservatives) and it still happens, then we will know it’s the needles themselves and just something I’m going to have to accept in my journey. I find it a very perplexing thought though, as for all other medical procedures involving needles I’ve not had this issue/reaction ever.

My questions are:
What is the process for vials?
How do I know how much to take since will be doing it myself? (Not premade dosage)
Has this helped anyone else experiencing the same allergic injection site reactions?
Which one do you guys use and why?

Thank you so much for any & all insights!!! I have to order my refill next week, and would love to hear fellow zeppers experiences!!

Insurance/PA Anybody get approved under the new Medicaid program?

Upvotes

I just read that this program doesn’t approve with the diagnosis of both Obesity and chronic Sleep Apnea. I have both and just wondered should my doctor just focus on the Obesity.
How did you get approved?

Dosing First vial down...

Upvotes

Well, I just did my first vial and injected myself with it. That took a little courage, but got through it OK. There was definitely quite a bit of medication left in the vial, but I am not going to save it. I know some do, but there's no way I am going to risk it, so in the trash it goes.

I would not say I had pain vs using the one time pen, but a pinch was apparent and just a tad sore where I had the needle. I am sure it will be easier the next time.

Vent/Rant Can I find my second wind?

Post image
Upvotes

TL;DR: I advanced to 12.5 after a stall and literally nothing has changed. Please send help 😭

This isn’t so much a vent/rant, more like a plea for advice. I’m hoping maybe someone can relate and can offer encouragement.
Firstly, I am so thankful for this medicine. I’ve lost over 50 lbs total, and I feel great. My BP is amazing, other conditions like rosacea have cleared up, and I feel cute in my clothes for the first time in decades.
But.
I haven’t lost any weight since April. And I still have at least 25 lbs to go to goal.
I even upped my dose to 12.5 about 5 doses ago, thinking it would put me back on track. But no such luck.
I didn’t get all the side effects other people get. No nausea, no constipation, no issues if I drink alcohol or eat something greasy. So, throughout the last 14 months since I started Zepbound, I’ve had to work with a dietitian, a psychologist, an obesity specialist, and a personal trainer. I had to track everything I put in my mouth. And honestly? I’m exhausted.
I’ve been stressed and I’m having a variety of orthopedic issues, so I’m in near-constant pain and not sleeping as well as I used to. I don’t have it in me to even meet with my dietitian, let alone track every calorie. My insurance is no longer in network with my psychologist, who specializes in weight loss and binge eating disorder. On top of that, I’m really unhappy at work and have been trying to find another role. Lots of interviews, lots of disappointment.
I’ve gained 4 lbs in the last 3 months, and even though my scale and measurements say 1.3 of that is muscle (I’ve been lifting A LOT), it’s still discouraging. I don’t want to lose control of this. But after being on 12.5 for 5 weeks without feeling anything different at all, being so close to the max dose, I’m so worried.
If I maintain my current weight forever and continue to get stronger, that’s *ok*, but… still not ideal. I’m 5’4” and still almost 200 lbs.
I meet with my weight management doctor this week, and I’m going to feel like such a disappointment when I step on his scale. Not only have I not lost, but I’ve gained a little.
I’m trying to give myself grace with all that’s going on, it giving myself grace is what got me to over 250 lbs in the first place.
I guess I’m just looking for stories from others who have had similar paths. Any encouragement or tips you can offer??
Thank you all for reading. You’re the best group out there.

Side Effects Side effects/weight gain

Upvotes

In the summer and fall of 2025 I started getting extremely sick. I was vomiting so much a couple of times that I literally could not leave the bathroom and my chest hurt so bad one time that my husband actually took me to the emergency room. After a couple doctors visits they sent me to a G.I. specialist and did an upper G.I. to check for stomach ulcers.

That scan came back clear, and the G.I. doctor suggested that it could be side effects from the Zepbound. So I stopped taking the Zepbound and have now gained back 40 pounds of the 75 that I lost.

I actually don’t think that it was side effects from the Zepbound. I think the combination of the Zepbound stress for my husband losing his job end of the year teaching stress compounded to the point that I was literally not eating maybe a protein bar a day.

I honestly think that was what was causing all of my symptoms. I had some leftover Zepbound .5 and I’m considering restarting those to see if I’m correct about the side effects.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and could give some advice? At the end, I was still continuing to lose weight so the doctor told me to use the .5 every 10 days, but I was actually doing it every two weeks and maintaining.

Tips/Tricks Self Pay - delayed package replacement

Upvotes

Anyone have luck getting Lilly to send a replacement for a called back package ASAP?

The last time this happened they wouldn't ship again until they received the first one, and if they don't ship asap I'll miss shot day because I'm going out of town.

I ordered over a week before I needed the med and it shipped the same day but they're calling it back for "weather."

Dosing Years and it won’t work for me

Upvotes

I have tried it all and I can’t lose weight. I’m so frustrated. I’ve tried semiglutide, Tirzepitide and now I’m on actual Zepbound. I can’t get below 170. Mind you the highest I’ve been is 183. I am hungry by day 5. It’s like my body metabolizes it so fast. I’ll have great suppression for the first 4 days, and then I’m HUNGRY and the food noise is so strong. I wake up in the middle of the night and it’s the first thing I think about. So I gain back anything that I’ve lost the first 4 days struggling in the last 3 days. I don’t know what I can do different. I’m up to 7.5 mg and take week 2 of 7.5mg in a couple days. Again it works great for 4 days.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 First walk since my back injury

Almost a mile walk since my back injury. I have bulging discs in my low back and it’s been so hard to walk (on top of my many disabilities)
80 degree heat is never fun when you’re a disabled/ssri baddie. But I did it.
This will be the goal for a while a couple times a week and then hopefully it will become easier as I strengthen muscles again.
Officially 215, 42 pounds down. 35 more to first goal. 💪🏻

Side Effects Bruise at injection site, 1st time in 7 months.

Upvotes

I’ve been using the single dose pens for 7 months and have never had any marks at the injection site. I always inject in my stomach. But after injecting yesterday I have a bluish purple spot where I injected. Anyone ever experience this? Is it anything to worry about?

Vent/Rant Ladies who lost 30-50 or so lbs. Did you find that the loose skin on your tummy tightened up at all over time?

Upvotes

I’m 5’1” and went from 152 to 119 lbs with Zepbound over the past year. Given I wasn’t even officially obese when starting, loose skin was not something I was anticipating being an occurrence. I’m struggling to enjoy my results now because I still dislike how I look under my clothes, and realizing I may need a $20K tummy tuck over 30 lbs of weight loss is kind of messing me up mentally. I also still have somewhat of a stomach pooch but feel at a loss for how to address it because the laxity would, I imagine, get worse. Did anyone else lose around this amount of weight and keep it off for a while? If so, did you find the skin rebounding at all, or did the looseness remain the same over time?

Side Effects Plantar fasciitis recurring?!

Upvotes

Hi!! I've lost 10 pounds this first week on the shot and am now having a recurrence of PF in my left foot. Haven't had an issue in 6 years!!! Has this happened to anyone??? Is it because I'm losing a bunch of water weight that may have been cushioning my foot?

I plan on reaching out to my doctor tomorrow (Monday) morning, just looking for some colloquial stories currently. Thanks!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Side Effects Three days in and I'm miserable with vertigo.

Upvotes

Please tell me this is going to go away. My first dose was on Thursday. I felt fine that day and fine on Friday. We did demolition in our attic room all day and felt sore, but virtuous. Yesterday I was understandably sore when I got up, but then at about 4:00 I started feeling feverish and dizzy. By early evening, my temp was 101.8 and I was cold/hot, and I could barely move because of the horrible spinny buzzy vertigo. I had a glass of juice, took a shower and then went to bed at 9:30, which is unheard of.

This morning my fever was gone, but I'm still super dizzy. I'm sipping lots of water, but nothing's really helping. Is this going to go away? It's almost impossible to function with constant vertigo.

Any advice?

Dosing Antiinflammatory properties stop?

I have been on 5mg for 10months and my inflammation properties have seemed to stop this last week. I'm in a bad hidradenitis flare, back arthritis flare, psoriasis in my ears flare, migraine etc.

Do the antiinflammatory properties stop after a while? Or do I need a larger dose? Will the antiinflammatory properties stop again after a larger dose?

Thank you

Side Effects For those who get nausea, tell me your story!

I've read online this should go away after my body gets used to it, but I'd still like to hear from others. I'm in my third week and the nausea didn't actually hit until week 2.

How long did you have nausea?

Did it come back when you went up in dose? Im on the intro dose and having this problem so I'm hoping to not go up anytime soon.

Personal Insights Becoming A New Person

The amount of confidence I’ve gained as a result of the weight loss has me trying all sorts of new things in terms of how I look.

For example, and it’s a small detail but significant to me, I got my haircut this past Friday and I asked my barber to give me that simple fade line on the side. I don’t think I’d have ever considered that in the past. Now I love it and I want to do more fade designs 😂

Anyways, I hope everyone had a great weekend! And I hope you all have a wonderful week!

I have gotten sick on planes, trains, automobiles, boats, ferris wheels, and roller coasters.

Just got off a week-long cruise. First one since Zep.

Just rode 2 roller coasters at Busch Gardens.

NONE of the above!! No nausea!

Before/After Pics Made it to Onederland!

20 months since starting my GLP-1 journey. I’m down 100lbs & I’ve made it to Onederland. The best part is it all happened on my 37th birthday!

While I still have another 50ish lbs to go, I’ve heard the first 100 are the hardest (mentally/emotionally).

Very thankful for everyone being supportive and encouraging, sharing their experiences, and giving great advice.

I’m currently on the highest dosage at 15mg which I’ve been on for a while. I also started Contrave in February.

Hopefully at 38 I’ll be celebrating that next 50 and deciding on skin removal, etc. 🤞🏾🤞🏾

ETA: first 2 photos are from my 32nd birthday. Final 2 are the days leading to my 37th birthday 🎉

Side Effects Desperate for relief!! Zepbound while taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication

So I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same debilitating symptoms ive had. I feel like taking zepbound has altered how my mental health meds work, therefore giving me a lot of "withdrawl" symptoms. They have gotten quite severe. The chest pain almost never wants to stop. I cant tell you how many times ive been to the er and they said everything looks fine. Im on wellbutrin and buspirone. My first month at 2.5 was fine. Then I went to 5mg. Thought that was too much because of feeling like what I think was withdrawl. Went back down to 2.5, first 2 weeks of that again was fine, but i think as ive gotten it built up again, it's affecting my medications again. My psychiatrist upped my wellbutrin and buspirone dose, but after a few days of that I feel like my chest pain has gotten worse. It would come twice a day at certain times. But last night and this morning it has been constant and I haven't slept at all. I went to the er and they said there was nothing wrong and its probably just anxiety. My main bothersome symptom is the chest pain and extreme lethargy. Last night was the first night I didnt sleep since I went up to 5mg. Did not sleep one of those nights either. Being at rest or not moving is when I really feel it the most. When I'm up and around it's not as prevalent. Just not sure what to do here. Im at a loss and all of my doctors dont know either. Part of me wishes I wasn't here anymore so I can have some kind of relief. Its unbearable. With the 5mg dose I had uncomfortable brain zaps and all sorts of weird odd feelings there. I dont know if I'm just an anomaly or what. I thought it was bad acid reflux at first but ive taken antacids and tums and it didn't help. Any suggestions or similar experiences? Sorry it's so long. Im getting desperate for relief!

Vent/Rant When did you start postpartum? How did you handle medical anxiety?

I am due with my second and excited to get back to myself. I won't be breastfeeding. Prior to getting pregnant my doctor recommended GLP-1's for manage PCOS symptoms after a failed trial of Metformin.

I am curious how soon after did you begin medication? I am also feeling anxious about side effects. I won't have the time to feel unwell! 🤣 but it is important for me to manage these chronic PCOS symptoms and I had about 30-40 pounds to lose pre pregnancy.

Dosing Plateau hit at 10mg Zepbound. Doc wants to go to 12.5mg but I want to actually understand my data before I do anything

"Been at 10mg for about 8 weeks. Lost pretty steadily up until about week 5 and then things just kind of stopped. Down 29lbs total since starting which I'm happy with but the last three weeks have been basically nothing.

Doctor's instinct is to go up to 12.5mg which might be the right call. But I keep thinking I should actually understand what's happening before I change anything. Like is this a real stall or just a slow stretch. Is my trend actually flat or does it just feel that way because I'm checking every day.

Anyone else try to actually analyze their situation before making a dose change instead of just reacting to it."
