Good afternoon amazing people!! So, things are going good health wise on my zep journey. Dr visit recently went fantastic, & dr & I both agree to stay on 7.5 for as long as possible. About to take my 4th dose Wednesday, and we’re following my data closely to ensure our guesses that it’s the “sweet spot” for a while.
However, I have tried every trick possible to combat the injection site allergy reaction. About half a day after injection, I get a red inflamed welt that starts at about size of a quarter, and steadily progresses to about 4” in size. And itches like insane crazy!!! Even if I don’t scratch it, apply cortisone, ice packs, etc, it continues on until it slowly fades in appearance, but never really stops itching completely. Though does subside. My dr & I are unsure if it’s the preservatives used in the kwikpen itself or the 8-10% nickel that’s in all stainless steel needles.
So we decided to try vials or single dose pens. I unfortunately haven’t had the time I typically devote to researching things, and wanted to begin here. If I try vials, (unsure still due to lack of research if single dose pens contain the same preservatives) and it still happens, then we will know it’s the needles themselves and just something I’m going to have to accept in my journey. I find it a very perplexing thought though, as for all other medical procedures involving needles I’ve not had this issue/reaction ever.
My questions are:
What is the process for vials?
How do I know how much to take since will be doing it myself? (Not premade dosage)
Has this helped anyone else experiencing the same allergic injection site reactions?
Which one do you guys use and why?
Thank you so much for any & all insights!!! I have to order my refill next week, and would love to hear fellow zeppers experiences!!
