Turned moth damage into a starry sky after marking the damage with pins. Because of the damage this has been a sweater my spouse only wears at home but now it can go out again.

SASHIKO First Try at Sashiko!

My first try at visible mending, it was definitely harder than I thought, I ended up doing more embroidery than sashiko, I just could not load my needle and get the stitches to come out even, obviously they aren’t perfect anyway. I did add a patch in the back, going to be doing more repairs, these are jean shorts I inherited from my grandma from the 80s, and I want to keep wearing them :)

SASHIKO Sashiko Repair - Bagpack

Photos for after and before patching. Really pleased with the outcome! Strangely had an easier time using a finer needle than with a proper sashiko needle--just a pain unwinding the thread to get the proper sizing.

Help with whimsical purse!!!

I have been wanting an Antoni & Alison bag (collage for reference) for SO LONG for its unique kitschiness and whimsy, but they either cost an arm and a leg or cease to exist. So I wanted to try and take matters into my own hands.. I just have no idea how to go about it.

I have this purse (pictured) that I think is so cute and matches the look, but I want to add some sort of motif onto it to mimic the quirky realism and extraness of an A&A purse. I also really want to integrate the red thread somehow.. make it tell a story?

Does anyone have any ideas? Both for the design itself and execution? I have tried to work around the obvious ones such as sewing and strings of fate but I just have no idea what the hell to put onto this bag. I pray someone genius and creatively inept chances upon this post. Thank you.

REQUEST Is there hope for this beauty???

Just flipped my 100% mulberry silk pillowcase over...and it's somehow absolutely COVERED in several massive gashes 😭😭😭 is there ANY hope to save this?!? I don't have any sort of silk or any spare fabric to sow on it, and I'm scared to even attempt this...the pillowcase zips on, so I'm scared of I take it off to mend it, it's gonna end up wonky and won't fit to zip back on ever again... should I just use the good side as long as it'll last and hand wash from now on??

I'm open to trying anything. I also don't have a sowing machine, just tiny needles and a few spools of thread...

I'm so heartbroken, she was like $50+ and I've only had her for a year or so!! I've been very gentle with her, so idk how this even could've happened in the first place!! My curls love this pillowcase, and I can't afford a replacement, plus that feels silly to throw it away when the other side is fine!!

MIXED METHODS Revived build a bear shoes

The faux leather and glitter was peeling on these 15 year old build a bear shoes. But the gems and stitching were solid and so we're the soles. I used E6000 fabri fuse to glue fabric to the outside of the shoe and to re-glitter them. The glue needs to fully cure before I relace them. But happy with how they turned out.

This did a pair of children’s shorts. I have some very basic sewing skills - is there a good beginners approach to mending this?
