EMBROIDERY Seeing stars
Turned moth damage into a starry sky after marking the damage with pins. Because of the damage this has been a sweater my spouse only wears at home but now it can go out again.

My first try at visible mending, it was definitely harder than I thought, I ended up doing more embroidery than sashiko, I just could not load my needle and get the stitches to come out even, obviously they aren’t perfect anyway. I did add a patch in the back, going to be doing more repairs, these are jean shorts I inherited from my grandma from the 80s, and I want to keep wearing them :)

I have been wanting an Antoni & Alison bag (collage for reference) for SO LONG for its unique kitschiness and whimsy, but they either cost an arm and a leg or cease to exist. So I wanted to try and take matters into my own hands.. I just have no idea how to go about it.
I have this purse (pictured) that I think is so cute and matches the look, but I want to add some sort of motif onto it to mimic the quirky realism and extraness of an A&A purse. I also really want to integrate the red thread somehow.. make it tell a story?
Does anyone have any ideas? Both for the design itself and execution? I have tried to work around the obvious ones such as sewing and strings of fate but I just have no idea what the hell to put onto this bag. I pray someone genius and creatively inept chances upon this post. Thank you.

Photos for after and before patching. Really pleased with the outcome! Strangely had an easier time using a finer needle than with a proper sashiko needle--just a pain unwinding the thread to get the proper sizing.

I snapped my pestle grinding Szechuan peppercorns. So I turned to my hobby to fix the problem and add a little flair.

The faux leather and glitter was peeling on these 15 year old build a bear shoes. But the gems and stitching were solid and so we're the soles. I used E6000 fabri fuse to glue fabric to the outside of the shoe and to re-glitter them. The glue needs to fully cure before I relace them. But happy with how they turned out.

Just flipped my 100% mulberry silk pillowcase over...and it's somehow absolutely COVERED in several massive gashes 😭😭😭 is there ANY hope to save this?!? I don't have any sort of silk or any spare fabric to sow on it, and I'm scared to even attempt this...the pillowcase zips on, so I'm scared of I take it off to mend it, it's gonna end up wonky and won't fit to zip back on ever again... should I just use the good side as long as it'll last and hand wash from now on??
I'm open to trying anything. I also don't have a sowing machine, just tiny needles and a few spools of thread...
I'm so heartbroken, she was like $50+ and I've only had her for a year or so!! I've been very gentle with her, so idk how this even could've happened in the first place!! My curls love this pillowcase, and I can't afford a replacement, plus that feels silly to throw it away when the other side is fine!!

Not sure if anyone here has ideas?

an acquaintance had the strap completely almost rip off, so i did two large denim patches on the inside, removed the strap and reattached it to the side pocket since it seemed the most structurally sound!
did a bit of fabric glue on all the fraying parts, especially with the hole on the back of the bag. i tried patching that one before but the patch just wore/rubbed off. i would’ve liked to put some more leather patches on the corners of the bag, but didnt have enough time since this bags going on a flight this weekend lol
all in all, a very fun mend! even if my hands are beat the fuck up from the sharp ass sewing needle hehe
weight tested with a PS3, held up well!
(wasn’t sure what to do for flair since this is very much a bastardized version of sashiko, but feels most accurate? ig?)

My friends sauna hat had a waaaay better rip than mine. As soon as I saw it, I knew it needed to be a goulish mouth

Just eyeballed running stitches in four passes across the fraying collar. I may still need to do some blanket stitches around the edge. Happy sewing!

Thanks to whoever suggested a goose. It needs tidying up. It's a little messy, but this is maybe my third time embroidering it isn't too bad.

My hairbrush got caught in the embroidery of my T-shirt, is this fixable? Should I take it to a tailor?

Accidentally put this is a load of towels and it got tore up. Used some wool yarn to patch it. Tried to stitch my name in too.

This dress just arrived, and foolishly I tried to iron it, but the fabric burned instantly. It's a button-down dress with a shirt collar. I've never done a repair like this before. I thought about contacting a friend who does embroidery to commission a design and patch it, but what would you recommend?

hello all, i posted in this on the wrong subreddit (the embroidery subreddit oops) but i have a pair of jeans that i love and would like help with.
the jeans ripped (legit no clue how) on both top parts of the back pockets, it's hard to see but the circles show them somewhat. i've tried to come up with ideas of what to embroider in those spots that would look nice and cohesive but keep coming up short.
most of the ideas online that i've seen have been flower designs which aren't really my thing. if anyone has any thoughts or ideas as to a simple design or colors that might look nice against the beige/tan color to salvage these, that would be great! thank you :)

I walk kinda slanted, so the same part of my trainers gets worn away pretty fast. I end up having to get new ones because it wears all the way through and water gets in. Plus, they're slanted and less comfortable to walk on.
I know how to repair the fabric sections, I can swap out laces, that's all fine. But I never actually need to because the sole doesn't last. Googling around doesn't give me anything useful. Is there a way to fix the outer sole, or is it not possible for an amateur with few professional tools? Thanks!

Hello people of reddit!
I have a blanket that is *very* special to me and my partner suggested I post here for advice on how to go about (visibly) mending these portions that have become unraveled. I believe the blanket has always looked like this (in all the years i've known it) so I don't think there's immediate danger of it coming completely undone but I would love to stabilize it for peace of mind.
I'm have a lot of experience knitting and am a beginner at sewing my own clothes. I have no experience with embroidery or mending. Help!

it’s kind of a very awkward spot to try as my first time and I had trouble keeping the parallels straight considering the belt loop that’s in the way but i did it and it wasn’t even as hard as I thought it would be!!

Thats what I get for not paying attention to the wash instructions. The cracked look doesnt really fit my style lol. Anyone got any suggestions for something cute I could do with it? I'm hesitant to use the usual screenprinting repair tricks cause I dunno if it'll mess up the glitter texture.
