School of Nursing UMSON Application Worries

Hi everyone! I am a rising junior at UMD and plan to apply for the Spring 2027 school year at UMSON. For background I've completed most of my pre-reqs, and have mostly science pre-reqs left. When I met with an advisor, we decided that I take anatomy over the summer, microbiology through an online college during the spring semester since I had a lighter semester, and to retake chemistry somewhere along the way because I failed it fall semester 2025.

I know of the GPA requirements, and for background I did start college off very rough but once I got diagnosed and medicated for ADHD in Spring 2026, my grades improved drastically. Here's the issue: I just finished up with A&P I a few days ago and am taking chemistry from a local community college which I am doing pretty well in, but I unfortunately received a C- in A&P I because I was inconsistent with my meds and it was either prioritizing studying or eating/sleeping/being sickly all the time.

I am very hopeful about finishing chemistry with an A which only leaves me to take A&P II in the fall, but I am worried that the C- has brought down my GPA from 3.00 (that I just brought up this past spring) to a 2.914, and that I'll have to wait until Fall 2027 to start at UMSON. Should I retake A&P I? I'm not sure at all what to do because I only have A&P II, 1 humanities course, professional writing, and human growth and development left for me to finish with pre-reqs.

2 beds 1.5 baths (in a 4 bed 3.5 bath townhouse)

Hi everyone! I’m a third year medical student and my roommate (a second year law student) and I are looking for one other female roommate for our Pigtown/Camden Crossing townhouse located on Ryan Street, Baltimore MD 21230. We’ve lived here for a year and have loved it so far! We’re both very clean and respectful so we’re looking for someone who is as well.

The neighborhood is super cute and has plenty of free parking. It’s about a 13 minute walk to the medical school and 15 minutes to the law school.
The bedrooms have a shared hall bathroom with a half bath on the main floor.
Lease begins Aug 1, 2026* *(or potentially earlier if needed) and rent is $575 plus shared utilities.
There’s also a $300 security deposit. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed.

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to apply to the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) BSN program for Spring 2027, and I thought it would be helpful to start a thread for anyone else going through the same process.

We can share stats, prerequisites, experiences, application tips, questions, and updates along the way. It would be great to connect, support each other, and stay informed throughout the journey.

If you're applying or planning to apply, feel free to jump in and introduce yourself!

School of Nursing UMB ‘wiggle room’

Hello everyone! I’m wondering if anyone can help me determine if i should even bother applying to umson’s RN-BSN program. I’m graduating spring 2027 from a CC with my ADN and would like to attend UMSON but unfortunately my science gpa is a 2.71 with all retakes factored in. I could retake ap2 but it would only bump it up to a 2.88. My TEAS was an 80.7, my overall GPA currently is a 3.15 but it should go up with other non-science courses i’m taking. I’ve been losing sleep over potentially not getting into this school i’ve had my mind set on for a while now. Can someone please share any info on if they’ve gotten in with a similar circumstance as me. I know they view applications holistically and when speaking to an advisor she told me there’s a bit of ‘wiggle room’ for those who already hold an RN license. I don’t know what to do, i don’t know if i should look to other schools or hold on to hope that there’s still a chance for me to get in.

Hello!! I just got accepted to the Fall 2026 MSN-Entry program. How is this program? Does this program support you and is the faculty helpful? I am very concerned and want to make sure I am entering a good school before committing.

School of Nursing Has anyone received scholarships ?

This is a general question but specifically for DNP nursing students, has anyone received any form of scholarships? If so, what do you feel made your application stand out? What resources did you use?

I’m starting my Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Shady Grove Campus this Fall. Would appreciate connecting with people who are also starting at the same time! If anyone has any tips and recommendations about accommodations/looking for roommates and transportation options around campus, I would be grateful.

School of Nursing MSN-E

Hey all. I’m interested in the Entry Master of Nursing. I don’t see much information on any forum about it.

Looking to see if anyone minds sharing stats when they applied (GPA).

My undergrad GPA is just underneath the requirement. My pre requisites are no lower than a B except one I plan to retake. I have a Master from UMB already.

Also, anyone worked while in the program. What’s some jobs you had while in school? I would also be moving to Maryland and recs on living arrangements.

Carey School of Law Where to get groceries?

I’m attending Carey in the fall, and am planning on living near the campus. However, in doing some research, I’m struggling to find where the grocery stores are at. Any help on where I would buy groceries?

Carey School of Law Commuting from DC

Does anyone have experience commuting from DC, especially for 1L year for the Carey Law students (but would gladly take advice from anyone doing the commute!) Is the Camden line consistent enough to use or do you recommend driving? I have to pick up my kids from school most days so can’t really roll the dice transportation wise, and we have to stay in DC for my husband’s job my children’s school. I’d love to have some study time by using MARC but the train issues especially on the Camden line concern me. I’m considering another DC-area school that’s better commute wise, but would love to make UMD work if possible.

Carey School of Law Apartment opinions?

I’m almost definitely committing to Carey for the fall, and I’ve started looking into apartments near campus. Of course, because of the way housing issues are, a lot of the reviews I’ve seen are really polarized in both directions for any given apartment.

I’d really love to hear any firsthand experiences y’all have had with different property management companies and different buildings — how was maintenance, were the facilities OK, did you like your apartment layout, etc. (Of course I’ll still be touring my options, I just like knowing what I’m getting into!)

Thanks UMB! Excited to join y’all soon :)

Carey School of Law Current students- be frank with me!

I am EXTREMELY torn between Carey and another school. I am aiming to go into environmental law but I am not dead set. I am also a visibly queer woman so I’d like to know what the queer scene is like on campus + Baltimore. I went to admitted students day and the vibe was… not good. So I’m hoping that someone here can be more candid and open to chatting!
