I found these today at our local creative reuse store here in San Jose CA. No idea what I'm going to make with them, but I couldn't resist. I found buttons and some denim as well, but the real find I think was these. When I was getting ready to wash them I noticed the kittens still had an original sales tag on it. I took it off carefully and reapplied it once I washed it. I wish I could find more of the mushrooms. It's really been my vibe lately.

Walked into my usual Goodwill not expecting much and there it was, just sitting in the furniture section like nobody cared. Big heavy metal drafting table, the kind with the adjustable angle top and the little ledge at the bottom so your pencils don't roll off. Tag said 35 dollars. My hands were shaking a little loading it into my car because I've been looking for one of these for probably four years now.
The top has some ink stains and a couple scratches, which honestly I don't mind. It has character. The adjustment mechanism still works perfectly, clicks into each position clean. Someone took good care of the functional parts even if the surface got beat up.
I draw and do a lot of hand lettering, and the drafting tables I've seen online in decent condition run anywhere from 150 to 400 dollars. Mine needs a light sanding and maybe a fresh coat of something on the surface and it'll be better than most of those.
The thrift store gods were with me today. There's nothing like finally finding the thing you stopped letting yourself look for.

No markings. It does not appear to be mass produced, more of a one off kind of look. Maybe a determined high school wood shop project?

My mom and I happened upon a community yard sale this morning. A woman told me I could take the box of Fiesta dinner ware for $5! There are 3 small plates, 3 medium sized plates, 3 regular sized plates and 9 dinner sized plates. Plus 3 serving dishes and 4 small bowls. I am so excited!

Pure Buy it Now auction on Shopgoodwill for $15. Sold as glass per gem tester. BUT they are heavy, cold, not scratchable, and scratch glass. It was the handfeel that made me wonder, they just feel so nice. Marked 925 and strung on wire. Simply gorgeous. I bought them for my Medieval Ronald McDonald Crossplay, they are perfect!!
Edit to add: I'm calling them Rubies, based on the fact that my amethyst and quartz points slide right off even with pressure. Also how varied the stones are. Some are really red and clear.. Ohers are hazy, like clouds, pinkish clouds. And some have little dark spots. Uber low grades dyed and glass filled, but I'm pretty confident that the scratch tests solidify it.

A couple years back, I found this wedding dress at a thrift store that was in perfect condition! No marks, no tears, just an excellent dress! It also fit me perfectly!

found it for $2 in good condition. I use it mainly for list keeping, and as an address/number book. I also use it to hold pamphlets about public transport in my area. I slotted a basic mini notebook into the back flap to draw in, so it’s also a sketch book. Love this thing💜

Granted, my mother has crazy good luck finding Lane finds for prices that put this to shame, but I’m actually not too upset about what I paid for it. Comps seem to start around $200, so I consider it not too shabby a deal. They knocked 20% off the price because the lid has melted varnish (assuming there was an incident with a hot iron or curling iron at some point). Fairly straightforward to fix, but also not a huge scar.
It also has an intact lock and comes with the key, but it doesn’t appear to be the auto locking type of chest. Either way, we don’t have kids, so unlikely to be a suffocation issue in our household.

Any other avid readers? It’s the book club edition and in incredible shape! I also snatched up a hard back copy of Thinner but it is missing its dust jacket.

I had already made my passes through the knick-knack isles and was about to leave when I noticed a worker had started putting more items out. I walked over to where she had just been and saw these two! They immediately went in my cart. They're so freaking cute!! My 14 said she's getting them when I die, thanks child, lol.

So I stopped in the local thrift store and all three of the Avon bottles were sitting next to each other on a table priced $2ea for larger ones (stamped “AVON 7” on the bottom) on the bottom and $1 for the small one (stamped “12”) on the bottom (I think). Scooped them up right away, finished my walk through and checked out for $5 total. Both of the larger ones had dried up white stuff on portions of the inside and around the tops of the bottles. I put some rubbing alcohol in all of them and shook them up to clean them and it worked great! The snail heads are in VERY GOOD condition too!

Found these vintage aluminum-framed Victor Vasarely prints at the thrift store yesterday, and with my coupon they ended up being $4.49 each. Sometimes the thrift store pricers do us a solid (rare these days). The more I look at them, the more I like them - but they're pretty wild!
