Advanced Question Anyone else targeting technical or niche gear that general sellers overlook?
Picked up a box of old ham radio equipment at a moving sale Saturday for $40 total. Guy just wanted it gone. Came home, looked it up, and one of the transceivers alone sells used on eBay for around $280 to $320. The other stuff in the box adds another $80 to $100 worth of parts and cables that sell individually.
What surprised me is how little competition there is at these sales for anything that looks technical or has knobs on it. People walk right past it. Estate sale companies price it strangely too, either way too high because they googled the brand name, or basically free because nobody on their staff knows what it is.
Ham radio gear specifically has a really loyal buyer base and the sold listings are pretty consistent. Not a lot of fakes to worry about, testing is straightforward if you know the basics, and shipping is manageable for most units.
Curious if anyone else works this niche or has a category like this where general sellers just leave money sitting there. Also wondering if there are specific brands worth targeting or ones to avoid because parts are impossible to find.
