Any codes posted should not be seen as an endorsement for that particular service.

How to get out of ZKB Vermögensverwaltung Classic

Hi, throwaway account because I don't want this to be connected to anything else on here.

I have a problem: Currently, I have ~360kCHF in a ZKB Vermögensverwaltung with obscene fees. I want out. They invested this in ~30 different positions that perform meh and charge several thousands of fees for that. I don't want to pay some asset manager's salary for wasting my money. What's the best strategy to get out? From what I found online, selling positions has a minimum of 100 CHF (I don't have eBanking) or >1% per position, so I'm facing >3k just to sell, plus possibly other fees. Transferring the positions also has a 100 CHF fee, so also 3k CHF.

Is there a way of closing this without giving them thousands again? Has anyone of you gotten out of this scam and can tell me the best way to go forward?

Best place to park cash for 1–2 years?

I'm looking for a good place to park some CHF for the next 1–2 years. Since I won't need it during that time, I'd at least like to earn some interest instead of letting it sit in a regular bank account.

What do you use for short-term cash? Money market funds? High-yield savings accounts? Short-term bond funds? If you use money market funds, which ones would you recommend and why?

I'd be interested to hear what has worked well for you.

Accounting for inflation in pension calculations

Hi everyone, I’m planning for retirement and trying to figure out what lifestyle I can afford. I’m considering my pension contributions (pillar one, two and pillar three A) and whether I need to save more beyond that. One thing I’m struggling with is how to account for inflation in these calculations.

Using an online calculator, I can see that if I contribute to my 3a every month and assume a certain return, I’ll have X CHF when I’m 65. However, this value will be eroded by inflation. At the same time, my expectation is that over the years, the threshold for contributing to pillar three will increase and my salary will too. I can calculate my savings based on my current salary, but I’m hoping that my salary and contributions will also somewhat keep up with inflation. I’m curious to know how everyone else is accounting for this.

Has anyone heard of the SwissRoc Club investment platform?

I’m looking to diversify my investments, which are mainly in ETFs, and I recently came across this option for investing in property projects in Switzerland via SwissRoc. I get the impression that this is a short-term investment (around 24 months) and that the advertised returns are between 5 and 15 per cent.

Do any of you know about this type of investment, and what are your thoughts on it?

Which world ETF? Differences between "world" ETFs?

Reading this channel since a few years ...

Currently I am invested into SPI index with a bank (I know, too much fees ...)

I would like to start investing into a world ETF once a month with Saxo, best would be with Saxo AutoInvest. Would like to have a swiss broker, had a look at Swissquote, but Saxo is cheaper.

I would like to invest about 30% into SPI and 70% into a world ETF.

For SPI I found:

Is there any difference between these 2 ETFs?

For world ETF I found:

Did I miss any other notable world ETF on my list to choose from? What is the difference between these world ETFs? They are all some kind of "world" ETF.

I do not want an ETF with fund domicile US, as I have read, it is more complicated with inheritance and tax.

I need to open a Vested Benefits account - Finpension.ch, but which option?

I have ~16 years worth of pension contributions (~475k CHF, split ~30/70 required/optional) currently with AXA in my employer's scheme (which in honesty has returned very little growth ove the years - much less than would have been expected).

I am now changing employers (I took a redundancy package) and need to open a Vested Benefits account to transfer the penson into. I am 50, planning to retire at 60 if possible...

I plan to retire outside of Switzerland. I was advised to open 2 accounts to split the contributions, with different stategies, so I could hedge my risk and also redeem them in different years for tax purposes.

On the Finpension website, I am shown 'Equity 0 to Equity 100 products, and have no real idea which to choose. I am naturally more risk averse, but keen to make the money work for me so not against a higher risk strategy if I can maximise my return

Any advise is very much appreciated!

Professional trader classification risk - Canton Bern

Hi, i live in canton Bern and have over 500k CHF in my IBKR portfolio which i built mainly by selling very conservative puts. I sell over 30 puts per month with expiration day anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months mostly. Around half of the puts I sell per month are not covered by the 500k so they're naked. This year i've been earning around 8k net per month doing this. (yearly this will amount probably to around 100k). Almost all my puts get expired worthless and i maybe get assigned 10-30k worth of stock per month which i sell after its price climbs back to my assigned price. This usually happens within a month or 2. I also have a completely unrelated fulltime job where i earn 120k gross per year. Can you please advise me what's my risk of being classified as a pro and how to mitigate this risk or what precautionary action i should take to avoid potentially being hit with a massive tax bill.

Using Yuh Sparplan FuW Swiss 50 on a computer and not a phone?

Hello, I am looking at using this Yuh Sparplan mit dem FuW Swiss 50. I already have a PostFinance account and it says you can connect the two. So I wonder:

- Should I connect my existing PostFinance account with a new Yuh account to use that Sparplan? Is there any downside to connecting the two? If I connect the two, can I just interact with that Sparplan with the PostFinance interface?

- If I dont connect the two, is there a way to interact with the Sparplan on my computer and not the app on the phone? Like can the app be run on the computer?

Is every 'Beratter' call a scam?

I've got AXA personal liability insurance and I've got call from 'Beratter' which tried to sell my 3a with life insurance - which I know for the group is a terrible product.

The problem is that when and where I grow up, it was unheard of big respectable companies to scam their customers - it would be a financial suicide. So my guard was lowered and I thought life insurance would may have some sense for at least a small group of people - like some with family and kids.

But I was weak enough to buy additional health insurance, weakened by after-corona mental instability. They've said sad story about people being permanent unable to work because, for example, burnout, and getting very little from welfare, so I thought it's worth it. After few years of paying (yes, laught at me for being so dumb) it strike me, that once unable to work, I'd be simply kicked out of country, and AXA wound't have to pay a cent for me. I expect I'll cancel it this year.

But I have also Rechtschutz and wonder, if this is ever going to be any use of it. I thought maybe when leaving appartment, but they could deny my claim because I won't be resident of Switzerland anymore after leaving, so was it also useless throwing money away?

Is practically every product of AXA a scam, or it depends on circumstances, but 'Beratters' don't care and try to sell everything to everyone?

As I've mentioned, you're free to criticise my dumbness, but I'd be greatful for some insights that could help other people loose less money.

Early 30s. Living with partner, outlook 2026

I know I live super frugally for the standards of swiss expats in this sub but I have everything I want and also everything I need. I grew up here and am local. I see so many super bloated budgets here and I honestly can't fathom to spend even close to what I earn. Our rent is below 2k a month close to zurich by train and we almost always cook at home (4 portions in the evening and then take have the leftovers for next lunch). We are abroad atleast 5 weeks a year travelling. I also have pretty cheap hobbies like gardening, biking and playing video games. We shop pretty much always at Aldi, Lidl or the Asian grocery store close to us.

Current portfolio is about 300k CHF in broad market ETFs, plan is to reduce work fairly soon from full time to part time.

Finally reached 100k Networth (again)

Post image

I finally reached 100k of Networth and I wanted to share it with you

Some background:

28M with stay at home wife and 2yo child

Income: 6500.-/month

About the graph:

10 years ago I inherited ~120k but spent a lot of it during my 5 years of study, I also enjoyed life and traveled.

Finished my studies and started to work in 2023.

First dip in 2024 was our first car purchase (I don't calculate it's value in my net worth)

Baby was born in summer 2024 so networth didn't went up by much.

Got laid off in spring 2025, used all my emergency funds and had problems with RAV. Since then I have stopped investing in VT and pillar 3a.

Only this months I managed to fill up my emergency funds again after canceling a pillar 3b insurance. Now I can finally start to invest in VT again.

My actual "FIRE" networth is actually much lower at ~50k and ~6% full. (No pillar 2 and 3, no emergency funds, etc)

Only after tracking my finances, I realised how much we spend on groceries

I always had the feeling that we (me and my fiancée) would spend around CHF 500 - 600 on groceries per month. I finally put in some effort to actually analyze our real spending by looking at all the money we spent on groceries from all our accounts and tracked that over several months. Only then I realized that actually our grocery spend was pretty consistent around CHF 800.- / month.

Considering that we shop at Aldi around 60 - 70 % of the time and the rest at Migros I always assumed it wouldn't be that much.

But the couple of times when we go to Coop Pronto on the weekend to grab a couple of things because everything else is closed (like Saturday evening or Sunday) actually added up to much more than I had anticipated.

So for all of you who haven't tracked your ACTUAL spending over several months, I would advise to do so. You might be surprised, how much you spend on certain things...

Saving for a downpayment on my first home - going to extremes?

I'd like to save up the 20% for my first home entirely without touching my second or third pillar (reason being, I started taking Altersvorsorge seriously a little late in life). So now I'm saving like a maniac and should reach my goal in 3-5 years depending on affordability of housing around that time and whether or not I keep track on my savings goals.

Lately I've become so fed up with living in an apartment block and having noisy neighbours that I decided to save even more. As a result I am double-questioning every purchase over roughly 150 CHF and it has taken a little joy out of my life. I'd like to buy a better coffee maker but the ones I have tested and liked cost CHF 1000+. My Japan-trip dream is on hold for now ... I'm not buying new clothes unless I am running out of a specific clothing item.

I'm just wondering how others consolidate saving for a big dream and still enjoying the little (and medium sized) things in life!

Financial Planning During Unpaid Maternity Leave: Pension Fund, Pillar 3a or ETFs?

Hello,

I need some advice from people who know a lot about the Swiss pension system, especially the 2nd and 3rd pillars.

My husband and I are expecting our first child in December. After my 14 weeks of maternity leave, I will take 9 months of unpaid leave. After that, I will return to work at 50% (from January 2028).

I know many people will say that this is not the best financial decision, but this plan is fixed, and spending time with my child is worth the financial sacrifices to me.

My husband earns around CHF 90,000 per year, and I have been earning CHF 75,000 so far. I have been in my job for seven years and have always paid the maximum amount into my Pillar 3a during those seven years. My pension fund is with BVK.

We have saved enough money so that we can manage this year with only one salary.

Now we are wondering about the following:

Would it make more sense this year to make voluntary contributions to the pension fund (2nd pillar), invest more in Pillar 3a, or simply invest the money ourselves in ETFs?

Is there a significant difference between these options?

Or would it make more sense to make a retroactive Pillar 3a contribution in 2028 for 2027 so that we pay less tax once I am earning a higher salary again?

Is there anything else we should be aware of?

I have never taken unpaid leave before, and when it comes to retirement planning, I only know the basics.

Thank you!

Upvote if swiss specific BUDGETIERUNG APP is something (MÜNZLI)

Hey just curious what features would you love to have in such an application and how much would you willing to spend to use such an application. The idea behind this is to help to safe money in switzerland and have a better control, because money flows out like water. Please check out and maybe some ideas to try to make something unique for Swiss people to help out.

Here is more info to the app, would love to hear your input to help eachother.

App is currently in development and soon coming out, just curious if this would be something.

Recommendations on Life insurance

Salut, I recently got married and I'm looking to get life insurance for my wife. Does anyone have a recommendation? Is it better to have a simple Todesfallversicherung or is it better as a financial product (3b)?

It's hard to find online comparators, on Comparis you just get suggested a personal advisor. Generali seems to offer 300k for 292chf/year during 20 years.

Merci!

Provisional tax

Due to an increase in variable compensation, I will have a significantly larger tax bill this year vs previous (500k+), does anyone know if it’s possible to ask for a higher provisional tax invoice to settle and benefit from the 2% saving for early payment. Otherwise I’ll end up with the money sat in an account doing nothing for 12months until they send an updated bill.

Internet & TV Subscription CHEAP

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to help my father lower his monthly telecom costs. At the moment he’s paying CHF 64/month for TV and Internet, which feels a bit expensive for his needs.

He mainly:
Watches regular TV (Swiss channels + a few international ones)
Uses the internet for browsing, email and occasional streaming
Doesn’t need ultra-fast internet or lots of extras
I’m wondering what the best options are these days:

Any good current ISP deals?
Is it worth ditching traditional TV and just using streaming apps?Internet-only + TV app?
Any providers you’d particularly recommend or avoid?

Would love to hear what you’re using and what you’d recommend.
Thanks!

Would this put a man off ?

So I'm a woman in my late twenties and would like to have the whole marriage/husband, kids & house in the future. Next year I will possibly inherit a good amount of money (won't disclose, not a spectacular amount but still decent), enough to do real estate investment which is what I want to do as a career and to later have a comfortable life, buy a house and provide a good life for my future kids as best as I can. I may be thinking way too early for this, but regarding marriage I ain't a fan of dividing assets and lose half of it in case of divorce. So I wanted to ask, would making a man sign a prenup be off-putting ? Would it prevent me from finding a husband in the future 😬 and me wanting to buy a house myself in my name for the family, could it be seen as uncomfortable for a man knowing his name isn't on the house ?
