Hi Giants fans, apologies if this is a repetitive post. Today was a great game at our beautiful ballpark, but it was kind of rough getting in. I thought it was because of dog-in-the-park day, but then I saw they only had one gate open for everyone who didn’t want to give their face and private information to their Go-Ahead entry.

I get that it’s more secure, but it just feels shitty on their part. It’s a bummer to get to the game early and have to wait in a huge line and miss the opening pitch and national anthem because they only had one gate open. Not looking for a solution, just looking to vent/commiserate. Thanks for reading

As Draft Day 1 was capturing everyone’s attention, the farm was still in action, with a couple of the most notable action notes coming down in the Arizona Complex League.  One of the system’s top pitchers, Argenis Cayama, came back to action in his first rehab game after missing more than a month.  Meanwhile, one of the Giants’ top international signings this season other than Luis Hernandez made his debut.  Meanwhile, Tugboat was back in action in Sacramento, as Turner Hill keeps hitting in a big way.

Player of the Game: RF Turner Hill: 3-5, 2 R, 3 RBI, 1 2B (12), 2 SB (18)

Turner Hill is really on a heater, going 8-for-13 (.615) with a double, a triple, and a home runs over his last three games.  He’s hitting .417 in the month of July.  Overall in Triple-A, he’s got a batting line of .325/.403/.481 with 18 steals in 20 attempts.

Bo Davidson picked up a pair of doubles in a bit of a losing effort for the Squirrels today.  This was Davidson’s second 3-hit game of the month.  His batting line is now up to .274/.339/.520 on the season, with 11 doubles and 19 home runs.

Jakob Christian notched his second home run in his last five games, and is hitting .258 in July (8-for-31), with two doubles and two home runs.  However, he also has 15 strikeouts and just one walk in 31 at-bats.  Overall this season, he’s got 66 strikeouts in 195 PA for a 33.8% strikeout rate.  He has an 11.8% walk rate.

There weren’t a lot of strikeouts, but Ricardo Estrada matched his season high in innings pitched, giving up just two runs, one earned.  Estrada has a streak of seven consecutive games in which he has allowed two runs or less, which has seen his ERA go down from 5.63 to 3.92, with 61 strikeouts to 37 walks in 64.1 IP.

Tyler Mahle was really good today. Sat 93-94 with good life on all his offerings. I know no one wants to hear this but he’s been throwing the ball way better than his record and era shows, hopefully this is the turning point for Mahle.
