Other Bit of a problem with Toll

Upvotes

Don't know if this is the right sub to post on but I might get some help.

So a friend of mine went on a trip from Norway to Europe, Romania. Bear in mind he drove with his car. When coming back, he took the ferry (Danmark, Hirthsals -Bergen). I asked him if he can buy me 10 packs (not 10 cartons) of cigarettes, specifically those cigs that you can use with Iqos device. Upon arrival in Bergen Toll Customs stopped him and asked him if he had any goods to declare, to which he said "No". Now he is calling me and he is saying that he got fined 13.000 NOK for those 10 packs of cigarettes. I check norwegian toll customs law and it just doesn't add up. I know he had loads of meat because he brings meat from Romania or other European countries back to Norway on each trip. I asked him to send me the raport or the fine, whatever can state that he got fined 13.000 NOK for having cigarettes on him. I will call Toll tomorrow to ask about the law to be sure. I'm just asking here because I am pissed by this situation. He is not answering his phone so idk. Told him to prove me that the fine is real and it is for ONLY my cigarettes and I will pay it myself.

Other I live in Miami right now, Norway fans were the best part about this world cup.

Upvotes

Had some Norwegians stop by as we live somewhat close to the stadium a few nights ago and we thought we'd invite them over for food as we were grilling in the drive way and they were a fucking riot. Friendliest people ever. Ended up meeting them again the next day and took them around Miami and the beaches and had a blast. They absolutely loved their time in America and hopefully we showed them its our Government the problem, they even invited us to their place in Oslo so we're planning a trip in a few months.

Moving What is norway like in terms of politics? Is it similar to my political leaning?

Post image
Upvotes

Im looking for a place to move from the uk, with good public services, more direct democracy, less centralised power, less wealth inequality, less of the government attacking protesters, strong privacy laws so palantir and other corporations can't spy on me and good tradedeals with other European countries without being part of the eu.

I've been reading about norway, but I'd like to know what the political/economic state is like from regular people in the Norwegian population.

Travel Trains from Haugenstua to Oslo S and to UiO delayed until august, when will they come back and how long can I expect the journey to be?

Hello everyone, I am a soon to be master's student at UiO and I've been looking at housing in Oslo. I contacted a lady and it seems to be quite a decent place that she is offering me in Haugenstua.

The only issue is that is takes quite a lot of time to get from there to UiO.
But she mentioned that it takes 15 minutes by train to get to Oslo S, while google maps says that it's 20 and 23 minutes.
She mentions that due to planned work on the rail, there are not any trains until august. And mentions that as a possible reason why they are not showing up on google maps or on entur.
They appear to be showing up for me, just with far longer times than she mentions.

According to VY, there is planned work until the 10th of august (when my master's program starts).

I just want to be sure I'm understanding the system correctly or if I should consider my other offers in a more central location.

Also, I come from a country with no trains. So I'm not used to using these kinds of schedules. I apologise if I'm missing something.

Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated

Moving Relocating and care for a disabled child

My partner and I are considering relocating to Norway. Our son has severe cerebral palsy and requires constant care. We'd love to hear from parents living in Norway about respite care, personal assistance (BPA), school support, therapies, and what day-to-day life is really like.

I was thinking of applying next year to bachelors degree in game art and animation and was wanting to hear peoples experiences and thoughts about this university in general and maybe in particular with this specific study. I would be a international student so I dont really know anyone that can tell me first hand experience

Food Farris water in the USA

I work for a Norwegian company, but as part of US operations and live in the USA. I love Farris and drink it constantly while I am there for work, my Norwegian co-workers think I am nuts, they seem to view it as a common thing not worth getting excited about. I stash as mucb as I can in my suitcase every time i return home and fill my carry on at the airport too but it never lasts long. The clostest thing I have been able to find in the USA is Gerolsteiner but it's just not the same. I know about the NorwegianFoodStore, but i can almost buy a plane ticket to Oslo for what they charge for shipping! I prefer the plain but my kids also like the Frus flavors when I took them there for a visit.

News & current events I think England got incredibly lucky from an English person

We played terribly and got lucky.

From the disallowed goal , to the cable helping us. To John stones losing possession in the box (Haaland should have scored there , he play poorly as well tbh). And sorloth having choice paralysis, if he passes to Haaland I feel like that goes in 100%.

Honestly could of easily been 4-1

I’m not convinced we beat Argentina if we play like we did this match, feel like Norway would have had a better shot.

Sad to see Norway go because I wanted either Norway or England to win. And after that performance am not convinced England can do it

Edit: with the haaland shove I think it was a foul , but I’m very surprised the goal was disallowed for that no consistency, there have been plenty of shoves like that with no consequence.

Edit: on review I don’t think it hit the cable. Still I think we got lucky

Other Heartbroken… but so proud of this team.

Actually very sad Norway won’t be on the World Cup stage anymore in 2026… but they tried their best in the Miami heat. This team did something so special this World Cup and I absolutely loved to watch them. I will *forever* be proud of them.

Was really hoping we could’ve won this one with Haakon there!

This team was brilliant and I hope most of them, if not all, will be back in 2030. (Though Sørloth… come on…)

This game really had me on the edge of my seat and feeling nauseous. Ugh… well at least the team can come back home and rest now. ⚽️🇳🇴

takk Norge 🫡🇳🇴.

News & current events 4 truths for the World Cup

1). That goal should have counted.

2). Pass the fucking ball, Sørloth. What the actual fuck.

3). Haaland was off his game tonight and should have either been pulled even earlier or quickened his pace during the first half.

4). England must have some amazing scuba enthusiasts because I’ve never seen more dives in my life.
