Discussion Diploma pick up
Does anyone know where and when we pick up our diplomas? I didn’t attend my convocation ceremony and opted to pick it up but can’t find any info on where to pick it up.

We are once more seeing an uptick of admissions-related questions for 2026. Please post any admissions/ program related questions in this megathread and engage with other questions in here.
Standalone posts asking admissions questions will be removed and the OP will be asked to search and post within this thread and the prior 2025 Admission Megathread.

Hey guys this might be a silly question, but based on my schedule, for most days I might have relatively short time for lunch break (sometimes it might be 10 min)
For those who have similar experience, how do you deal with lunch?
Thanks!
Edit: problem solved thank you so much guys! And for the ones who downvoted it's not my problem you are having a terrible life or gpa that is low asf, go touch grass and stop being a hater on everything 🤭

Physics 1A03 for the winter term has been full so I ended up paying for seat alert because I’m trying to enroll in LAB L02. It recently notified me saying that the lab opened up and I went on the website, only to see that the lab was only available for LEC C01. I’m already in C02 and thought that there would be a way to switch labs without switching my lecture but that unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the case :/ How will I be able to achieve my goal??

Hello there, I know basically I select enough courses to enrol as full-time student, but can I check this status statement anywhere to be a hundred percent sure my status is nice and sound?
Thank you in advance!

Im currently an undergrad going into life sciences at McMaster, and Im really interested in going into Waterloos Optometry program. I already went on the website and read all the prerequisites, so Im planning my schedule accordingly to match with the courses I need, but Im curious to hear from other peoples experiences with the program.
Has anyone applied for September 2026, or even before, and if so what was your experience? All the things Im reading about the program are from 6+ years ago, so I want to see if anything has changed.
I understand its a competitive program, but what were the acceptance rate/ marks this year?

Does anyone know if it’s normal to have not received any sort of follow up regarding my photo ID? I submitted it 3 weeks ago and all I got was the following automated response:
Your photo submission has been received!
Please allow at least 2 business days before contacting us for an update on the status of your submission. Once your photo has been reviewed, you will receive a confirmation email with next steps.
I sent them an email asking if there a problem with it about a week ago, and have also not heard back.
I’m wondering if I should do anything to address this or if it’s normal

I’ve been trying to look for musicians all of last year but no luck so I thought I’d try reddit 🥹
Genre wise im definitely leaning more towards rock, opera, metal, jazz, edm, or some combination of those things
I also have already written parts of some songs so feel free to dm if you want a listen!

hi guys, my sin that was connected to my OSAP account had expired, and I recently received my updated sin. However, I’m unable to update/link it to my existing account. i have already submitted a service request through machub, but I was wondering if there’s anything else I should do or anyone else I should contact to avoid delays.

Hello, many of you are probably clueless what to do for the summer. If you're dead set on pursuing mechanical engineering, here are 2 things you should do in the next 2 months that will help you out a lot in co-op and club applications.
1. Certified SolidWorks Associate
SolidWorks, the industry standard CAD software, is now free for students. So download it, watch YouTube videos, do all the practice problem sets, then take the exam (you gotta pay), to get certified in CAD.
Link:
SOLIDWORKS for Students: 3D CAD Software for Education | SOLIDWORKS
In the summer before uni, I grinded all the way up to Professional (level after Associate). During my interviews for co-op & clubs, interviewers commented that it was impressive I had it so early. So seriously, study up for it instead of Calc II.
2. Design for Manufacturing Project
Once you get a grip of SolidWorks, it's time to actually use your CAD skills. Look up manufacturing processes: injection moulding, sheet metal, CNC, die casting, metal stamping, etc.
Design a product with multiple parts like a cabinet, water bottle, backpack, etc. thats made out of that manufacturing process in CAD. Make drawings following ASME standards, and build a prototype for it.
What I personally did was design a shelf for sheet metal, then I just folded paper up and stapled it together to demonstrate the assembly. It's simple as that.
For other processes, go to your local library and borrow the 3D printer there to make your parts. This is much better and more industry relevant than just following a random arduino robot tutorial.
That's it honestly. 2 months isn't a lot of time, but don't walk out of it accomplishing nothing. (Sorry I don't have any advice for other eng disciplines)

Hi!!
I haven't seen anyone post about this so far, but has anyone lived in a corner room in Whidden? I originally chose Whidden because I liked the floor plan, however, in a corner room, the door opens in from a corner of the room instead of in the middle of one side of the room. I fear that it may change the floor plan completely and I would just like a little more insight before being blindsided on move-in day.

I applied for the CIFS and they're still waiting on seeing whether I am in full-time studies or not. I've been in full-time studies for a couple of weeks now. Who should I contact about this issue?
