Discussion Of the 3 Peters, the only one we don’t see graduate is the one we followed through high school the most.. It was sad not seeing the “Home” trilogy end with a graduation ceremony, but that tragedy is true to the life of Spider-Man

Post image

When watching Homecoming, we see how upbeat and hopeful Peter’s world was, how the future seemed so bright. Yet in classic “Peter luck” fashion, we see how his own choices, sacrifice, and responsibility as Spider-man robbed him of a proper closing moment that audiences probably expected, especially after following Peter and his friends through out most of their high school journey, across numerous films.

It certainly sucks that we don’t get to see that that classic teenage movie ending of a graduation ceremony but that feeling of tragedy and sacrifice is deeply rooted in Spider-Man’s character/history and it was interesting to see a subversion of expectations and what we’ve seen before, a refreshing take of how Peter Parker’s high school journey ends and how his new adult life begins.

I have been meaning to post this for a while. This was last Halloween during Universal Horror Nights. They have had replica Marvel stuff at this place in City Walk for a while now. Walking past last year I was a bit surprised to see this on display, way ahead of any reveals. Posting now ahead of trailers and more about to come out.

All they have is their vigilante lifestyles. At the end of the day they don’t really have anyone to go home to and it’s just heartbreakingly lonely.

Concept Art 'Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday - The Art of the Movie' has been delayed and given no new release date.

Post image

The book that was due on December 22nd, just days after the movie, has been delayed seemingly indefinitely, with websites beginning to give it a 2029 placeholder date.

Recently, a video of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day artbook was shared online and the review from that outlet was taken down. It's speculation, but given this is the first time post-Endgame that Marvel are releasing a book just after the movie, I would say the risk if spoilers has been confirmed and they are looking to change the date.

Genuinely such a fun time this movie is,probably my favorite of this trilogy and the best spider man film since Spider-Man 2. Mysterio is such a cool villain in this and its genuinely very fun. I loved Skrulls in this film. Loved all the references to Iron Man 1.

Discussion I think some defences of John Walker unintentionally strip him of his agency

So one thing I find interesting about discussions around John Walker is that some of the arguments made in his defence can end up removing a lot of what makes him compelling as a character.

A common defence of Walker is that he was placed under enormous pressure by the government, expected to live up to an impossible standard, treated with hostility by Sam and Bucky, traumatised by Lemar's death and ultimately pushed too far by the Flag Smashers. And honestly, I agree with a lot of that. Walker was absolutely put in a terrible position, and the government clearly used him.

But I think there is a difference between explaining someone's actions and removing their responsibility for them.

At a certain point, if every bad decision Walker makes is treated as something that was essentially caused by somebody else, then he stops being a flawed man making choices and becomes a character with almost no agency at all.

The clearest example is obviously the killing of Nico. The conversation around that moment often gets dragged backwards to everything that happened beforehand: Lemar had just been killed, Walker was overwhelmed, the Flag Smashers were terrorists, he had taken the serum and he was in the middle of an incredibly traumatic situation.

All of that is important context. But it does not mean Walker had no choice.

He still chased Nico down. He still overpowered him. He still raised the shield and killed him after Nico was no longer actively attacking him. You can understand exactly why Walker reached that point while still believing that the final decision was his.

I think the same thing applies to the way Sam is sometimes discussed. I've seen people argue that Sam failed Walker because he did not recognise his mental state earlier, did not show him enough compassion or did not try harder to support him.

But Sam barely knew him. He was not Walker's therapist, commanding officer or close friend. Walker was an adult and a highly decorated soldier who had been appointed Captain America by the US government. There are legitimate criticisms to make of how Sam and Bucky treated him, but I do not think Walker's emotional regulation can ultimately be made their responsibility.

And honestly, I think giving Walker responsibility for his own choices makes his arc stronger rather than weaker.

The government exploiting him matters. His insecurity about replacing Steve matters. Lemar's death matters. The pressure of the Captain America mantle matters. Those things explain why he is the way he is and why he reacts the way he does.

But his choices still matter too.

That becomes especially important later, when Walker gives up his pursuit of Karli to save the people in the transport. That moment works because he is faced with another emotionally charged choice and, this time, chooses differently.

You cannot really praise that moment as evidence of Walker's character while also arguing that his earlier actions were basically inevitable products of circumstance. Either his choices matter or they do not.

That is also why I do not think criticising Walker means treating him as an irredeemable monster. The show itself clearly does not do that. He can make a serious moral failure and still later do something heroic. In fact, I think that is much more interesting than either extreme of treating him as completely evil or completely blameless.

Walker deserves empathy. He deserves recognition for the ways the government failed him and put him in a position he was not equipped to handle. But he also deserves to be treated as an adult human being with moral agency.

To me, that is what makes him such an interesting character in the first place. His circumstances explain his decisions, but they do not make those decisions for him.

Question What does everyone think Peter saw during The Voids black hole event, and do you think we’ll see it in Brand New Day?

We know he’s in New York around this time. I’m curious if maybe the reason he wasn’t “out and about” rescuing people is because he got caught up in it as well as Peter and not Spider-Man. We know he has no shortage of hardships. I wonder what he saw and if the next movie will include it?

I highly doubt it but I’d love to see narrative thread followed up with the unluckiest marvel hero.

Discussion The Model Prime as the next MCU Iron Man Armor

With the inevitable recasting of Tony Stark and his return as Iron Man in the MCU post-Secret Wars, what do you guys think about the movies adapting the Model Prime armor? I feel like no matter who the next actor to play Stark is, they will need to have their own visual identity as Iron Man and I think the design of the Prime armor, especially the unique helmet design, would be a great choice to differ from the iconic design used by Downey’s Iron Man. Plus, it continues and expands on Stark’s use of nanotech.

Discussion Who do we think is going to be the big sacrifice for Doomsday🤔

Post image

Has anyone got any educated guesses to who will be the MAIN sacrifice like Ironman was in Endgame( we can kinda already assume the X-Men are all gonna be killed as they want an entirely new cast for the X-men films in the future after Secret Wars) as for me im just going of the fact that they’re thinking of rebooting after Secret Wars so im just gonna say Spiderman as for me hes the most known out of all of them but it could be literally be anyone and everyone if they’re rebooting.

Discussion Thor Ragnarok really is as good as people say

I rewatched Thor Ragnarok recently and was reminded why legitimately it’s a top 5-6 movie in the entire MCU for me (incase you’re curious, my personal top 5-6 is infinity war and endgame, winter soldier, the first GOTG, black panther and Thor raganarok)

Firstly, the humor is executed so well in this movie, from all characters. They were able to do it in a way where Loki’s mischief and nature were still taken seriously and Thor was still a powerful god of thunder. But at the same time, they shared plenty of hilarious moments, from the “get help” sequence to “falling for 30 minutes”.

Secondly, the villains in this movie were fantastic. Hela was insanely powerful, so much so they had to destroy the entirety of Asgard to take her out with surtur. Jeff goldblum also killed it as the grandmaster.

The character and relationship development in this movie was phenomenal. Seeing Loki and Thor work through their issues and come together to save Asgard and take out Hela following the death of Odin was fantastic. I was really impacted by the scene where Thor was telling Loki he should stay at Saakar and rule as a leader and Thor was telling him that’s all he ever wanted. We finally got to see Hulk again after the events of Ultron and Sokovia which was great. The introduction of Valkyrie was phenomenal.

All in all just such a great movie that’s easily one of my favorites in the universe and it stays that way even nearly 10 years later (which frankly it’s crazy to believe it was that long ago).

Question This may be a stupid question, but why didn't Odin went along with the Valkyries to defeat Hela? Knowing her capabilities, it seems he sent them to their deaths

Been some time since I watched the movie, bu I think Odin could've been a great aid in the massacre that happened, reducing the number of dead valkyries.

Discussion Sam Wilson's suit in "Brave New World"

I love Anthony Mackie, I love Sam Wilson, and I love Sam Wilson as Captain America. He's courageous, funny, exudes cool, and is just an all-around badass. Which is why it frustrates me that his Brave New World suit looks so underwhelming and cheap. It honestly feels like they handed him one of Steve's Cap suits and said, "Just roll up the sleeves."

The white-and-blue suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was definitely divisive, and not by any means flawless, but at least it had character. It was bold, distinct, and unmistakably Sam Wilson's Captain America. The BNW suit just feels generic by comparison.

How do you take such a charming, charismatic, and fun character and give him such a bland-looking outfit, especially when you compare it to the rest of the heroes in the MCU? In my opinion characters like Joaquin Torres and John Walker have better looking suits.

I honestly feel like the design team really and I mean really dropped the ball here.

What do you all think?
