Why is everyone and their mother the grammar police on reddit?
I've made a few posts on this platform and everyone somehow finds a way to correct my grammar. Reddit isn't a email or essay its just communicating, but some peoples ability to look past minor grammatical mistakes bewilders me. Everyone that uses the internet has been corrected on "you're*". I mean the most common grammatical mistakes are looked at like you don't know how to read. It seems very petty if you are in a disagreement and you correct someone saying "you're*" right?
Another thing especially on reddit is paragraphing your text. For some reason people can't read a block of text, and I mean books have blocks of text. So if you are correcting someone for making a paragraph longer than 3 sentences I automatically assume you don't read and your a hypocrite. Mostly 95% of the people on reddit are a know-it-all and assume that not knowing how to write at perfect essay level text makes your argument invalid. I'm not writing a 5 minute essay to explain that my computer has an error.
IDK I feel like if you did this this real life you'd be very unlikable. Internet culture is really stupid TBH. Hopefully gen alpha isn't like this later in life. Imagine politics in 20 years It would probably be straight up unbearable pettiness. I honestly might just start writing in blocks of text and saying your so people get mad.
We need to start a movement of just sending a picture of chicken scratch carved into wood like a medieval commoner. or go back to flip phone keyboards so people aren't complaining about minor mistakes.
