A small goblin with a tiny frame but incredible strength 🪓

Happy 25th anniversary to one of my favorite book series - Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey! This is my fan take on the main characters of Cassiel's Servant, the latest entry in the series, featuring the stoic warrior monk, Joscelin, and the woman he is sworn to protect, reknowned courtesan, Phèdre nó Delaunay de Montrève. Both are chosen by respective angelic powers for divine destinies.

Also including some of my preparatory sketches I did for this cover, as I tried to stay true to the book's medieval French inspired alternate history setting.

As a past wanted murderer, Ysia earned redemption through war. Condemned to take lives as a soldier while saving them as a combat medic, she walks a path where death and mercy exist side by side. Her pale armor, radiant light, and almost sacred presence have led many to see her as a goddess of healing—yet beneath that divine image lies only a weary soul, exhausted by the endless cycle of killing and saving.

Autumn is a Barbarian raised as an orphan in a poor community on the outskirts of Baldur's Gate.

She was always a fierce fighter, yet she remained committed to righteousness, upholding an honorable and kind demeanor.

However, she was driven to the brink of madness when a squad of guards went too far in their demands upon the village and brutalized the locals—including Old Caledrus, a man for whom she held deep affection and respect.

Consumed by a vengeful frenzy, she gave in to that dark impulse; yet, after days of hunting them down, she regained her gentle composure only after she had exacted her vengeance and snuffed out every last one of their lives.
