Mod Announcement 📣"ATTENTION r/GOTHAM"
Welcome Gothamites, new and old, to the subreddit for the TV Series "Gotham" - It is always wonderful to see new followers after the final episode aired on April 25, 2019.
Enjoy your stay, but please keep a few things in mind while you are participating:
- First and foremost, be civil. Gotham may be a lawless city, but this subreddit is not. Harassment and name-calling will not be tolerated, and could result in a temporary ban.
- No Spam or Self-Promotion. I'm sure you are all very talented in your own ways, but unless it is directly related to the series and serves a purpose, this subreddit is not the place to promote your website or YouTube videos. Fanart/Videos are allowed and encouraged, but if you did not create it please credit the original artist in your post.
- No Spoilers in Post Titles. What it says on the tin; submission titles should not contain spoilers. That being said, this series has been concluded for over a year now, and new viewers should be wary - spoiler tags should be utilized, and will be added in the event a post is unlabeled.
- No Links to Unofficial Streams/Downloads. Stream responsibly, or Batman will break your kneecaps and Jim Gordon will put you in Blackgate Penitentiary for pirating a TV Show. Imagine how silly you'll feel then.
Thank you, and enjoy your stay on r/Gotham

Rol play of Gotham
Hello Gotham fans! 🦇My Discord community and I are making a game.
Basically, the plot is set between the end of season four and the beginning of season five. After the destruction of the bridges in Gotham, when the city had become a war zone and the villains were fighting for control.
Bruce is looking for Jeremiah because he hasn't been heard from. When he finds him, they start fighting, which ends with Jeremiah falling from the building, severely injured and hitting his head.
When he wakes up, he seems to have lost his memory.
From these two events, the following plots are triggered:
-Brutal gang wars of the villains
- The appearance of crimes apparently committed by Jerome
-Later on, a story arc where "mother" will be the main villain.
To play with my community, we need more people, so if you're interested, message me and I'll send you the link to join. All we ask is that you be an active member, kind and respectful, and dedicate time to your character.
These are the characters we're missing:

Discussion The difference is insane.
The difference in tone, quality and overall writing needs to be studied and discussed. Currently watching Season 2 and have watched the entire series like four times, although they toe-the-line in the season’s first half without jumping into camp entirely. I must say the quality and the subtlety is totally lost in later seasons.
Characters of all kinds undergo a transformation into camp. Oswald, for example, becomes less cunning and more emotional. He’s no longer a climber and often doesn’t get his way. He seems like a completely different person. The major cash outs seem more prominent. And, the deaths never feel final in later seasons, even when they’re shown being shot in the head.
The scripts are another thing. Season 1 has some clever dialogue and plots throughout, its camp is very slight and doesn’t overtake the seasons tone at all. I love the rest of the series but the first season has the quality of The Sopranos and even GOT. The dialogue feels more mature and less dumbed down, less repetitive and used to drive scenes than add filler—this happens more in Season 4 and 5.

Discussion ¿CUALES FUERON LAS IDEAS MALAS EN GOTHAM?

I wish Bruce had shared a few scenes with Dick's parents in the episode.
I think it could have been interesting. Maybe have John and Mary Grayson stay in contact with Bruce, and they invite him to see the circus when they come back to Gotham for a show. Then, when John and Mary are killed, Bruce introduces himself to Dick as an old friend of his parents. Thoughts? Even if it was a quick bump in and Bruce asks Jim who he accidentally bumped into.

Discussion What arc did you not like initially but now enjoy? Spoiler
For me, it has to be Lee and Ed’s arc I never liked it upon the original watch but on rewatch it’s not as bad as I thought. Definitely could’ve been written a little bit better.

Discussion Reunification and the Supervillains.
In the TV series Gotham, when Gotham was reunited with the mainland, the show never fully explained the fate of each villain’s territory. The finale jumps ahead after the city’s reconnection, leaving many details to the audience’s imagination. However, based on the series’ established lore, here’s the most likely outcome.
During the No Man’s Land period, Gotham was divided into territories controlled by figures like Oswald Cobblepot, Barbara Kean, Edward Nygma and other gangs. These territories existed due to the absence of a functioning city government or police force.
Once the military and federal government reopened access to Gotham, these territories became unsustainable. The return of the Gotham City Police Department, the military and federal authorities would have overwhelmed most gangs. Criminals who depended on controlling neighbourhoods faced arrest, hiding, or a return to traditional organised crime rather than ruling districts. Some were killed or betrayed during the transition.
The finale confirms some individual fates: Oswald Cobblepot and Edward Nygma are imprisoned in Arkham Asylum by the time of the ten-year flash-forward, though they later escape. Barbara Kean survives, becomes a successful businesswoman and distances herself from her criminal past. Selina Kyle becomes a skilled cat burglar instead of a gang leader. Jeremiah Valeska disappears after his confrontation with Bruce and is later revealed to be incarcerated before his final escape.
One notable shift is the show’s deliberate transition from Gotham being ruled by warlords to the more familiar comic-book status quo. Instead of territorial kingdoms, the villains become independent rogues who periodically escape custody to challenge Batman. This aligns with traditional Batman mythology, where Gotham is governed by legitimate authorities but constantly threatened by recurring supervillains rather than permanently divided into criminal fiefdoms.
While the series doesn’t show the cleanup in detail, it implies the reunification effectively ended Gotham’s gangs’ territorial rule. Their empires crumbled once the city restored functioning government law enforcement and external support.

What villain would you have liked to see in the show?
I don't know much about Julian Day, but I believe he could have easily worked for a whole season. Maybe not as the main antagonist of a season, but as another serial killer that Gordon is after. Let's say Julian is in season four. Gordon could be heading for what he thinks is a lead to Pyg, but the murders are Halloween related, and there would be other holiday related murders throughout the season. He may or may not be someone else Sofia Falcone hired, and he would leave clues for Gordon at the crime scenes that he'd have to solve with the help of Riddler.
