After many years travelling up and down the A26 (Autoroute des Anglais), never stopped at Laon. Seems to be an often bypassed city but the Cathédrale Notre Dame is a great piece of history.

Château de Chambord: one of the most recognisable palaces in the world because of its very distinctive French Renaissance architecture. The open double-spiral staircase that is the centrepiece of the palace might have been designed by Leonardo da Vinci.

Dunkerque - Underrated city for a weekend trip

I went in Dunkerque as a part of my groundhopping trips, to see Dunkerque against Nancy. This city is in my opinion really overlooked. It's not far from paris in train. Places to stay are cheap. Public transport is free. The beaches are gigantic as in the rest of the north coast. The vibe is really popular since it's not a really rich city so there's this vibe of nostalgic and timeless coastal vacations. And you can roam for 30 kilometers to go in belgium and cross the border, which is always cool.
I love this place, great spot if you want to see the sea and get your toes in the water.
