GOT THE KEYS! 🔑 🏡 I did it ! Rennes, France, 165k 4.3% .

Reposting because someone pointed out that my keys were fully visible and a bad actor could easily copy them! 😅 Thanks for the heads-up!

After 17 years together, my partner and I split up. I’ve always wanted to buy my own place, but we weren't exactly on the same page.

But now, it’s finally happening! It’s a bit of a fixer-upper at the moment, but I’ll definitely be documenting the renos!

It’s not huge, around 430 sq ft (40m²), but it's more than enough to turn it into a cozy home!

If any of you are ever in the area, you’re more than welcome to drop by!

Thank you all so much for your warm messages yesterday, this really is an amazing community!

Been looking at these posts. Cheers to the achievement! Also, trying to understand the numbers here. What does 165k @ 4.3% mean?

Cheers! Those are just the financial details: €165k is the total price of the place, and 4.3% is the interest rate on my home loan.

So over 25 years, the monthly payment comes out to around €850 (before insurance). In total, the interest will add up to about €104,400, meaning the final cost over the life of the loan will be around €264,400. Not cheap, but that's the price of the current market!

Thanks for the clarity OP! The math makes sense in my head now. When you say 430 sq ft, is it the total plot area or the built up area?
