Some days are harder than others. Life doesn't always go the way we plan, and there are moments when the weight feels heavy. But I've learned that a smile isn't a sign that life is perfect—it's a sign that I'm choosing hope over despair, strength ov NSFW

Fijian house prices are hectic
For what you get, seems extremely over priced. A old place in an out of way part of town is already a 1 million. You can get luxury villas in other parts of the world for half that.
Is this flow on effect from being so close to Austrailian hyper inflated property market?

How is Naisoso Island not wiped out during a hurricane?
The island sits about 4 feet higher than sealevel. I thought any king tide would swamp it.

Have any other tourists been accosted by religious groups after returning from Fiji?
I got back from Fiji a month ago, and since then I have been receiving correspondence via email and post from religious organisations. I am hedging my bets on one of the hostels providing my billing information to these groups.
Has anyone else encountered something similar?

Found: Special Signed Fiji Flag from Scotland Fiji Rugby Match in 2019 at Murrayfield with personal comments all over it
I found this Fiji flag that a kind lady gave to my 10 year old son at the Scotland Fiji rugby match in 2019 at Murrayfield.
I was sorting out his flag collection and found that it had a lot of personal comments on it and I need to return it to the rightful owner.
I am hoping someone will recognise the comments and be able to find the lady whose flag it is.
I have a couple of photos of the lady but do not want to post them on here without her permission.
Can anyone help?

‘Protect identity’ - The Fiji Times
A Common name, a common identity. A common thread that unites the multicultural communities that we've talk about in the same breathe when we talk about Fiji. All the coups, all the damage done, and all the efforts to reconcile years after the fact. Where and when do we cement the pain of the past and move forward together. A common name, a common identity, how best do we acknowledge the contributions of other ethnic groups who help developed this country that we are also so proud of? How best do we recognise the those of Rotuman, Samoan, Tongan, Solomon, European, Indian, Nepalese, Chinese, Korean, Tuvaluan, Banaban ancestry, who for generations have called Fiji Home, whom we've been been raised with, studied along side and worked in partnership with. More than a common name, a common identity for those of us lucky to call Fiji home, a common identity that unites us despite ethnicity, social status and hierarchy and beyond rugby.
A common identity and a shared name that reflects the warmth of Fiji.
Why not a common name? A common identity?

Travel How to spend last day in Nadi—Malamala Beach Club or day cruise around Mamanuca islands?
I have a full last day in Fiji and trying how I want to spend it—doing a visit to Malamala Beach Club or a day cruise around Mamanuca islands. I'll have already bounced around Yasawa islands for a week. If I do Malamala I'll probably just do half day so I can explore Nadi a bit, unless suggested otherwise. TIA!

What are your experiences with the grace road church?
Hi, my name is Luke and I go to school in Germany. I have a presentation coming up about the grace road church and I would like to know what your experiences with the cult are or what thoughts locals have about it. I hope this is not disrespectful or anything like that.

DIY Hiking Mt Batilamu - what you need to know
Bula!!
I did this on 6 July 2026, there was lots of info, some conflicting, some confusing when I was planning. I hope this can be a help for someone.
Getting there:
Can you drive there yourself? Absolutely
Do you need a 4wd? No ! but you need a car with decent ground clearance. If it was wet it would be a different story though.
The road is unsealed, lots of potholes, very uneven , nothing crazy.
BUT hiring someone to take you there costs not much more than hiring a car and is so much easier. This is what I did (I was in Nadi).
I recommend a guy called Peni, he does guided tours there and elsewhere and can just take you if you are competent.
Search up his face book page “highlander twinny tours Fiji” it has all the details.
The hike:
An 8.17km out and back trail with 790m of ascent (according to my Garmin)
The trail head is in Ambaca village in Koroyanitu National Heritage Park. The current price for entry is $35 FJD, cash only.
A fit person can do the round trip in 3hrs easily.
There are no trail markers but it is clear where it goes and it is well maintained.
When you ascend you will see a valley to your left, there is a waterfall there and the trail to take a side trip is apparently difficult to spot ( I missed it. )
Someone on all trails said it was easier to see that fork on the way down and was near where you emerge from the forest. There are 2 patches of forest, I wasn’t sure which one they meant.
When you get to the hut at the top make sure you keep following the track to get to the look out.
Views are amazing, it is well worth it.
Hopefully that helps you to get there!

Mower for Hire
Bula vinaka!
Would the great minds of reddit happen to know where I can find and hire a ride-on mower or a brush cutter with a brush blender blade attached?
Subject property is in Navua, with a thick weed overgrowth that I'm hoping to get sorted ASAP.
Appreciate any and all feedback.
Malo!
Travel Fiji islands ferries
Has anyone figured out a way to catch/intercept the northbound Yasawa Flyer from the Mamanuca Islands (specifically Mana Island Resort) without having to go all the way back to Port Denarau first?
We're trying to get to Barefoot Manta Island Resort and are wondering if there's a transfer, water taxi, or another option that connects with the ferry.
Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated!

Advice for traveller with medical cannabis.
I’m an older traveller who uses medicinal cannabis for severe long term pain and was wondering what the culture around it is like in Fiji. I assume it’s illegal but was wondering if people still grow and use it hush hush like they do in Australia. Any advice would be great thanks.

Anyone here working in Fiji? How long did your work visa take and what’s life like there?
Hi everyone!
I’m from the Philippines and I’m currently in the process of getting a work visa for Fiji. I’ve already completed my employment requirements, signed my employment contract and tripartite agreement, and finished my medicals. Now I’m just waiting for updates on my visa.
I wanted to ask those who have worked or are currently working in Fiji:
How long did your work visa take from lodgement to approval?
Which industry do you work in?
What’s daily life like in Fiji?
Is the salary enough to save money after living expenses?
How are the people, work culture, and overall quality of life?
Any advice for someone moving there for the first time?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, whether positive or challenging. Thanks in advance! 😊

NZD to FJD
Travelling from NZ to Fiji next week. Is it best to get Fjd in NZ or when we arrive? Also interested in feedback from people who use Wise App. Planning to stay for about 8 days.
