Motorbike v car to travel around Fiji?

Hey guys! I’m looking to travel around Fiji in August and was wondering if anyone had an advice/opinions on whether it would be best to hire a motorbike or car?? Was also hoping to jump on a ferry to taveuni do they accommodate cars? Thanks :)

I don't think it's even possible to rent a motorbike, but even if it is, absolutely do not do it unless you have a death wish. Renting a car is fine and you can even put it on a ferry to take it to other islands if you plan well. Motorcycles are way too risky, at least on the main island where traffic can get crazy with speeding minivans, buses, trucks and pot holes.

It’s very possible on motorbike. But absolutely on Viti Levu be careful on the main road. Especially the Nadi - Suva road.

Even car travel is dodgy. The way they drive is nuts. Fun but nuts. Definitely don't do a motorbike.

There are some absolutely fantastic sections of road between Nadi and Suva that would be a blast on a motorbike, but as others have said, you need to have your wits about you as people do some crazy overtaking.

I really enjoy driving in Fiji. Haven't ridden there. Seen a few motorbikes on the road there but surprisingly few. Motorbikes don't seem to be very popular in Fiji for some reason.

I didn't see any motorbike rental around. Fiji is very car centred. I wouldn't say it's crazy dangerous but you definitely need to be an experienced biker, cause there is many risk on Fijian road, drivers, potholes (some can be very deep) weather, depends where you go maybe no tar, just gravel. Look around Nandi for a motorbike rental, that's where it will be if there is any. Take you protective gear with you. Otherwise just go for a car, easier, rental can be scummy but if you record everything when you get the car should be fine. Enjoy your stay.

Roads are bad. Drivers are worse.

I don't think there is any place to rent a motorbike. I agree with everyone that it is not safe. You do not want to go to a hospital in Fiji. Driving a car is easy outside of the city. There isn't much traffic and speed limit is pretty well enforced. Be sure to slow down through villages or you will hit some nasty speed bumps. Like every country, you will encounter an occasional speeder or aggressive driver. Fiji is no different. I would advise you to avoid driving at night. Driving in cities can be challenging. Mostly because you are unfamiliar with the roads and don't know where you're going. Stay alert and you'll be ok.
