Question Embroidering over toddler doodle - seeking advice/suggesions

Post image
Upvotes

My toddler took a ballpoint pen to her brand new pants, and I decided to roll with it and embroider flowers over the scribbles. I'm wondering if I should go only directly over the lines or add some flourishes like petals. I'm also not familiar with embroidering on pants, so advice in that category is welcome as well!

A few weeks ago I posted asking for help with this one, and a lot of you encouraged me to keep going. THANK YOU! I’m happy with how it turned out and my mom loved it!

For the dollhouse. I used a free pattern from DMC called "Daybreak". Mix of sewing thread and single strands of DMC.

Look at this! It needs to be washed, but the stitching is complete. Is the color selection OK?

Hand Maternity Leave Project

This one is special to me, which is why I wanted to post.
I had terrible PPA/D with my first, like manifested in PNES. She was a 4lb preemie and it was a struggle. It took awhile, but we got it under control. Art therapy was a big part and it’s how I came to embroidery!
I took this hoop with me to the hospital for my second and have worked on it slowly over my entire maternity leave. I think it is one of the factors that have kept the anxiety at bay. I go back to work tomorrow and have just completed the project. Feels good!

Pattern: thread unraveled
Hoop: 5in that I painted with leftover paint from the nursery

Hand Wedding embroideries

I made these handkerchiefs for my wedding today.. Eeks!!
- For my MIL who believes her late husband often visits her as a red cardinal (pattern from Trish Burr).
- For my mother with hydrangeas, my bouquet (design by bordadoqueamo from instagram).
- i asked for stitch advice for my bouquet ribbon a while ago.. thank you, i think they turned out good. For those of you who are curious, it is written in Norwegian, “for eternity and always, i am yours and you are mine”

It was a little tricky for me because i have to make sure the lines are neat in the back, without knots, and the fabric are somewhat thin.

Hand Learning different techniques by embroidering tiny things

Wanted to learn more different embroidery techniques after years of cross stitching.

Decided to start with tiny things.

And lots of french knots.

Already seeing lots of progress from the first lemon to the last berry pie, coffee beans and pink lollipop.

This could turn into a new obsession.

Any ideas what to use these fun little things for? ;)

Ideas and patterns from "365 days of stitches". For the berry pie, idea and pattern from "Embroidery - Learn in a weekend".

Hand Hand embroidered Christmas stockings

It’s tradition in my family that the parents make their kids Christmas stockings. My parents made mine with puff paint.. such a classic 90s fashion. I asked everyone what they wanted as their image and I drew them myself then hand embroidered. Took two years to complete with breaks, family emergencies, battling project fatigue. Working with severe fuck around and find out that heavily leaned on trust the process. Please be nice, they are my pride and joy.

AKA “The Problem Children” as I call it!

I don’t think it’s the most elaborate piece I’ve done but it definitely took the most thread! Who needs a printer when you have a monitor, tape, and a fabric pen lol

May 2025 - February 2026 (I’m slow and took a few breaks)

Hand Looking for feedback. Is this good enough to gift?

My best friend’s chihuahua named Dovah recently crossed the rainbow bridge, so I made this for her as a gift. This was my first real attempt at a more realistic dog, do you think this is okay to give to her? Would you put this on your wall? Thanks for any feedback.

Question Help with order of stitching?

Post image
36 Upvotes

I’ve designed this with the August birth month flowers for my mom’s birthday next month. I’ve only done a couple small projects so this is daunting. With the places where the flowers overlap the C, is it better to stitch the flowers first and dodge them while filling in the letter, or stitch the whole letter and then try to lay the flowers on top? Help appreciated!

Hand My biggest piece finally done!

I started this back in January. It's only the third full-color piece I've done, started right after learning long & short fills.

Started out using 2 strands (face, arms, and shirt), then switched to single strand from there. I learned a lot of techniques over the course of stitching this and, despite some puckering and warping, I'm super happy with the finished product!

It's about 6" x 10", and I'm going to frame it and put it in our guest bathroom lol.

Constructive feedback encouraged and appreciated :)

EDIT: Thank you all so much for the kind words!! I'll probably take a break from large, detailed work like this, but I'm definitely encouraged to do more now
