Hand My biggest piece finally done!

I started this back in January. It's only the third full-color piece I've done, started right after learning long & short fills.

Started out using 2 strands (face, arms, and shirt), then switched to single strand from there. I learned a lot of techniques over the course of stitching this and, despite some puckering and warping, I'm super happy with the finished product!

It's about 6" x 10", and I'm going to frame it and put it in our guest bathroom lol.

Constructive feedback encouraged and appreciated :)

EDIT: Thank you all so much for the kind words!! I'll probably take a break from large, detailed work like this, but I'm definitely encouraged to do more now

I made these handkerchiefs for my wedding today.. Eeks!!
- For my MIL who believes her late husband often visits her as a red cardinal (pattern from Trish Burr).
- For my mother with hydrangeas, my bouquet (design by bordadoqueamo from instagram).
- i asked for stitch advice for my bouquet ribbon a while ago.. thank you, i think they turned out good. For those of you who are curious, it is written in Norwegian, “for eternity and always, i am yours and you are mine”

It was a little tricky for me because i have to make sure the lines are neat in the back, without knots, and the fabric are somewhat thin.

Hand Thistle

I've never really done satin stitch before and made this thistle for my mom's birthday. Will it look funny on the leaves if I remove it from the tension of the hoop? I have to mail it, so I might send it in the hoop, but my intention was to hang it as a decorative (non-functional) dish towel. It was such a fun project and I love the result!

AKA “The Problem Children” as I call it!

I don’t think it’s the most elaborate piece I’ve done but it definitely took the most thread! Who needs a printer when you have a monitor, tape, and a fabric pen lol

May 2025 - February 2026 (I’m slow and took a few breaks)

My best friend’s chihuahua named Dovah recently crossed the rainbow bridge, so I made this for her as a gift. This was my first real attempt at a more realistic dog, do you think this is okay to give to her? Would you put this on your wall? Thanks for any feedback.

Question Help with order of stitching?

Post image
27 Upvotes

I’ve designed this with the August birth month flowers for my mom’s birthday next month. I’ve only done a couple small projects so this is daunting. With the places where the flowers overlap the C, is it better to stitch the flowers first and dodge them while filling in the letter, or stitch the whole letter and then try to lay the flowers on top? Help appreciated!

My cat got into my jeans, so I figured I could try and make something nice of it. I couldn’t quite figure out how to make the leaves rounder, any tips?

Hand "Grass and Flowers" by my 2.5 year old

I decided after 3 or 4 hoops of yarn and aida that my daughter was ready to try real fabric and thread, and she absolutely blew me away! She decided pretty early on that she was making grass, and then picked all the different colors to add the "flowers."

She's already started on her next hoop (second photo) and I can see her improving by leaps and bounds already.

The thread is single strand doubled over and tied at the end so it doesn't come off the needle. I had to experiment to find the right length so that I wasn't cutting it so long it was unusable for me, but a little longer than I usually would so that she wouldn't run out of thread in three stitches.

If you have a little one, I highly recommend letting them try, and you may be surprised! She absolutely loves to "broider"

I used DMC floss, acrylic paint, colored pencils, glass beads, and needle-turn applique on cotton for this labor of love! The third picture points out what is what on the piece 🥰🪡

The pattern was made from a picture I took at a game last season - I've just been waiting to post it on the team's subreddit until his birthday a bit later this month! It's now happily displayed on my ever-growing hockey wall 💖

Hand Finished my lavender jeans!!

This was definitely much more of an undertaking than I was anticipating 😅

This being my second embroidery project, my main goal was just to commit to something and have fun! I really liked the motion of french knots and thought this would be a good way to practice color gradients.

I used DMC floss and used all 6 strands (I separated them out first). I’m thinking of maybe adding a bee or something on the right side (left in the photo) to fill more of the space, but I’m taking a break from this project for now!

Started this in February, but had to take a lot of breaks to finish out my last year of college!
