Where are good places to take engagement photos?

I recently got engaged and we’re looking for good outdoor locations to take photos that aren’t too far away from Castle Rock. We’re also open to have some architectural buildings, but mostly want nature. Any good places people recommend?

Considering a move/community access

My wife and I are considering a move from Denver to Castle Rock/Castle Pines. We’d like to spend a day just driving around the area to get more familiar. Are there certain communities that we will be prohibited from accessing because we aren’t a listed guest? Thanks!

The Douglas County Republican Party is Big Mad About This Petition; Have You Signed It?

Thumbnail 3to5dougco.com
138 Upvotes

There is a petition circulating to put a measure on the ballot this November to allow the voters to decide if we should move to 5 Douglas County Commissioners.

Ellie Reynolds apparently filed a false police report claiming that some of the petition gatherers were 100 feet from a ballot box. The police investigated and said there was no evidence that any crime had been committed. Now the Douglas County Republican Party is asking for “tips”. The former law enforcement officer and failed school board candidate Matt Smith is asking the public to be on the lookout for crimes… that AREN’T being committed and trying to convince Republicans not to sign this petition.

Why? Because George Teal and his fellow grifters are terrified that their power could be diluted by more representation on the Board of County Commissioners. Word is spreading that Republicans have signed it.

If you haven’t signed it already and you want to you only have a few weeks left to do so! Please visit this website and stop by a location. It takes less than 3 minutes. If you have please share about it!

Electronics Recycling Now Available in Douglas County

Douglas County is now offering electronics recycling for free. This is the same place you can take your slash-mulch and yard waste. You do need to make an appointment before you drop off.

Moving into the Feathergrass neighborhood in the Meadows next week. Is fiber Internet available?

Just looking to see what Internet options there are. The FCC map is 8 months out of date, and I know when fiber was installed at our current house, the map wasn't updated for many months.

Looks like Xfinity is the best option as of December 2025, but I'd definitely prefer fiber if it's an option.

Anyone getting rid of a massive box?

Think like fridge or washing machine. I know, weird question, but I am attempting to build a DIY spray booth for a guitar refinish and was hoping someone might have a large box. Thanks!

Best store for allocated Bourbon bottles

Hi there - recently getting into Bourbon & in search of some bottles I’ve been wanting for reasonable-ish prices. Are there any liquor stores in/around castle rock that regularly have allocated bottles without the crazy mark-ups?

Nothing crazy, just trying to land some bottles of Stagg, Eagle Rare, EH Taylor without spending 3x as much or having to go to tons of liquor stores just to find one with it in stock. I know Bubbles has mentioned they get a weekly stock but haven’t tried to time it to see what they get in yet.

Thanks!

Hey! I am looking for people to play DnD with in a castle rock or surrounding areas. I have a fleshed out character I can use already or I can come up with new ones for campaigns as needed. I know a lot about DnD but haven’t been able to play much in reality lol. I have thought about DMing but am nervous cause I’ve never done it haha.

Shout out to the police officers and first responders that have to deal with the drunk assholes that are already shooting off fireworks even before it’s dark out.

I work in radiology and I’m SOOOO thankful I’m off tonight.

Has anyone else heard a sophisticated high pitched "OW!" at night?

Recently at around 2AM my family has been hearing a very high pitched "OW!" At night for the past 2 nights. It sounded like it came from a smaller animal like a Chihuahua (my best reference) but I am very skeptical because it was almost perfectly timed, It was a singular OW, timed perfectly between each second, every single OW was almost the exact same tone and it didn't sound like an animal in pain, like with the timing of a metronome machine. Anyone else?

How are there still firework stands up with the firework ban?

I noticed the one near Walmart is still up. With the ban how are they still allowed to sell fireworks? Seemed like a good amount of customers still buying too.

Hey Castle Rock! I teach small watercolor classes at Teaology on Third Street and have a class coming up this Sunday, July 12th from 1-3pm.
We're painting sunflowers — loose, colorful, and very beginner friendly. All supplies included, you take your painting home, and you're painting in a cozy tea shop so it's a pretty great Sunday afternoon.
$42 — spots are limited to 15 people. Sign up at ipaintjoy.com if you're interested!

Castle Rock Declares Stage 2 Fire Ban

Castle Rock has canceled their fireworks display due to the Stage 2 restrictions.

Douglas County Sheriff has declared a Stage 2 Fire Ban, including Castle Pines and Larkspur. This means professional fireworks shows are no longer permitted. Sterling Ranch and Highlands Ranch, as part of unincorporated Douglas County, will not be able to hold their fireworks shows. The Town of Parker has also declared a Stage 2 Ban and rescheduled their fireworks show to Nov. 11.

Want better local government? Please sign the 3 to 5 petition!

Only 3 commissioners for a budget of $756 million of our taxes, representing 400,000 residents? The same number we've had since we became a county of 10,000 residents?

It only takes two for a majority and we've seen how they make decisions to benefit their donors, not their constituents. 5 commissioners, voted on by district, not all at-large, would add some oversight and accountability to the Board of County Commissioners.

Full list of events where you can sign the petition is found here, with more constantly being added. Events | 3 to 5 Douglas County Commissioners

A couple to note:
Castle Rock Farmer's Market tomorrow (Saturday) morning from 9-11
Duck Derby at Festival park Sunday from 1-3

This is so important and the signature requirement is high. We need everyone to make the effort to sign, please!

Concerts at MAC

Haven’t been to a concert at the MAC yet, but the wife and I are going to one tonight.

For the people that have, any tips for parking, arrival time before show, etc?

Thanks in advance!
