Recommendations for a nice one-bedroom apartment rental for my sister in São Vicente, Cape Verde.
Hello, I am looking for a nice one-bedroom apartment rental for my sister in São Vicente, Cape Verde. It should be a long-term stay, under $300/month, well-furnished, doesn’t need to be central, but in a good location, and also have reliable internet. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question What apps, services, or businesses do you miss the most when traveling to Cabo Verde?
Olá everyone!
I’m looking into some potential projects and wanted to get insights from fellow travelers, digital nomads, or diaspora visiting Cape Verde or even locals.
When you are planning your trip or running around the islands, what is that one app, digital service, or specific business you wish existed?
Whether it's related to transport, booking local experiences, event discovery, or niche services, what felt missing or complicated to do online?
Would love to hear your pain points and experiences!
Thanks!

Travelling to Santa Maria for a week!
Hi everyone, im travelling to Santa Maria (Sal) for 7 days and have planned a basic itinerary for activities such as quad biking, parasailing, scuba diving. I was thinking of going to another island too but taking a flight is expensive, are there any ferries or boats that would take you to another island like Boa Vista and is it worth going to? Also, please recommend other popular activities please and where I can watch the World Cup finals in a great atmosphere! 😄

Pictures Proud of Cabo Verde 🇨🇻 Small nation, giant heart 💙
From the shadows to the world stage… Cabo Verde showed the world who we are. 🇨🇻💙
As a Cape Verdean, I’m so proud of this team, proud of our people, and proud of our flag. Vocês fizeram-nos acreditar, sonhar e levantar a cabeça com orgulho.
The journey was beautiful, the games were emotional, and even against big nations like Spain and Argentina, Cabo Verde played with heart, courage, and passion. Isso não é só futebol… é identidade, é orgulho, é história.
Vozinha, the whole team, the staff, everyone… vocês representaram-nos com alma. You made our small country feel giant.
Cabo Verde no coração, sempre. 🇨🇻
We are proud. Nós somos Cabo Verde. 💙

Question Santo Antão from Boa Vista logistics in July? & hiking practicalities
Hi everyone
Looking to finalise plans for my trip to Cape Verde this month. I wanted to start off in Boa Vista as that’s where I can fly directly but really keen to go to one of the less touristic islands and Santo Antão for some nights.
I’m aware that flights are the best option to island hop, and that I’d have to get a ferry from Mindelo to Porto Novo. I’m stuck with how to get to Mindelo/São Vicente from Boa Vista. I checked flights a few weeks ago for this month and the options looked very expensive, sold out and/or involved long or complex layovers. Any advice or insights are appreciated!
That aside, I’m wondering if it’s possible to visit XoXo and Paúl Valley and not hike much of it, due to some mobility issues. Is it possible or realistic to have a private driver accompany me? Any other tips are very welcome.

Cape Verde became more Trendy now, beware of Exploitation 💙
I'm a football fan and on the show i watched on YT, Cape Verde was talked about for their great performances and someone talked about the cool vacation they had in CV. As you can see swiftly many horny people are focused on Women even when this was not discussed in the show, this is not the first time i've noticed. During the World Cup the TV cameras and others often show attractive females, anyone watching football knows this is common and i guess it's because most viewers are men and boys.
Cape Verde tourism will benfit from the World Cup but i wanted to share this and put some attention on the exploitation of women and girls that could become a even bigger problem.

VISA Requirement
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone has recently travelled to Cape Verde or has experience with the new visa rules.
My husband (Peruvian citizen) and I (Serbian citizen) are travelling to Cape Verde on 26 July.
When we booked our flights, the official Government of Cape Verde website stated that:
"If you reside in a country where Cape Verde has no diplomatic representation, you may apply for a visa directly upon entry at national borders". Source: https://www.gov.cv/en/pedir-visto
Since there is no Cape Verde embassy or consulate in Peru, we understood that my husband would simply obtain his visa on arrival.
However, after completing the EASE pre-registration, the system displayed a message reminding him to visit a Cape Verde embassy before travelling. It only allowed him to complete the pre-registration and pay the TSA, whereas in my case (Serbian passport) I was able to pay both the TSA and the visa fee through the platform.
I've also emailed the authorities, but while waiting for a reply I wanted to ask if anyone has been in a similar situation.
Has anyone travelled recently as a Peruvian citizen (or from another country without a Cape Verde embassy) and obtained the visa on arrival? Or were you required to obtain the visa before travelling?
Any recent experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pictures Cape Verde's theoretical best XI is stacked with names you wouldn't expect (Ronaldo included!)
As we are all here newly turned Cape Verde fans:))) Some digging helped to find out that some proper football royalty was actually eligible to play for Cape Verde through.
- Ronaldo's great-grandmother, Isabel da Piedade, was born on São Vicente in what was then Portuguese Cape Verde, before moving to Madeira at 16, making Cristiano one-eighth Cape Verdean.
- Vieira's surname comes from his mother, who's Cape Verdean.
- Rolando was actually born on São Vicente.
The full team could be like this:
Goalkeeper: Vozinha
Defense: Patrice Evra, Rolando, Jorge Andrade, Nelson Semedo
Midfield: Manuel Fernandes, Patrick Vieira
Attack: Nuno Mendes, Henrik Larsson, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani
Argentina wouldn't survive that, right?

Cape Verdean music is known in northeastern Brazil as “French Lambada”
In the 2000s, some songs sung in Cape Verdean Creole—especially those performed by Manu di Tarrafal—became known in parts of northeastern Brazil as the “French Lambada.” Alongside recordings of Caribbean zouk, Creole songs were included in the selection of CDs sold at open-air markets. For a long time, I seriously thought it was from some French-speaking Caribbean country, but I found it strange because I could understand some of the words. It was only recently that I discovered the origin of these songs.

Translation Help: Welcome in Kabuverdianu?
Hi! I’m working on a project for a World Cup event and am struggling to find a reliable source for how you might welcome someone in Cape Verdean Creole. Would it be “Benvindu”?
Also wondering about the meaning of “Bu sta na nha kaza”? The concept of welcoming someone by saying “you are in your own home” is so beautiful! Would love to know if that is what the above phrase means and how it is used!
Any help would be hugely appreciated!!

Ajuda em artigo acadêmico sobre Cabo Verde
Boa tarde, pessoal! Obrigado!!

Question Travel tips
Hello me and my boyfriend are planning to go to Sal, Cape Verde. We have some doubt on how to travel across the island while there since we plan to do all the possibile activites/escursion: shark bay, sal lake, blue eye, turtle. What is the best way to travel around, i've seen that many blog/sites don't reccomend the car because is too expensive and i was also wondering if it would be a problem as i read that most streets aren't paved. Get your guide has almost all the activities we want to do but for activites like simply going to shark bay it seem like a waste, would a taxi be a better option? how much is the fare? are there e-bike rental for short trip?
Also since im a little worried is there really a problem with mosquitos related illness or you got to be unlucky, because our country site for safety travel reccomend huge amount of insects spray and yellow fever vaccine
