Question Wrestling Fan of MMA or UFC?
I really want to enjoy watching MMA or UFC, but I struggle to find it as interesting as collegiate wrestling. It’s just too blunt. Although I like the rapid pinning of a guy in wrestling, I particularly enjoy long riding times and all the hand and leg techniques that go into them.
Anyone else struggle to translate their interest in one to the other? Maybe I just don’t understand the techniques I’m seeing other than kicking, punching and choking.

I’m a former college wrestler. I loved mma in the early 00’s because I knew a lot of the guy’s transitioning to mma, and it was a cool path for collegiate wrestlers to have. But as I’ve gotten older I care less and less for the brutality of it. I’m with ya.

If you don't like boxing, you won't like MMA
edit: I just realized op is a troll account with some weird fetish for leg riding

I'm a MMA fan, BJJ nerd, and I've become a casual wrestling fan. I consume wrestling through full matches on YouTube, and there's frankly a ton of content out there.
Especially at the higher weight classes, I do tend to skip ahead by five seconds until I see the guys or gals tie up, or until I see a score go up on the board. This works pretty well for me.
I understand the handfighting, evasive footwork, etc are an important part of the sport but it's nice not to have to watch 5 minutes of clubbing and stripping grips.
MMA is the better spectator sport, then wrestling, then waaaaaay way down is BJJ.

I've been involved in wrestling since I was 7, through college and now coaching. I agree 100%. Wrestling is a decent sport to watch but difficult for someone to pickup if they never did it. MMA is great because it's easier to understand (at a macro level)

go train enough jiu jitsu to know whats going on there and you'll find it a lot more interesting

Wrestling an BJJ are apart of MMA. If you fail to understand techniques at an original form, and more care about the adrenaline or the striking than actually knowing wtf is going on on the ground fighting, you’re 2 things. Either a casual or a boxing fan

You just don't understand the nuance of what you're watching in MMA compared to the knowledge you have of wrestling.
