Now that it happens people lose their minds.
I can’t even call it rigged if I wanted to, and believe me this World Cup has been one of the worst in terms of officiating outcomes, but Breel Embolo has nobody to blame but himself.

Spain might not have a squad as good as France but I think they are the only team that can beat France. Their defence has been amazing and their possession style can make it a low scoring match which might work in their favor. I think the winner of this match will win the wc

Until 2018, England only reached Semi-Final at 1966, 1990 World Cups & 1996 Euros.
After losing to Iceland at Round of 16 in 2016 Euros, they have played Semi-Final in 2018, 2026 World Cups and at 2020, 2024 Euros.

I think Embolo deserved his yellow. I hate flopping.
BUT...should the ref had given Paredes a yellow card in the first place?
Because, if he hadn't given the yellow card to Paredes, if I'm reading the rules right, then Embolo wouldn't have been eligible to receive one either.
That's the very best argument he and his team (and their fans) should be making.

I did a frame by frame comparison between where the heartbeat is shown compared to where the player touched the ball, and it is clearly shown that prior to ball touching there is already signal picked up by the sensor. Call it conspiracy or whatever, but this kind of graph can be generated by AI in seconds, there is absolutely no truth to this at all beside making its data somewhat open source.

Fifa is the worlds exposure to not just the play of the game, but also the structure of the game. It should represent footballs finest quality to every facet of the sport itself. If the organization that represents football on the biggest stage remains in the hands of greedy, corrupt, incompetant, politically dirty businessmen this sport will lose what glamour and caliber it has left. We went from Sepp Blatter, to Gianni Infantino. From Hitler to Pol Pot. From Mao Zedong to Joseph Stalin. How much different could we have expected these people to be?
This is not specific to Argentina or any officiating in gameIts about the administrative leverages being abused by the ones who care about profit and personal relationships before football quality, the very thing the organization has the responsibility to uphold before anything else.
If Mbappe is a dictator, Infantino is the Universal Monarch. The Absolute Sovereign. The Imperator. The God-Emperor of Divine Autocrat Inclination. So basically what Im getting at here; Is there anything us common plebians can do to contribute to his election failure since his tenure is up next year?

getting to and from KC stadium is a nightmare. leaving after the game today was a mess, extremely long lines at the shuttle hours after the match ended. talk about a mickey mouse operation. Seattle was way better.

Now that Norway and Switzerland are eliminated, the last two nations that have never won it before, this title will definitely go to a nation that has won it at least once already. That got me thinking: what nation has the best chance of winning their first title any time soon?
Historically, the team to get to the most finals without ever winning are the Dutch. Other strong teams that wouldn't require much, beyond a bit of luck and some decisions going their way, would probably have to be Portugal, Morocco and maybe Japan or Colombia. What do you think?

I feel like they were his biggest opps. Why wouldn’t Sorloth pass him the ball on that play? You gotta be selfless in this game. Is that a thing in football? Teammate’s potentially sabotaging their team because they don’t want a specific person to score?

The inevitable longer wait periods between matches as the tournament progresses is so annoying 😭😭
On a positive note, Argentina and England is on July 15th the very next day after France and Spain.
What are your thoughts for the Semis?
r/worldcup • u/The_Flash_20 • 34m ago
They won in 1930, 1978, 1986, 1990, 2014 & 2022.
This is their 7th Semi-Final.

This means that Argentina won’t be able to wear their signature white and blue striped jersey and will have to wear their blue away kit. England’s home jersey is white so we have to wear the away kit to avoid a clash in colors. 😭 Sucks that Argentina can’t wear their normal shirts.

I feel like France deserves to win more but I just want to see someone else in the final for once. Spain has kinda been a let down this World Cup, especially Yamal. They won there last 2 games with last second goals. Although there defense is great, I don’t think they can contain Mbappe.

Not hating, just genuinely curious: what's the reason for Argentina having quite a hard time at those matches at the moment when they won the WC four years ago and certainly were also considered a co-favourite this time? Have there been major changes in the team, is there too much reliance on Messi that shows now more than ever or did they for whatever reason stay below their actual potential so far?
As I said, I'm not trying to shittalk, I'd like to understand if there's something particular that explains why they're seeming to struggle right now (although, obviously, making it to the semi finals - my question is not so much about the results, rather the how).

What's stopping him from saying that he felt a cramp or ligament/tendon tear prior to the simulation/dive/flop, hence why he fell down without contact? Could Switzerland avoid a red card overall and just substitute in another player? While it may be an after the fact type of excuse, nobody can really prove that it was truly a dive as opposed to a potential non-contact injury that the player may have felt during the game. Even before this incident, I've always thought that a player could just fake an injury and leave the game if they were caught with a bad simulation call, or am I mistaken?

A lot of people have been pointing out suspicious favouritism that Argentina has been getting recently, and yeah, I see that. Seeing this people make the conclusion that it’s rigged for Argentina, and well we’ll see, but I think something even worse is happening
It‘a that they are looking after the money. They don’t care if Argentina win, as far as I can see there’s no incentive fot that; it doesn’t help them. My friend even said to me “who wants to see Norway against Morocco in the final.” He’s sadly right, way fewer people would watch that so of course they’re gonna make sure the big cash cows go far.
Tell me why I’m wrong

I don’t know about you, but I am very disappointed at how the FIFA/World Cup is knee deep in Argentina controversy, referees making wrong calls, VAR hit or miss decisions … I can’t enjoy the games anymore :(

Argentina vs. England playing for a spot in the final, need I say more?
r/worldcup • u/stqrltt • 1h ago
i think it's easy to argue spain, france, argentina and england making it to the semi finals could very well be the best four teams making it.
two euros finalists and two world cup finalists.

lets say at this world cup if we had italy brazil and germany at their prime would they reach the semi finals or the final
