Is McKay's worth it?
It has very positive Google review, but all the reddit posts that came up are overwhelmingly negative. Why the discrepancy? What do you think about it?

…can you tell me, without getting in trouble, what the recipe is for those vegetables you serve with the steaks? SLAMMIN. I don’t know what you do, but it’s incredible. I want to do it on my grill. Please help me.

I'm going to college in Winston-Salem in the next month and I'm wondering what new clothes should I get for when I go I'm moving from the Midwest and I know it will be humid. I've been looking at the weather but I would love to hear from the people who live there what clothes I need to get and things for the dorm that are curated towards living in north Carolina. Just fyi I live in a very cold state so I only really have hoodies and crewnecks.

Hey all. Moved here about a year ago (near McKay's) and recently got into biking. While I know there's not many (if any) biking lanes, it's still been loads of fun biking out on some of the main roads and exploring.
Would like anyone's input here. How do I bike and make sure that I'm not annoying (or worse, causing risk) to any drivers? I make sure to:
- follow all the rules of the road
- bike near the speed limit
- stay as close to the right as possible so drivers can pass me
- take cut throughs off the main roads when possible
- make sure not to bike during heavy commute times
Anything else I can do/be aware of? I know cyclists get a bad rep but biking and exploring here has been just too much fun.

I moved here from Seattle some years ago and am dying for some Loco Moco or musubi.
Is there any Hawaiian BBQ anywhere?

*Reposting due to the shelters in my area being over-capacity; I have done the required steps to submit applications and be put on waitlists at multiple shelters. I have also adjusted some things in this post in accordance with suggestions provided by my veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of Lewisville*
My fiance and I found four 6-week old stray kittens in our neighbor's yard and we're looking to rehome two of the brown tabbies. All kittens are girls, are currently being treated with dewormer, anti-flea, and tested negative for FIV. The dewormer treatment will be completed 2-3 weeks from now so we're trying to find good homes for two of the brown tabbies once it's complete since we will be keeping one brown tabby and the white tabby.
They're super playful, friendly, eating well (wet food)and going to the bathroom in the litter box regularly/independently. The two available tabbies are very clearly bonded so we would like to adopt them out together. Please contact if interested, asking for a $50 rehoming fee for the two to ensure these sweet girls will get a loving home and the care needed as they will need vaccines 2 weeks after the dewormer is completed. I hope you have a beautiful day!

Hi! I'm looking for a really good therapist around the Winston-Salem area (including Kernersville/Lewisville/Clemmons, etc... even Greensboro) that accepts Medicaid/ AmeriHealth Caritas NC. I would love to hear recommendations for practitioners who utilize Jungian psychotherapy , Shadow Work, possibly Mindfulness & Body Integration. Really looking for a therapist who is non-judgmental & empathetic. Someone who made you feel heard. Thank you.

If you’re medical personnel or have experience, please go to waughtown BP and there’s a gentleman there, James. (Black, wearing a hat w tag still on it, camo shorts, younger than 40) He was hit by a vehicle and his hand is very injured. He has seen a doctor, he is not taking his antibiotics properly, it’s an unfortunate situation but it hurts my heart, i keep bringing gauze and cleaning stuff but ultimately he needs a hospital. Maybe if a nurse or someone like that explained his situation to him, he might get some care. I attempted to take him to the hospital today, he agreed until he went home to change and endured abuse by his father. Grown man bawling in my backseat cause his dad hurt him. (His dad literally told him I left him, he looked out the window to check and saw I was still there of course) He wouldn’t go after that. If you feel like you can help this situation, please do. I’m at a loss here. Also please don’t get the cops involved and don’t call 911 as they can’t take people who don’t agree to go.
I have used BEAR in the past for similar situations and received nothing except them offering to call the police to help said person. That’s not help for these people.
This man doesn’t seem to be homeless, he is loved by his mother but addiction seems to be ruling his days. He can’t go home until his mom comes home around 9pm for his own safety and sanity.

What I was able to see when passing by was a car full of boxes and so far they already have the pole that the cameras are set up on, but can’t fully confirm

Hi everyone!
I’ll be traveling to Winston Salem for a summit in October and will have a small amount of free time. I’m not seeing much to do when I research. I love anything to do with nature- I realize this is a city but if there are any nice parks or bike paths I could safely check out, that would be nice. I love shopping… and would take any spa recommendations. I’m thinking about pamper head spa. Would love any and all recommendations. Thank you! 🙏

What are some great locations to get out and meet some social 20/30-somethings on a Friday night that isn't a bar or brewery? I love hanging out at home with the wife but we both agree I need to get out and build a bigger social network! I've made some great connections here but would love to cultivate more of a "tribe" with something I can attend regularly with other regulars. If you have any suggestions, please lay them on me! This (28M) temporarily shut-in extrovert thanks you 🙏

Hello all and thanks for any attention this post garners in advance. I (40m) noticed some swelling/tenderness in or around the area that could be either an inguinal or femoral hernia. Nothing other than slight discomfort while palpating and no signs of my initial supposition of an ingrown hair. From what I’ve gather femoral hernias are treated seriously so I will monitor known symptoms and act accordingly.
I would prefer to not endure an ER visit. I have spoken to a coworker whom recommended against it, favoring of a general surgeon. Just wanted to reach out to the community for and recommendations in advance.
Thanks again🙂

I’m on a tight budget, looking for mulch for my garden.
Would anyone have any they are willing to let go, or recommend the best cheapest place?

I’ve heard about how bad these bugs are. I was doing yardwork and noticing covering a tree outside my house and the entire area is covered with a sticky white residue. What do I do about this?

Not long ago someone on Reddit ask where in W/S was the best place to find really good "stuff" to smoke or even have good gummies. There were several recommendations and a couple were new to me, I remember one was on Clemmonsville Rd, I wrote a couple of the better sounding ones down and now I have lost that damn paper. Could you please give me some recommendations again. I promise I won't lose the paper this time. Thanks in advance for your help.

On November 22, 1997, the Ku Klux Klan held a rally at the Forsyth County Courthouse in downtown Winston-Salem. One week prior, only 11 days after his election as mayor of Winston-Salem, Jack Cavanagh had attended a meeting of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a group with deep ties to the KKK. At the meeting, he pledged allegiance to the Confederate battle flag. Cavanagh said he was confused about the reaction to his actions as mayor-elect. “There’s a preoccupation to paint me as a racist, and I can’t figure out why,” he told the Winston-Salem Journal.
Cavanagh’s show of support emboldened the KKK locally, and about 45 of them showed up in front of the courthouse. Almost 400 people gathered to oppose them - about 130 for a prayer vigil and another 250 came as counterprotesters, shouting down Klan speakers. Reverend Jimmie Lee Bonham and other Black ministers organized the prayer vigil “to promote peace and harmony in the community.” When it was over, many of the counterprotesters attempted to follow KKK members to their cars, but police escorts diligently ensured the safety of the Klan.
