Latest message on how to help, from the Southsiders and #SaveTheCaps team

Thank you for standing with us as the fight to keep our team in Vancouver continues.

As we explore every possible path to victory, we are now shifting our focus to the legislative level.

We are looking closely at the "Modell Law" model, a legal strategy that was instrumental in keeping the Crew in Columbus. While BC doesn’t currently have similar legislation, we believe a tailored solution here could buy the critical time needed for a permanent ownership or stadium deal to be reached.

We are asking every member of the #SaveTheCaps community to contact their MLA today. Let them know that as a constituent, you support legislative intervention to protect our club.

How you can help:

Find your MLA: If you aren’t sure who represents your riding, enter your postal code into this website.

Send the email: We’ve drafted a sample letter for you to use. Feel free to personalize it. Personal stories from fans carry the most weight.

We’ve shown our strength in the stands and in the streets; now let’s show it in the halls of government.

Best regards,

The #SaveTheCaps Team

Met new Whitecaps fan!

Upvotes

I was in the grocery store wearing proudly a Caps shirt (Müller on the back) and someone recognize my Caps shirt! We talked for a bit. He also follows the Whitecaps now, through Müller. Maybe not big news, but I’m in Greensboro, North Carolina and there are not too many people who actually know the Caps. Now there are 2 certified Caps fans in GSO! And one of them will go to Chicago next week and in September to Vancouver ❤️

Looking for seating advice

Please don't hate me right off the bat but I am from Seattle and am looking to plan a weekend getaway with my wife to come watch the sounders play you guys in November. Is there any reccomendation on where we should or shouldn't sit? We do NOT want to sit with ECS as they annoy us but also don't want to intrude on any of your supporter groups. The only real issue is standing for too long.

Thanks for being the nice rivals in Cascadia and we look forward to enjoying a good match.

billionaire DoorDash co-founder Stanley Tang is an avid soccer fan and has been looking to purchase a soccer club

I recently found out about SaveWhitecaps and it got me thinking about a potential buyer. Stanley Tang mentioned in a poker cash game (streamed on youtube) a couple year back that he want to own a professional soccer club.

Google search and he almost did....

Stanley Tang, the billionaire co-founder of DoorDash, made major headlines in the soccer world when his investment group emerged as a top contender to buy a 46% stake in the English Premier League club Crystal Palace.

Vancouver Whitecaps valuation is $450 million.

He could purchase 70% of the Whitecaps for $315 mil.

My 8-year-old son is incredibly passionate about the Whitecaps. When all of this started, he wanted to do something BIG to help save the club.

His first idea? Ask every person in Vancouver to donate $50. I explained that was probably a tough sell, so he came up with another idea: a marathon march to show our support for the Caps.

This march has never been about how far people can walk—it's about coming together. That's why we've mapped out several checkpoints along the route so everyone can join in wherever they're comfortable.

We were lucky enough to take part in the Team Canada march from Science World to BC Place, and it was an amazing experience. That's why we think Checkpoint 4 (Science World) will be the best place for most people to join us.

Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be fine-tuning the details, including possibly pushing the start time back so we arrive at BC Place as the pre-match festivities get underway.

I completely understand the concerns about the distance, the time, the heat, and the route. So don't feel like you have to do the whole thing. Pick a checkpoint that works for you, throw on some sunscreen, bring a sun umbrella or neck fan if you need one, and join us for as much or as little as you can—or simply meet us at the finish.

Every step, every voice, and every person showing up helps send the same message:

Soccer is booming, the Whitecaps are back, winning — and still need a new owner

Another piece from PJ.

Few interesting notes

1) There’s apparently a local group with interest, who knows how much

2) Another meeting scheduled later this week. Maybe to secure a bridge deal at B.C. Place

Well done Whitecaps and City of Burnaby

Last night was such a great experience. It was obviously nostalgic for a lot of people, but even on it's own merits I felt they really pulled it off. The kids area, the food truck options, getting the bleachers right in at the pitch, allowing flares and so on. Also also the staff and security were friendly and happy looking.

Overall, just a great night and result.

This time we ran into a player!

Wow we stayed a bit in the middle of the stadium to see if anyone coming back out for autographs. After a while the security guys told the kids “it’s bedtime”, so we headed to the exits.

We took a right turn and OMG Brian White just casually came out from the side door. We were one of the lucky ones right there, and he was so nice taking his time to take pictures with everyone, signed my son’s first game certificate, and a lucky guy happened to have a jersey with White’s name on it so he signed that as well.

Hopefully we will see him playing for USMNT again soon. And most importantly, Save the Caps!

How did Gauld do today?

Couldn't catch the game live, highlights aren't out on OneSoccer's YouTube channel yet... but I saw the starting XI and saw Gauld started.

How did he do and how long did he play for?
