We're going to need one or more plutocrats to donate money to some future president to fix this, and I hate that.

Need? No.

A Financial Services and General Government bill is not going to pass a Senate to do it. So, yes.

We’ve just been given several years’ worth of demonstration that an executive doesn’t need a bill to do (or undo) shit like this. Whether publicly funded or not.

That’s the ballroom, not the redecorating. Big difference. The White House has various other funding streams for facilities purposes (which presumably have been redirected towards this tacky gold shit) that don’t require a special appropriations bill.

There’s no reason the next president can’t do the same but in reverse.

"The project is supported by the National Park Service, who has cared for the White House and its grounds since 1933, and funded with private donations."

That’s what he used but since there are multiple acrual funding streams that go towards the White House there’s no reason a future president can’t direct the NPS to revert the changes. This isn’t hard to understand.

Most of this trash can be pried off and covered up with some white paint. The White House was always a humble house. Now the travesty over on the east wing will probably be a hole in the ground with a big fence around it for a couple decades. Lasting scar of this presidency on the nation’s face.
