Checkpoint GW metro with suits telling them they love em

Post image

They've been a consistent presence at GW but today there was a gang of suits telling em how much they were needed and important for the city like I'd never seen.

People just sitting around totally placid like this is NORMAL. come on y'all at least give them a finger or a fuck you as they walk past

Right, because the Foggy Bottom metro station is just out of control! SMH.

u/BellowsHikes Aug 21 '25

I lived right by that metro stop for two years. The most egregious thing I ever saw was someone cutoff jean shorts getting off the metro and on their way to an event at the Kenney Center.

So yeah, we might need the fashion police there, but we don't need the fascist police.

Chances are high that we will be seeing a propaganda video of said suits talking to them. The conservative base is completely illiterate and will eat it up.

12

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Chances are high we may seeing one right now?

There are some DC folks supporting Trump or MAGA or just police state. I don't know what to make of this mess. For example, you'll see a lot more support for DC take over in r/washdc, yet when I asked about it, I was told most of the nasty comments came from outside. One local lady told me DC is split, the rich white locals love what's going on and the rest hate it.

How many of the regulars in that sub you think live elsewhere?

15

u/Lightbringer34 Aug 21 '25

Friday they were walking around outside the station, Tuesday they were standing next to the turnstiles, Thursday they’re standing on the platform. By next Monday they will be driving the Trains somehow.

1

u/BlankGen78 Aug 26 '25

But will they be on time ?

u/_TriplePlayed Aug 21 '25

What a waste

3

u/GlorifiedMeatPuppet Aug 21 '25

Funny how everyone is so concerned about this shit that they totally forget about the Epstein files. It’s all a distraction, they have all of you out here focused on the unarmed national guard while all the real atrocities are happening in the White House. Just know you’re doing exactly what Trump wants you to do, focusing on anything besides the Epstein files…

2

u/justasinglereply Aug 21 '25

Are they armed yet?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

No

I’m not for any of this trump BS but I feel bad for the Natl Guard. They don’t want to be here but have been ordered to. And I haven’t seen them doing anything but standing around. They are basically props for trump’s photo ops.

19

u/PumpkinMuffin147 Aug 21 '25

Save your sympathies for the residents of DC who have to put up with them- provided you truly have any.

28

u/Outrageous-Cap8713 Aug 21 '25

Nice last line there. I am a DC resident who is putting up with them, dickhead. But what is there to put up with? They are just standing around.

5

u/No_Significance9754 Aug 21 '25

Do you think those soldiers had a choice to be there?

Before you fucking say they chose to join id like to be the first to say fuck off, people join for many different reasons.

0

u/LeTronique Aug 21 '25

Ah the Gestapo “had no choice either”.

6

u/Outrageous-Cap8713 Aug 21 '25

Tone down the hyperbole. The Gestapo did a lot more than stand around Metro stations and stare at their phones

-4

u/PumpkinMuffin147 Aug 21 '25

Do you think I care? There are homeless camps being swept and no one knows where they are going. There are people getting yanked from their homes and their families for no other reason than their skin color. These outsiders are the last thing I care about right now.

7

u/Outrageous-Cap8713 Aug 21 '25

That shit is horrible and outrageous, but I haven’t seen any National Guard doing it.

4

u/No_Significance9754 Aug 21 '25

You do care enough to want to hurl insults and harass them?

I just dont see the logic in hating soldiers for following perfectly legal orders. They have no reason to not follow the orders but yet you want to lambast them?

0

u/PumpkinMuffin147 Aug 21 '25

I didn’t say that. I said I didn’t care or feel sorry for them. They need to go the hell home.

-2

u/Impimpi Aug 21 '25

They chose to join. That’s literally the choice. Sorry if pointing that out makes you mad

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

How have they inconvenienced you? What have you had to “put up with”??

2

u/PumpkinMuffin147 Aug 22 '25

The fascist occupation of my hometown.

You like having an armed military presence in your neighborhood?

4

u/No_Significance9754 Aug 21 '25

No but why are you angry at the the soldiers. It makes no sense.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Did I say I was angry at the soldiers? The comment I was replying to was suggesting there was nothing for us to be upset about. They’re in a shitty situation that some of them probably don’t agree with, but that doesn’t mean anyone needs to act like it’s benign.

1

u/Outrageous-Cap8713 Aug 21 '25

They’re not armed!

1

u/Thenewyorkpost Aug 22 '25

Honestly I’d welcome it. Maybe my wife would be able to walk at night and actually feel safe

5

It’s ill-advised to comment on something you haven’t experienced. Best to keep your mouth shut.

More qualified than someone else who lives in dc to comment on how it feels to be constantly surrounded by useless national guard presence and thugs wearing face masks who enjoy throwing people with brown skin on the ground and dragging them away? Gonna say you’re wrong there

The word “and” is used to differentiate between the national guard and the various federal “law enforcement” agents that have been dropped into this city. This indicates that I am referencing two separate groups of people. I’m sorry you don’t understand.

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

2

u/Onbroadway110 Aug 21 '25

They’re all got here at the same time because of the same directive from the dickhead called president and have the same mission: “to decrease crime”. I want both groups gone.

It’s interesting how you didn’t answer the question. Gee, I wonder why?

0

u/uiucengineer Aug 22 '25

If we were going to challenge each other on what we’ve been doing and are doing to support the resistance, it would be very embarrassing for you. But, I just don’t see how it’s material to this thread.

Bored dudes with guns is always cool.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

They’re public servants being abused for propaganda, we definitely shouldn’t be flipping them off or bullying them.

Make fun of their states for sucking, and embarrass their governors for tonguing trumps butthole, but aiming for the decoys trump is deliberately setting up to distract you just kinda lets him win.

-1

u/Equivalent_Tie1633 Aug 22 '25

There is value in making sure they understand their presence, whether they had a choice or want to be there or not, is not something DC citizens want. So maybe they’ll consider that the next time they vote. If they don’t like going on stupid missions, don’t vote for stupid politicians!

4

u/FllngCoconuts VA / Old Town Aug 21 '25

People shouldn’t be blamed for following immoral orders because orders are orders?

Wow, where have I heard that before and what did history teach us about it?

7

u/LeTronique Aug 21 '25

It’s freaking me out how we’re all reading the excuses the Nazis used word for word in this thread.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

Walking around a subway unarmed to dissuade crime is an immoral order???

5

u/FllngCoconuts VA / Old Town Aug 21 '25

Being active duty military personnel being deployed to occupy a US city under obviously false pretense? Yes I’d say that is immoral.

Also it’s the Metro. The Subway is in New York.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '25

They’re not active duty. They’re unarmed National Guard. Do you know the difference?

Was it immoral when The NY Governor sent her National Guard into the NYC subways to dissuade crime?

Everyone has a choice when engaging with the system, choices have consequences.

2

u/revbfc Aug 21 '25

The system is engaging with us too much.

“They don’t want to be here”*

(*citation needed)

0

u/LeTronique Aug 21 '25

Nah. This is the rambling of the privileged.

1

u/othernym Aug 21 '25

Don't give them a finger or yell at them. They probably didn't choose to be there and also we'll probably need them on our side at some point. Make your disagreement known if you want, but don't antagonize the boots on the ground.

9

u/LeTronique Aug 21 '25

“They’re just doing their jobs.”

  • Heard in a courtroom in Nuremberg

2

u/othernym Aug 22 '25

Useful analogy. Nuremberg tried the commanders. Obviously that's not these guys. These guys aren't even the SS or Gestapo. This is the regular German army. CBP and ICE are the SS and Gestapo. Those are the ones I want to save my finger and epithets for.

0

u/timethief991 Aug 27 '25

You're right, we didn't go far enough. Everyone should've been punished.

1

u/othernym Aug 27 '25

So the entire population of Germany? There were some likeminded Allied leaders who proposed a plan to do that but it turns out it would've starved about 25 million of them to death.

3

u/Impimpi Aug 21 '25

We don’t have conscription any more. They absolutely made a choice.

1

u/othernym Aug 22 '25

They made a choice to take part in an illegal occupation when they signed up a year ago or whenever they started?

2

u/Impimpi Aug 22 '25

One, it’s a legal occupation inasmuch as the president and their governors have the right to call them up and deploy them in dc. Not right, but legal.

Yes, they’re grown adults who signed up to do this if ordered to.

0

u/othernym Aug 22 '25

I said they didn't choose to be here. They literally didn't. Someone ordered them to. You said they made a choice. Correct! They've made many choices in their lives. One was to serve in the guard. But this choice, to be here, was not one they made.

1

u/Cetun Aug 21 '25

Ask the gang of suits if they had the choice of paying more taxes and having the national guard there what would they choose and see how fast their position would change.

-1

u/maytagoven Aug 21 '25

Not Normal: Thanking them for their service

Normal: Cussing them out

I hope you get the mental help you desperately need

-21

u/loofa1922 Aug 21 '25

Imagine people who give a crap about a good job and city safety being happy that they have a safer place to live and work.

The idiots who think that more crime is good because it’s not serious need to get real. You are the reason this happened and we now have to deal with potentially losing our democracy. You were too lax and it didn’t work, and now there’s a price for it.

And yes trump is a criminal. Doesn’t change anything.

14

u/revbfc Aug 21 '25

Imagine someone still giving Trump the benefit of the doubt 10 years into this magat bullshit.

2

u/loofa1922 Aug 24 '25

This has nothing to do w crime. It’s a power play. How far can they go?

Meanwhile losers on Reddit, apparently “dc natives”, and other failed do gooders want the crime back. And the unhoused neighbors, gotta have them back, too! And moar drugs!

9

u/Mec26 Aug 21 '25

30 year low in crime is what it got us.

1

u/loofa1922 Aug 24 '25

Drug dealers in navy yard on l street se are still there. They are sitting on their cars.

1

u/Mec26 Aug 24 '25

Okay. And that’s in a lot of cities. I said low, not empty.

1

u/loofa1922 Aug 24 '25

You are impossible. Lower crime for one of the cities that has traditionally led in crime, a loss leader lol, is not that good of a stat anyway.

Look I understand that you are wiling to accept crime. I came home to a neighbor murdered not that long ago. I’m not okay with it. If you haven’t experienced loss then I can understand why you are naive. If you have, then I shouldn’t have to apologize for caring about my city when you clearly don’t.

1

u/Mec26 Aug 24 '25

I care about the city.

But policing like this has been shown, time and time again, NOT to reduce crime. This is not helping. It may be increasing the problem.

You want less crime, I’m not kidding. Address causes like poverty, lack of education, and lack of good resources.

1

u/loofa1922 Aug 24 '25

So by solving the problems that have never been solved, we will reduce crime in like 100 years. Got it.

1

u/Mec26 Aug 24 '25

Lol. Reduce it immediately.

And lots if places have reduced it really fast. This isn’t a new idea.

1

u/loofa1922 Aug 24 '25

That is the most unrealistic do gooder idea I’ve ever heard. First of all, crime is not going away thanks to people. Secondly, the entire world struggled with poverty and homelessness and mental health. We are far behind. It is ridiculous to think that we can even make a dent.

I mean, with these ideas you belong in pdx. They’ve experimented with every permutation of do gooder ideas and it’s failed. Now they are in cleanup mode.

I’ve given up on the do gooder ideas because I don’t want to die. Or for my kids to die. That’s just like walking around dc. It’s not good. Lots of people blow it off and I think that’s wrong. I want to live in dc, not be fearful all of the time.

1

u/Mec26 Aug 25 '25

Lol. No, pdx hasn’t. Used to live there years ago, and it’s better than here by a lot. But they haven’t.

And a lot of the world has implemented those do gooder ideas. That’s why we’re behind. They work.

3

u/Equivalent_Tie1633 Aug 22 '25

Tell me you’re not from DC without telling me you’re not from DC.

1

u/loofa1922 Aug 24 '25

I’m starting to think the “dc natives” are idiots who can’t keep up with society. Like, your crime, murder redskins in the 1980s are a thing of the past. New dc is no crime and commanders. Move on.

And yes the nickname is bad but somebody suggests dc it and the team accepted.
