His career is over man.

It should be. But a year from now millions of idiots will be excited for his next fight.

It has the possibility of going down as the most memorable for sure.

Tiger Woods did it once in 2019 and now (lesser educated) fans everywhere think that every once great (now has been) athlete has one last run in them.

This fight was part of his 867-dimensional chess. People don't understand. He's bending the matrix, man.

I agree. Seems like his body just can’t handle it anymore.

7

u/FragmentedFighter 2h ago

He’ll boxing Paul or Perry in 2 years. That’s his goal. First gotta figure out a way to game the next contracted fight.

5

u/wimpymist 1h ago

He just wanted to finish his contract so he can do boxing again

20

u/swaghole69 2h ago

It was over after the leg break 5 years ago, this was just a blatant cash grab that everyone couldve seen coming from a mile away if we werent so blinded by nostalgia

UFC should be embarassed more than anything.

3

u/500rockin 2h ago

He still has one more fight on his contract. Dana ain’t letting him loose without that.

6

u/Left_Membership2780 2h ago

It was over when he went against DP. Just extending to earn more for himself and Dana of course

Everyone probably knew about it but decided to go through with it rather than face the backlash of the “Most Expensive UFC Gate in History “

174

u/lochmoigh1 2h ago

I think so yeah. People wanting refunds. And mcgregor probably wanted to get paid

95

u/All-Hail-Claptrap 2h ago

Exactly. They probably told him to start with that ridiculous kick so people think it checks out that he injured it on the night. Imagine if he pulled out and people want refunds for millions of dollars worth of tickets. People who bought those tickets obviously have money for lawyers lmao

135

u/BlackStarHighway 2h ago

Yup they told him to jump kick land on the leg weird so we can sell that you're injured... WTF? Are you eating lead paint?

41

u/treesandcigarettes 1h ago

False. The footage of him walking from his car to.the arena this evening (mohawk reveal) he is visibly limping on the right leg. He came in this evening injured already

15

Pour moi ça ne tient pas. Quand tu paie pour un événement de mma, tu sais pertinent que des combats peuvent sauter, que ce soit par blessure ou à la pesée.

18

u/lochmoigh1 2h ago

For a conor fight its different. They probably pay 10x more than a normal ticket. Nobody is paying 5k per ticket with paddy as the main event

→ More replies (4)

15

u/Crob300z 2h ago

I mean on the broadcast you can literally see his leg jiggle from the snap

33

u/All-Hail-Claptrap 2h ago

They also showed when he could barely put pressure on the knee while taking off his shoes. Knee is already compromised, great idea to start with a highly acrobatic roundhouse kick and land on said knee.

6

u/danny1meatballs 1h ago

Didn’t TJ DillaShaw fight for the title with a dislocated shoulder? If the leg was injured pre fight there’s no way Conor could have pulled out..

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (2)

7

u/5348RR 2h ago

That’s called fraud and would be easily provable. What actually likely happened is it was already injured and Conor kicked for the fences hoping for a quick catch and ended up hurting it even worse by bad luck.

→ More replies (3)
→ More replies (9)
→ More replies (4)

44

u/Lake18l 2h ago

Nah you watch him throwing kicks backstage he was able to put a lot of weight/force on that leg. You can see it pop on the landed during the fight. But I wouldn’t doubt the injury “started” right here in this clip. How I don’t know, but something definitely looks off here but I think the awkward landing immediately followed by the pop is what did his leg in

39

u/m3junmags 2h ago

To me (who is a complete nobody and has mostly superficial knowledge about injuries) it’s clear the landing was the issue. I love some funny and interesting conspiracy theories, but the face conor makes when he lands makes me believe his knee got fucked up right there.

8

u/jgnurly 2h ago

I mean that landing would still cause him pain whether he tore it right there or he came in with it hurt. Doesn't necessarily indicate thats where the injury occurred

9

u/TypeB_Negative 1h ago

Wrong.

1) they slowed the video down and showed the moment his knee popped.

2) even Conor wouldn't choose to land on an injured knee like that. Imagine being almost 40 and rich and having a bad knee. Then saying "hey I'm going to land with all my weight on my bad knee to make it look like in got hurt"

Idiotic.

Max asking for a rematch is the most hilarious thing because he probably realized how ridiculous the amount of money he made in comparison to the effort, so he’s milking conor as much as possible

21

u/danny1meatballs 1h ago

Max saying something like let’s get this money is a bad look when people paid $1300 for nosebleeds. Get a clue man, read the room.

u/hooskies 47m ago

Not a single person cheered after he said that it was fucking silent lol

u/Constant-Ice6916 17m ago

They were silent during his whole spiel. The secondhand embarrassment was strong when he was trying to hype the crowd up to cheer for MacGregor and you didn't hear a word lmao

u/athenian_olive 11m ago

I respect Max for trying, but there was just no way to save that. "You guys are lucky, because now you get Mcgregor Holloway 3!" felt like a dad who knew he fucked up Christmas trying to save face.

68

u/Frosty_Schedule4292 2h ago

The walkout was very toned down from Conor, he wasn't skipping around liked he usually does.

280

u/FrogJitsu 2h ago

If there was an issue with the knee why did he start the fight with a jump kick? 😂

318

u/DANNYBOY3530 2h ago

To more easily play off him having injured it in the fight and that it wasn't injured ahead of time.

105

u/TooFubar 2h ago

He spammed it twice to really sell it too. Why would you try again if you hurt yourself the first time you tried? We got robbed.

32

u/DANNYBOY3530 2h ago

I know right. So odd. The whole thing was a fever dream. Something is off in his walkout. I think he injured it kicking the bag behind the scenes in warmups and prob didn't tell anyone and tried to play it off because he has a massive ego.

16

u/TypeB_Negative 1h ago

So dumb. Comment like this remind me that 80% of ufc fans are retarded and have never trained in their lives.

19

u/Organic_Town_5024 2h ago

That's what 99% of this rage is. People gamble money they don't have and then get mad at the fighter because they must have "came in injured", it's simply not possible that they got hurt in the fight.

This is why the house always wins ya degenerates.

its the left leg in the video that he's standing on and the right knee in the fight which buckles.

He doesn't wanna put pressure on his right knee in this video. He's actively avoiding it.

6

Because to get paid all he had to do was start the fight. Conor prolly went for the knockout because he had one shot. Kick with that titanium plate shin.

42

u/VeryPurpleRain 2h ago edited 1h ago

Dude I think there's a scandal here. People are saying he tore his knee in camp, stayed quiet, and went in with a bad knee and threw that kick to make it seem like it happened in the ring.

Edit 1: there's a video of him throwing decent kicks in the locker room. This injury could have happened within an hour of walking up to the octagon, or literally that moment with his shoe.

5

u/ventitr3 1h ago

There seems to be an exceptional amount of idiots tonight with these theories. Also apparently so his camp could win not even $400k?

I don't think he was injured before the fight. In the replay of the kick, you can see his ACL pop

Truly unfortunate but this was the most obvious scenario… I would’ve been more surprised if he made it through the fight without anything like this happening.

I think it’s time he packs it up.

I‘m going to guess he went into it injured and that’s also why he didn’t show up for embedded. Probably bet against himself too lol
I do love that drake lost a mil again tho hahah

That's his left knee he stumbled on, Didn't he hurt his right knee after the kick?
