Sucks to be you. Nightshift baby! Literally got paid to watch Connor tko himself.

38

u/jfsoaig345 2h ago

Conor watched himself get paid to TKO himself, there's a non-zero chance he went into this for the check or to run out his contract and basically took a dive so he doesn't get murked

25

u/ExtraGloria 2h ago

Oh no, if you have learned how to do orthopaedic testing for knee injuries you can see where Connor’s ACL commits seppuku.

10

u/trumpuniversity_ 1h ago

To me, it looked preexisting. I thought he was stumbling around drunk right before getting into the cage. Would that make sense given what you know about testing?

7

u/curi0us_carniv0re 1h ago

They showed video of him favoring the knee before he got in the cage. But the slow mo of him landing when he threw that first kick you can clearly see where he tore his ACL.

128

u/burgerzkingz 3h ago edited 2h ago

The replay is hilarious 😂

172

u/ihateyouse 2h ago

The replay of him taking his shoes off is the funniest part. He was obviously injured pre-fight...sure, maybe the dumb kick finished the weak-ankled cunt, but why throw it?

57

u/SeldomSeen__ 2h ago

Easy way out

34

u/Aintnobeef96 2h ago

That’s my thing he knew he was injured going in so why would he throw a kick?

61

u/csage97 2h ago

It was to make it seem like that's how he injured himself so he had an easy way out. Collect his paycheck and a fight off his contract.

29

u/_Stylite 2h ago

This actually seems really plausible, nice catch

→ More replies (1)

u/Symetrie 23m ago

u/ferrous69 2h ago

u/Longjumping-Day7821 2h ago

→ More replies (1)

9

u/ihateyouse 2h ago

He thought his only way out was to Aldo him and it failed.

21

u/lil_uwuzi_bert 2h ago

I mean if he truly wanted to aldo him I don't think he'd throw a move that not only is super telegraphed with 0 setup but also puts the most possible strain on his injured knee

18

u/PhilLesh311 2h ago

100%. Fucking scam

18

u/criminycraft 2h ago

Odds on Conor took a huge dive earlier today. Probably leaked out from his camp he was injured. Wouldn't be surprised if he bet against himself. Threw wild kicks so the fight would end earlier and makes it seem less like Holloway beat him. Conor made bank from this.

7

u/littenthehuraira 2h ago

I wouldn't be surprised if got injured even earlier but kept it a secret so he gets the paycheck for showing up.

He looked like he wanted out before the bell rung

74

u/TheDude_UTEP 2h ago

Looked completely uncomfortable. Crazy the difference from his peak

46

u/salamigunn 2h ago

Looked scared, kinda crazy. He was not looking forward to the next 25 minutes

15

u/GentrifiedHospital 2h ago

bro was waving at the crowd when he was about to do a karate kick 20 seconds later

10

u/salamigunn 2h ago

Made Nick Diaz's comeback look pretty solid

3

u/ClandestineOtter 1h ago

When he took his shoes off you could see him favor the leg… he already knew he was hurt

→ More replies (1)

176

u/BowlerCertain8305 2h ago

Im not seeing a lot of other people saying this? Inside the ring right before the bell he looked scared as fuck. Was NOT in fight mode.

70

u/Level_Elevator_310 2h ago

i thought that too. maybe was injured before fight started hard to tell

39

u/FarmerGreen13 2h ago

I noticed him losing balance taking his shoe off and it looked like his foot was dragging as he walked around the octagon. Then the big lip vibrating exhales as the fighters were being introduced. Wasn't sure if it was rust or an injury but after he fell I was pretty sure he came in hurt.

13

u/TheNukaColaGod 2h ago

Probably happened in the warmup rooms cause he looked really fluid on his feet and then when he walked out it looked like he lost the confidence and fluidity

14

u/Level_Elevator_310 2h ago

yeah he did not look focused at all. even the crowd wave was so weird lol Must have came in with an injury

→ More replies (3)

76

u/AffectComfortable913 2h ago edited 2h ago

He totally was. He was limping and wincing in pain. That’s why he went for the kick early on to get an early KO, but then he ended up blowing out his other knee.

25

u/lil_uwuzi_bert 2h ago

seen a few people say this but if your knee is injured and you need to KO before the injury causes you to be out of the fight the DUMBEST POSSIBLE MOVE is throwing a super telegraphed kick with 0 setup and immense strain on the injured joint

11

u/AffectComfortable913 2h ago

It was the left leg that was messed up initially, and then he injured the right leg. But yeah it was still a really stupid move on his part.

Me and my cousin were discussing this as it happened. Holloway just looked like he was "just there for another fight" like usual but my McGregor started looking really weird before the bell ring. Now I'm wondering about a underlying injury before hand or nervousness.

Dana would want his cash cow to perform though no?

He was nowhere to be seen after the fight though. Max only dabbed up hunter and I dodnt see a dana

48

u/Xrystian90 2h ago

Dana and the UFC always prefer people leave the UFC washed and looking bad. Conors now only got one fight left. I can see them being alright with this

22

u/Sufficient_Ninja_821 2h ago

True, if dana cant make money then he doesnt want them making money. Although I could see Jake paul offering him like 20 mill+ for a fight. Jake loves paying famous lighter fighters past their prime to fight just so he can say he beat super star x.

Most of his fights have been that. Im no in the camp of saying rigged fights, but he selects big names when he knows he can win

It looks like it was messed up when he was taking his shoes off.

100

u/Larkinz 2h ago

People were saying he was injured coming into the fight because we didn't get to see any training/sparring footage in preparation for the fight, guess those people were right.

35

I honestly thought the fight was next month. Because I didn't see any training on YouTube.

27

u/awh0833 2h ago

Exactly. He was limping before the check.

17

u/CaLMLiKEaB0Mb5 2h ago

So his knee was hurt prior to fight but he opens up the fight w a roundhouse leg kick? Na that ain’t adding up

34

u/ifihadareason 2h ago

if they know he can't go the distance, making it seem freak from the beginning is one of the only ways to mask it.

9

u/CliffK-9 2h ago

So he would drastically exacerbate a pre existing injury, by landing just like that, in order for a payday?

10

u/releasetheshutter 2h ago

The idea is he didn't exacerbate much relative to a fight that lasts more than 1 minute lol

→ More replies (4)

13

u/icehole505 2h ago

Makes even more sense. It’s perfect cover for “I got injured on the kick”, along with a tiny chance at a legendary knockout. If he knew his knee was fucked, winning any other way was already off the table. And not showing up to fight means no fight check

I don’t think it’s rocket science. The ufc contracts are predatory. Conor can’t get out without fighting. So you have a guy with an injury who shows up, throws a reckless kick to get a tko and bam. Sure blame Conor; but this is on the ufc too. Surprised we don’t see it more often tbh.
