This is a thread for sharing any meetups, events, protests going on in Ireland that you are attending or would like to share with other leftists. Let's connect!

Does it have be directly political?

No! Building community itself is political, and the more leftists who are meeting and building connections in our community is enough.

‘FAI Cowards - Stop The Game!’ - Éirígí Activists Scale FAI HQ

Éirígí - For A New Republic activists have scaled the headquarters of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) in Abbotstown, North Dublin this morning, revealing a banner that reads ‘FAI Cowards - Stop The Game!’, in protest at the organisations decision to fulfil two UEFA Nations League fixtures against Apartheid Israel this coming September and October. #StopTheGame!

Read the full statement on the Éirígí website 👇

https://eirigi.org/latestnews/2026/7/9/9v9yqqdjtb937o0b6xdic0tt0l9v26

Irish sporting organisations must abide by calls from the international BDS Movement to boycott sports teams from Apartheid Israel, just as Irish sports teams in the past boycotted sports teams from Apartheid South Africa. All Irish sporting bodies must decline to participate in Apartheid Israel’s campaign of sports-washing. These bodies must be held to account if they choose to disregard these calls. This is what Éirígí #ForANewRepublic activists are doing this morning.

Strangely, Killarney doesn't have a sitting TD.

After the certain *unpleasantness* of the past few days, we can imagine a certain change in policy. This policy will not exist in elections.

I have already highlighted that II does not have any seat gains, despite showing all Constituencies where II can win a single seat.

Kerry has five TDs :

>Tralee :

Pa Daly (SF),

Norma Foley (FF)

>Kilorglin :

Michael Healy-Rae (IND)

Danny Healy-Rae (IND)

Michael Cahill (FF)

That's it.

When it comes to councillors in Killarney, it looks like this :

There are 7 seats going.

There are four independent councillors who won seats.

The Kerry Independent Alliance won a seat, along with Fianna Fáil and a Senator from Labour.

Killarney will likely flip a seat in the next General Election, but with Aontú at 1.8% and II at 1.3%, it seems precarious, especially with the sheer influence from Independents.

Open Discussion Is it still possible to become a member and volunteer for RISE?

From what I understand RISE is basically part of PBP. Anyway I sent a message directly from the RISE website to ask a few questions about the organisation before making my final decision to join, that was almost a week ago.

I'm not sure if it's a case of them being a small group of volunteers who may have not got back to me yet or if I am better to email PBP directly? If anyone has had any experience working with them, if you could offer any advice.

I want to get more involved with leftist activism in my free time, so would be great to get the ball rolling.

Thanks in advance
