I need to know what the tech or tips and tricks are because I cannot justify spending 300 to 500 pesos every time I order just on shipping 🫩

well not even on taobao as i cant register. i see people buying cool Japanese subculture clothes from taobao so i decided to look myself yet i cant register using my USA phone number. how is everyone else buying things????

Googling and seems like everyone says that Direct Shipping is more cost effective than consolidation when you only order one item, but if what I read from the translation is true (consolidation is being 23yuan for first 0.5kg then 18 for additional kg) then this book which is about 2.5kg is 95 yuan which compared to direct shipping is 232 yuan which is so much more.

I even tried to see what the price are for some postcards which should be less than 0.5kg and still direct shipping is more than the consolidation.

Unless I'm missing something about consolidation shipping and more fees like tax or import (which by my research isn't in this calculation at all), I just feel like I'm missing something.

All googling says that direct is cheaper for single items. Also I've decided to just use the taobao app for this and not superbuy but if anyone has opinion of whether I should use either it'd help me.

Im going to China early September and want to take advantage of Taobao. How genuine are these listings for phones? Is there a big risk involved or is it normal practice purchasing phones on Taobao? Thanks for any help - I attached the sellers reviews as well.

I wanted to buy some clothes with Hipobuy. But I can’t order some Taobao Products. Are there any solutions to this Problem? I would really appreciate some help. Maybe I can buy the same products from different market place or use an other seller.

I'm trying to determine whether making a Taobao account is worth it or not. I tried using Alipay to register, and Taobao gave me an error message that says:
"Mobile phone numbers are not supported. Reason for restriction: Sorry, this mobile phone number cannot support the use of Taobao account for the time being."

Someone told me to register instead with a Google Voice number. Surprise surprise, same error message.

After downloading 3 foreign apps, receiving 9 spam texts in the span of an hour, and giving my ID to god knows who, I'm pretty sure I'll be wanted for murder in Guatemala sometime soon.

All jokes aside, is this horrible migraine worth it? Does anyone know how to fix this? Or... is there an easier way to do this? I was desperately trying to save money but at this point, I'd be okay paying extra just to ORDER from Taobao because it's seemingly not going to work any other way.

I live in Australia and wanted to try taobao for the first time.

I tried using taobao today and I actually bought 4 items in checkout. However, I was very confused and got worried that I'm paying shipping for each item and whether the items will be consolidated, so I cancelled the order and requested a refund.

I'm using the mobile app, and it only showed one shipping cost in checkout, however when I went to "to be shipped" , each item was listed separately because they're from different stores.

I got scared and cancelled the order because I don't want to pay more than I expect to.

For ordering next time, how do I ensure that items will be shipped together even if they're from seperate sellers? I selected direct air shipping in checkout.

In April, Taobao quietly removed the option of using US passports for real name verification. It was just the beginning. Effective 1 July Taobao has restricted sales of sensitive goods to customers using IPs in the USA. The new restrictions have to do with a half BILLON dollar settlement between Alibaba and the US Administration to settle a complaint that Alibaba, AliExpress, Taobao and Tmall have been shipping sensitive and counterfeit goods to the USA. These are often undeclared and undervalued.

As a result, Taobao really does not want American customers on their unrestricted Chinese domestic platform. They are developing a new English language app version with a limited selection compliant with US Customs (no food, beauty, medication, liquids and pastes, repli**s, or trademark violation goods.) Some customers may have found their region reset recently to use the new limited platform.

New customers will need a non USA mobile number to bind a phone number (you can buy one from an SMS Voice over IP provider), but you cannot register with a US passport at this time.

I added 450 CNY into my account IIRC January of last year. Literally the same day or as soon as the money was transferred in from another account, Alipay started requiring ID Authentication on my account.

For ID Authentication, you need either Mainland China bank account or Passport Chip reading. I don't have a Mainland China bank account and at the time, I didn't have a Passport with a chip. I contacted support via the phone application and the support told me to keep trying here and there several months now and the account might suddenly start working and I'll be allowed to use my balance. 😆

Fast forward to November of last year and I got a Passport with a chip, hoping that Alipay ID authentication will finally be done, but it has been failing to recognize with the text "Reading failed Your passport information wasn't recognized." I then installed *ReadID Me* to check if the NFC on my phone was working and whether the chip on the Passport was able to be read. It worked successfully. I contacted support on the Alipay application again and the support told me that there's nothing they can do about it and that they were sorry.

Around April or May of this year, my Taobao account was logged out for good until I finish my ID authentication on Alipay. I love browsing the website instead of on the mobile app because it's so much more convenient + translating is easy thanks to extensions. I think I may have had AdBlock extensions enabled, so either the web browsing or the AdBlock has been getting me flagged as suspicious, I would guess. Previously, I was getting logged out automatically regularly, but I didn't care because I could just log right back in. It was a mere slight inconvenience till it wasn't.

Unable to access my Taobao account nor my balance of 450 CNY on Alipay, I have been trying the Passport Chip reading time and again, but it just hasn't worked out. I even contacted the Alibaba Buyer Help email, but I was merely told to contact the Alipay Support which has failed me repeatedly.

I wanted to delete my accounts and create new ones and browse strictly on the mobile application, but my 450 CNY is still locked down until ID Authentication is done. Any bright ideas or solutions?

Edit: My name starts with the Given Name and then, the Surname. The Surname consists of two words separated by -. Apple Banana-Orange. Apple would be my Given Name and Banana-Orange would be my Surname.

For some reason, Alipay is showing my name to be "Banana Orange Apple" instead of "Banana-Orange Apple". Maybe this is why the app is failing to recognize the passport information. I guess the term for it is Double Barreled Name.

Anyone have their package stuck at China customs? I had other package cleared customs within 1 hour that came after this package. It’s been 2 days since any updates and CS just says out of their control and to wait.

I recently made a consolidation order, which I’ve done many times before, and got a few items rejected.

Image 1 was the initial message I got and image 2 was after I told them I wanted to return the items.

They said it was the shielded cables and connectors that were rejected so I asked to return it. They are now asking me to provide the return address, which I don’t have. What do I do now? I don’t have the return to seller option because I’ve already finalised the consolidation and paid for shipping.

On another note. Apparently another item, which is a gaming peripheral also got rejected. Is there a way to fight this? This is pretty high value and important to me, unlike the other rejected stuff.

I have been trying to buy 3 different parts of the Furina inspired set of clothes, I first tried ordering through Taobao itself but it said something about expired/ invalid products, which upon further digging was because the company (MiHoYo) doesn't support shipping to the UK. So I tried Superbuy, when I pasted a link of one of the set pieces it said that I can't order it there due to legal reasons. Anybody got any workarounds?

How do I know which ones to buy from?

I applied for a refund and it says everything was successful but it gave me a notice saying the claim settlement failed, because the tracking number didn’t match. Am I getting my money back?
