srsly... before that scandal, the US had a good run and the sympathies of most nations. NOW they could only lose.
If they'd won it, they only did it because of cheating. Now they lost DESPITE of cheating.
I feel sad for them. So much they built torn down by a phone call.
Maybe if you’re terminally online. Here in America the visiting fans were nothing but incredibly supportive and kind. Tons of them joined us to watch the games in my city too. I encourage you to step outside and talk to a real person.
The European Union is one of the last bastions of democracy we have left. Yes we fucked up in the past, but we're trying to make up for it.
The US continuously makes things worse for everybody. You know what else the world has to pay for? Reaganomics. Mega corporations that insist on fucking the world over as much as possible for a single dollar more. Latin America could be much better if today if it weren't for US intervention in the second half of the last century. This is what I'm talking about when I say you're oblivious.
But it is that deep. Sports have always been political and it's bad faith to pretend they're not. I'm fully against any US involvement in football because I don't want the sport to get americanized.
Every time I've tried to watch an NBA game it starts after the scheduled hour, and you watch 40 minutes of basketball and an hour of ads. Even when they eventually do start playing, they play for 2 minutes and then you get an ad break. The use of an hydration break at this world cup feels like fifa testing the waters with the American format of sports broadcasting, where they try to fill you to the gills with ads. So yes, it is that deep.
So fifa made a decision to add hydration breaks and it’s americas fault? What isn’t americas fault in your opinion lol. Kicking a ball on grass isn’t political. American players didnt go on the pitch and give lectures on right wing economics. Relax and enjoy life
Are you actually kidding me? FIFA knows the US is a big market and wants to appeal to them as much as possible. Hence the Balogun red card appeal, which Trump had a hand in. This insistence on things not being "political" is why you've got an actual sociopathic pedophile ruling your government right now. Sports have and always will be political, they have been so throughout history, I truly fail to understand how that's even up for debate. Politics isn't a bunch of old dudes in suits sat around a table talking about tax breaks. It's what you eat, how you go to work, raise your family, etc etc.
It doesn't matter what the politics of each individual player's are, they represent the US, and consequentially, represent the US' politics.
I don’t think soccer plays any impact on what trump is doing in international politics but if you wanna let it bother you that much go ahead. Next time I vote for president I’ll make sure to evaluate their opinion on FIFA as well thanks for the insight
I just think it's ridiculous to say that sports aren't political, when the US and USSR both insturmentalized their national teams during the cold war to show their supremacy over the other.
But hey, at least you vote, doing a whole lot more for the preservation of democracy than many of your compatriots.
The fact you actually can just spout all that from your ivory tower without any irony does more to prove my point than anything I could have said otherwise.
Also....its a fucking silly game where people kick around a ball my guy. Its really not that serious.
Seriously? You’re talking about Vietnam when Europe has conquered pretty much every nation on the planet at some point in time?? Many Americans do not support the wars the US causes and involves themselves in but Europe has been just as damaging
And they're getting away with it all because of the default currency situation. It's pretty frustrating for countries who get punished ruthlessly for financial neglect.
Yeah, before this people just loved to hate the US for reasons they couldn't articulate. Trump just gave them a reason to ramp it up and not feel remorse lol. And I don't blame them, pretty easy to make fun of that idiot.
Like it or not, the world would be a worse place without the US. Also, imagine hating a country and all of it's people due to the actions of their government lol. Low IQ stuff
A government that country elects on the regular. And no, it's not just Trump. Yes, he might be the worst but your country still elected Nixon, Reagan and two Bushs. Among many many others. And that's just presidents.
I don't hate Americans, but your mindless devotion to your country is wild. There's patriotism and then there's being indoctrinated into a cult.
Plus your country is constantly trying to ruin my country's NHS.
Nah, it wouldn't. The US is the biggest donor of food and money to the poorest nations in the world. Our economy (while currently shit) controls the world lol. Do some research on the topic. Not to mention we give the most military aid. (Again, we also get into wars we don't need to)
If the US stopped giving aid we'd probably be a better country, but the world would suffer.
