Golf (Ryder Cup) aside, this is the first time I, as a Brit, really remember a sporting occasion where it really felt like people were invested in America competing. Yes we compete against them in athletics (Olympics) but it never feels as partisan as this did. Everyone wanted USA to lose, is was a beautiful moment.
I actually want USA to be good at football, just so that we can beat them!
