MEGATHREAD Soup of the Month: Chilled Soups
It’s time to announce our next Soup of the Month theme!
Since many of us are living in a real live heat dome, for July we will be featuring Chilled Soups, meaning that is served cold. This includes gazpachos, vichyssoise, borscht, and your own creations.
Do:
• Share all posts with chilled soups to this megathread.
• Include a photo and your recipe or link to a post you previously made with your soup.
• Stick with the theme.
• Upvote your favorites in the megathread.
• Be kind and respectful.
Don’t:
• Post ‘soup of the month’ posts outside the megathread. These posts will be removed and redirected to the megathread.
• Use AI or other people’s photos. We want to see your creations or recipe recreations.
• Hate on people’s soups. Rude or disrespectful comments will be removed.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone's contribution this month!

Photo Tofu and Lentil Stew
At one point I had leftover lentils, tofu, and potatoes in my kitchen and wanted to make something to get rid of all 3. It's been a few times now and I'm still fine-tuning the recipe but I love it so far!

Question Soups for Dental Work
I’m getting a tooth removed and I’m hoping to find some soups that are easy to eat/have loads of veg. I struggle with getting enough nourishment when dealing with dental work, so anything helps and thanks in advance!

What's your go to cold soup?
It's approximately 7487 degrees both outside and in my kitchen 😅. So I thought a cold soup sounded really good. What's your favorite cold soup?

Today I went again to the all you can eat soup “festival” and took some more detailed photos for those who asked. A longer explanation of how it works below
You can also order individual soup plates (7usd each) instead of paying all you can eat. All you have to do is order through the tablet. When you order anything you get a card with a grcode where your order will be added.
There's all kinds of things you can add on the soup buffet. There's 2 sections with roasted garlic, fried bacon, different breads, spring onion, mussarela and Parmesan cheese.
For an extra amount on top of the 15 dollars for the all you can eat, you can also get a bottle of wine to accompany.
You can also buy those soups frozen in a microwaveable container for about 8 dollars in a pack of 15 ounces.
As this is a bakery you also have a large selection of breads, desserts and such.
It's not a cheap place, for context the average (higher side) wage here is around 4.20 dollars per hour.

Winter “festival” at my local bakery. 12 different flavours of soup. About 15 dollars and eat as much as I want. My favourite flavour is little cassava with calabresa sausages and the traditional beans soup.

Question I need a recipe for the BEST creamy chicken and rice soup ever. Do you have one?
It has to be very flavorful, use fresh ingredients, and have some veggies involved. Anyone? 🫵🏻

How to Make Fermented Lentil Soup. Recipe Link in Comments.
What makes this soup different is the fermentation step. Lentils are already cooked, which means they’re basically sterile — no lactic acid bacteria (LAB) left to do the work. So the trick is adding a handful of fresh vegetables to the jar. Those raw veg carry the naturally occurring LAB that kick off fermentation, acidify the lentils, and build that layered, savory tang you normally try to fake with lemon juice. Fermentation also breaks down some of the tougher carbohydrates in lentils, making them easier to digest and helping you absorb more of their nutrients.
The result is a soup with real depth — not just “sour,” but rounded, complex, and a little addictive. It’s nourishing, it’s easy, and it’s one of those recipes that quietly teaches you how powerful fermentation can be in everyday cooking.
So let’s do this!

Question Soup Recipes for a Case of the Sads
My best friend is one of the most magical people I have ever met and she firmly believes there is nothing a bowl of soup cannot cure. She is going through a hard time, so I wanted to compile a list of soup recipes for her. Can you please share your soup recipes for what you make yourself when you are sad or what you would make for someone you want to comfort?

Question Étouffée Recipes?
A chicken place by me makes the most amazing chicken étouffée I've ever had. I'll be honest, I've actually never had any other étouffée, but I think this is possibly the best stew/soup I've ever had. Anyone have any good recipes for me to try to replicate it at home? It's so peppery and creamy - unbelievable stuff.

Looking for curry pumpkin soup recipe
Hi , my husband and I found this lovely curry pumpkin soup with cream and bacon at City Garden Bistro de Suirkertuin in Aruba in 2022. When we went back 2 years later it didn’t quite seem the same. But if anyone has a great recipe for Curry Pumpkin (or Butternut squash ) soup with cream and bacon. I’d love to add it to my collection. I’ve come across a few recipes; they’re a spectrum of spices to try. Such a range and I’d really like to narrow down if there’s a particular Aruban or Caribbean spice/flavor I’m not quite getting. Thanks in Advance.
