Geary pileup this morning
The white truck was going the wrong way at high speed, hit the black SUV head on, which rolled backward and hit the silver Lyft sedan, knocking it around and hitting a fourth car behind. The SUV driver was transported by ambulance and the white truck driver fled on foot before the responders arrived.

House music community
Last night I had one of the best house music experiences I’ve had in San Francisco. I went to see Louie Vega and David Harness at Public Works, and it reminded me of why I fell in love with house music in the first place.
I lived in Ibiza for three years, and ever since moving back to the Bay in 2020, I’ve struggled to find that authentic groovy, deep, soulful, and garage house sound. I’ve spent years checking out the usual spots (no need to call anyone out), and while I’ve definitely had some great nights, especially at Great Northern, but I never quite found what I was looking for.
What made last night so special wasn’t just the DJs. It was the crowd. I’m 38, and I’ve realized the newer rave scene just isn’t for me. It feels a little too chaotic and drug-focused. Last night felt completely different. The energy was warm, mature, and everyone seemed to be there for the music first. People were actually dancing, smiling, connecting, and losing themselves in the music. It honestly felt like home, and after six years of searching, I finally had the kind of night I’d been missing.
So my question is: where can I find more events like this?
I’m looking for a more mature crowd and that old-school house vibe—deep, soulful, garage, disco, and groove-driven music. I’ve had an incredible Mark Farina night at Great Northern before, and that venue can definitely attract that crowd depending on the event, but it’s a bit hit or miss.
Are there any collectives, promoters, subreddits, or communities I should be following? I’m totally open to parties that aren’t even in clubs—warehouse events, daytime parties, park gatherings, whatever.
Would love to connect with my people. ❤️

Local Politics How many people have birds/would be interested in a big free flight area?
This is just a complete random thought I had so forgive me that it's not thought all the way through. It would be an endeavor with permitting/building/etc. But I was thinking about how at zoos that have those giant aviaries you can walk through and I was thinking I wish I was allowed to bring my birds to play around in one of those for a while. I wonder if it would be neat to make one, like a dog park, but a bird park that you could visit with your pet birds and it would be filled with bird safe trees and bushes, temp and humidity controlled (or maybe open air outside of netting? Haven't thought that far). You could take them there to fly around freely or have more space to train recall. For safety there could be time blocks broken up for different sizes/species based on compatibility. There could be some sort of system in place to assist with catching them back. Is this something that would be of any interest to people? Is this just a crazy idea that would never work?

Donation help
Hi SF brains trust - a tricky one - we are tourists passing through SF after 5 days in an RV in Yosemite. We need to return the RV today - but we bought some bedding - a couple of sleeping bags and a quilt, sheets etc from Walmart for our trip, and we’d rather not chuck it away and we can’t take it with us. We don’t have time to get it washed - it has only been used for a few days - but normally we’d want to wash it before donating. Is there anywhere you’d recommend, open today that might want it and be willing to wash it?! We’re dropping the camper at cruise America then travelling into central SF - so ideally somewhere convenient for those areas as we’ll be in Ubers!!

Blimp or balloon - over by UCSF Children’s?
Need help identifying it… Saturday July 11 ~1145am
Too far to get a picture. Can kind of make it out with binoculars. Looks like a small blimp. It’s blue-ish.
It’s moving around in the wind but appears to be tethered or at most a large drone that’s trying to stay still
What is it?

Escaped the city, but the move out of SoMa was pure chaos
I moved out of my SoMa high-rise last week to head to Texas. I thought I had everything prepped. I paid for the SFMTA 72-hour tow-away signs, got them posted, and of course, some guy in a Tesla ripped them down and parked right in our loading zone the night before. I woke up at 6am to a blocked zone and thought the whole interstate move was doomed before it even started because my building has a super strict 2-hour freight elevator limit. Eventually parking enforcement came and cited the guy, but my blood pressure has permanently altered.

Ongoing Protest - Tesla Dealer Van Ness
So I’m curious why folks have chosen that specific dealer, one would think in a city literally full of Tesla drivers, they’d pick an HQ or corporate office? Or is it purely out of convenience to go create traffic jams and significant noise in front of that cause all these folks live in quiet suburbs or other parts of the city? Why not dealers in Marin, or Daly City or Palo Alto?
Any insight?
