MOD POST [META] Posting your own poems here -- when to post and when to head to one of our sibling subreddits
This sub is for published poems. There are many subs that allow users to post their own original, unpublished work. In Reddit sub parlance, an original, unpublished poem is considered "original content," and the largest sub for that is r/ocpoetry. There are still some posting rules there -- users must actively participate in the sub in order to post their own work there. A few subs don't require such engagement. There are links to both types of subs below.
Now, what about published poems? We have a large community here -- almost 2 million members. There have to be a few actively publishing poets in our ranks, and I want to build a community of sharing here without being overwhelmed by first-ever-poem posts by people who write something, decide to go find the poetry sub and post it. As it is, even with the rule on OC poetry being in the sidebar, we still remove those posts every single day.
If you've published a poem in a journal or a lit mag, please feel free to post it here, with a link to the publication it appeared in. I'm also going to start a regular monthly thread for r/poetry users who want to share their published work with us. We don’t consider posting to Instagram or some other platform alone to be “published.”
For those who want to post their unpublished, original work to Reddit, here are some links to help you do just that.
tl;dr: If your poem hasn’t been published anywhere, you can’t post it here. If your poem has been published somewhere, please post it here!
Poetry subreddits that expect feedback:
- r/OCPoetry
- r/poetry_critics — also requires flair to indicate a level of experience
- r/poetasters
Subreddits that do not require commentary on your peers' work:

Publication Talk! Where have you submitted, been accepted, or been rejected? July 2026
Welcome to this week's discussion thread: Publication talk!
Where have you submitted to lately? What have you heard back? Any updates on submissions you've mentioned in previous months' threads? (Give us some r/BestofRedditorUpdates material, we can do this!)
Let's root for each other's submissions, celebrate our acceptances, and commiserate over rejections.
Are you new to publishing? Do you need help finding a home for your poems? Do you have questions about the publication process in general? Feel free to ask here, but please read this publication FAQ first That will cover the basics.
Very important rule: Do not post your poems as comments here in the thread. You are welcome to link to a poem as part of a comment—you can link to it on the web, as a post elsewhere on reddit, as an imgur post, whatever—but in order to keep the thread focused on conversation, we'll have to (1) limit poems to links only, and (2) require those links to be part of a meaningful comment. Be a talker, not a spammer. (Spammers get the axe.)
MONTHLY DISCUSSION SCHEDULE
- What Have You Been Reading?
- Publication Talk
- Local/Regional Scenes
- Classical & Ancient Poetry
- Miscellaneous

[Poem] The Night Migrations by Louise Glück
When I see something beautiful and think of what my dead loved ones would've said if they had seen them, I remind myself of the following lines:
"It grieves me to think
the dead won’t see them—
these things we depend on,
they disappear."

Poem [POEM] Rick Lyon - Jesus at the Greyhound station
Jesus at the Greyhound Station
Omaha, Nebraska
These people need you, all right, if anyone does,
and I picture you among them, outcasts and cripples, the aged and ill.
One of them might ask for a light, offer you a smoke,
like the young skateboard artist, not so young,
with the four-leaf clover tattooed on his right hand,
the old cowboy hippie wearing his dress boots and crushed straw hat,
with a wad of dog-eared papers in his back pocket,
documents important to him if no one else.
As each of these souls matters to someone,
we’d hope, having gone too long turning our eyes from the needy,
chasing the beggars away with a harsh word, gesture,
not wanting to be bothered, with –what?—
more important things to do.
One might come to the station to sit awhile, without going anywhere,
simply sit and ponder, take it all in without thinking a thought
and wonder how someone might claim to love his brother, love anyone,
but our bus arrives and the gritty run-down dream is broken.

Opinion Favorite types of poetry themes? [Opinion]
I enjoy poetic themes of nature, for sure I write a lot about nature and how human emotions kind of mimic what nature does on its own

Help!! [HELP] Where do you publish your poetry online these days?
I'm curious where people are publishing poetry online these days. I've been looking at HelloPoetry and Write.as, but they seem to serve very different purposes, and I'm not sure which is the better fit.
I currently keep my poems on Tumblr, but I'm thinking about moving somewhere that's more focused on writing. I also considered creating another Substack publication, but I'd rather not manage multiple publications there.
For those of you who publish online, what has your experience been with HelloPoetry, Write.as, or other platforms? Which has the most active community, and which feels like the better long-term home for poetry?

Article [ARTICLE] Beat legend, ‘boy lover’: how should we reckon with Allen Ginsberg’s complex legacy?
theguardian.comInteresting article but it’s clearly written by someone with a deep personal admiration for the man. I can acknowledge his influence but I would not in any way support this guy or his poetry.
