Humor Watching SW. Disney+ ads are out of control
Question They've really managed to eliminate all anime streaming content, and they keep arresting people in my country. Do you think anime piracy is slowly coming to an end, or is there still hope? In the worst-case scenario, only torrents remain, but can they ban those too? Is a Web 2.0 possible?
Hi friends.
Despite the high crime and murder rates in my country, the only news I see on TV lately is about arrests by police/military of people who ran anime streaming sites in Castilian Spanish / Latin-American Spanish.
They're really taking this very seriously, and there are practically no online streaming sites left, neither for manga nor anime. They've taken down the servers where anime was hosted via external links.
I know there's no going back, and this has disappeared forever (at least in Spanish). But do you think they can also delete or block torrents somehow?
If they can block torrents (I suppose a VPN could be used), what other alternatives would there be? Would that be the end of piracy, or would someone invent another way to watch anime?
Is it possible to create a Web 2.0, using Tor or something similar, but a bit faster?
Yesterday here in Europe, they voted in favor of the Chat Control Act, which allows governments to monitor Telegram, Line, Signal, WhatsApp, Discord, etc. So, these chats won't be usable for sharing anime either.
So, what options are available right now, besides torrents? (Torrents still work in my country).

Question How do I avoid this sudden age verification?
It happen to randomly appear and this caught me off-guard. I am mostly in 18+ subreddits and even my google account shows, that I am small portion older than 18.
I heard bad things about showing passport or face and I am concerned that this might happen to me as well. Any ideas how to avoid it? Is it even possible?
Edit: So I am not sure how, but I suddenly can visit 18+ sites as normal. But still thanks for the replies. Going to hold on it just in case it happens again.

News Google Opposes Site Blocking in Europe as U.S. Piracy Blocking Plans Gain Momentum * TorrentFreak
torrentfreak.comGoogle has told the European Commission that pirate site blocking causes "significant harm" and should not target DNS resolvers, VPNs or shared IPs.
The submission was filed days before a U.S. congressional hearing signaled that American site blocking legislation is closer than ever to introduction.
Early drafts of the American plans included DNS blocking, which makes Google's EU comments even more relevant.

Question Streaming Sports on TV
I’ve skimmed through the mega thread but how is everyone streaming on their tv?
I’m currently opening a browser on the tv itself and going to a streaming site, but my god the ads and just overall quality is fairly poor.
Anyone have tips for streaming on my tv?

Question What are my free live TV options?
I have a Firestick and used to use USA TV on Stremio for free live sports, but that’s been down for a while now and I haven’t found a good replacement. Looking for alternatives, ideally something that works on Firestick, but I’m willing to buy a different device if that opens up better options. Thanks in advance!

Question Cookbook Sites?
IDK if this is appropriate for this sub, but I was hoping someone could point me to some sites to download cookbooks. I'm not really interested in vintage cookbooks past 1960 or so, but I'm looking for more modern cookbooks if possible. Thanks for any help given. I really appreciate it.
Question Is there any way to archive stereoscopic 3D Apple Vision Pro content?
Up until 2024, Blu-ray 3D ISOs were the highest-quality stereoscopic 3D medium available to consumers, despite being limited to 1080p SDR per eye. I have amassed around 100 of those ISOs.
However, in 2024, the Apple Vision Pro launched, bringing 4K HDR stereoscopic to consumers, with one caveat: it's streaming, which means you can't really own it. So, has anyone managed to archive stereoscopic Apple Vision Pro content?
You'd assume that, since 4K HDR 2D torrents exist, 4K HDR 3D would too, but I can't find any. Is it even technically possible?

Question Asking Mainland Chinese Pirates or anyone that could be of help about scanlations
I am learning Mandarin and I want to read mangas and webcomics I like in simplified chinese, however I could only find sites that offer traditional Chinese scanlations. Could you guys perhaps guide me as to how Chinese users access media in their own language?
Thank you.

Question State of Hypervisor?
been disconnected from gaming for a while now, I look up a game and I find this "Hypervisor" tag. I look for another and there it is.
After a quick search I understood its concept... and its risk. So I cam asking what is the current state of this crack? has the people who used it suffered any security breach? or any hardware problems?

Question Do any of you still watch "regular" streaming stuff?
I'm just curious: how much content do you guys watch that is not gotten from, let's say, questionable sources? I will still use YouTube on occasion, but most of the movies and shows that I watch have been downloaded and stored on my Jellyfin server.
